Stopping support meds at 4w2d??!! Ghost?!

Post by margi26 »

Help please!

I really trust my RE....he has gotten me this far and beaten a lot of odds that have been stacked against me.

I had ER 3/2 and ET 3/7. We transferred 3 beautiful blasts and 2 morulas (since I am 43 yrs old). My first beta at 13dpo came back at 240. My second, at 15dpo came back at 653. We are thrilled and hoping that we have one (or more) really strong embie with those numbers.

Today I developed a rash on my forehead....lot of red raised dots that are kinda spreading down my face. I wasn't too worried, but with it being a Friday I decided to call in to doctor's office just to let them know.

RE called me himself (we are out of town patients) and said that is likely the progesterone, but given how high my levels are (I forgot to ask my E2 and progesterone levels) I should be fine to discontinue them. I was kind of shocked as I had expected to be taking them for nearly 8/10 weeks. He said that at this point, with my numbers the way they were, it would just be up to genetics at this point and no need for the added support.

Does that sound right to you? Have you heard of others that discontinued so early?

I of course want to follow RE's orders, but I don't want to do anything that would put this pregnancy at risk. DH and I have been through too much.....

Thanks for thoughts, ideas, experiences!!

Margi - I do not know anything about the drugs....but I will say that rashes can some times be food born.....I got rashes on and off for a while mine turned out to be a gluten allergy....probably not what you have but with that being said sometimes our bodies get over-loaded on certain types of foods or foods that our bodies can't process especially when we are taking other medications that can affect that. So it may just be a food reaction...if you are not comfortable stopping the meds call the RE & tell him & remind him of your history.....drink lots of water & eat mild foods for a few days see if that clears it up.....take care my pregnant friend! xoxoxo

I don't know your progesterone numbers. It's possible your follicles are still making plenty to sustain the pregnancy. I assume your doctor is thinking they are. That's probably what he meant by "up to genetics", as he seems to think your progesterone is no problem. He knows progesterone is necessary to sustain pregnancy.

That's my best guess what he is thinking. You should ask him more detailed questions to put your mind at ease.

The placenta starts making progesterone too, but not for at least a few more weeks.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.

Thank you Ghost. I called the nurse and she said my most recent (yesterday) progesterone level was "above 200" and that all that was needed was over 20. So that I should be producing plenty. I go back on Tuesday to have my levels checked.

Again, thank you!!
