I'm New with FET Questions

Post by MaTina LI »

Hi Everyone,
I have been lurking for a few days and decided today was the day to actually register and post.

My dh and I went through an IVF cycle in 2009; BFP 12/23/09 and Miscarriage 1/7/10. It has taken us this long to decide to use the only little embie we have frozen from the cycle in 2009 (mental & financial reasons). That little guy has been frozen for too long. We are heading to Punta Cana, DR for some R&R in May so we made the RE appointment in June to discuss moving forward with a FET....

I know a few things about FET, but was wondering if anyone can give some pointers or success rate info on transferring one embrio, what medications are needed for a FET, etc...

This looks like a great board to be a part of, tons of support and kind messages!!

Have a great weekend!

Welcome. This is a great board full of wonderful ladies and amazing support. You have definitely come to the right place.

I'm just starting with an FET so I don't have a ton of information for you. All clinics are different, as you know. My clinic I'll be starting BCP tomorrow, followed by adding Lupron and then estrace (I think is the name of it). One thing I notice w/ FET is a lot less visits to the RE.

As far as success rates, again, that varies clinic to clinic.

Like you, we only have one frozen embryo.

I know others will have more information for you. The ladies are all so wonderful here.

Hi, was your embryo frozen as a 5 day blast? If so, thawing rates are great for blasts (at my clinic 95% or better). Currently I am pregnant from a single embryo transfer. I only had one embryo fertilize after my ER. We transferred it on day 3 since there was only one. It worked! So yes, compulsory single embryo transfers can and do work! Good luck!!! :D

Nancy pretty much said it all. success rates differ from clinic. i haven't done a fet but my donor cycle was pretty much like a FEt cycle, took bcp so i can align with my clinics cycle dates, then lupron for a few weeks, then estorgen shots a couple times a week. a week or so before transfer i took ovidrel so i would ovulate. Fets are a lot easier since there are less drugs.

Good Luck!!!

Thanks Girls! Feeling a little more positive and a little less nervous. My embie was a 5day blast so after reading your success it gives me hope.
My husband is at a different job and his day starts at 6am so he will not be able to go to any of the morning appointments this time around I am flying solo. Its good to know its less visits.
Best of luck to you all :!:

Thanks again for your responses!
Best Wishes

Good luck with your frozen cycle! We had our miracle little boy from frozen donor embryos. The cycle is great, it is so much easier than a fresh cycle. Less meds, no retreival, it's great! I think I was just on estrogen pills and patches, lupron, and progesterone after the cycle. No stim meds or anything like that. It is also a lot cheaper! I think the success has a lot to do with the quality of the embryo, not the type of cycle.
After 7 attempts (2 negatives/3 miscarriages), we have TWO miracle boys!! If you would like to hear our story, please visit http://www.ivfsuccessstories.info. Never give up, it can happen for you!!
