Implantation after ET

Post by ness »

Hi,
Can anyone offer some advise on what things I can do to help improve my chances of implantation after embyo transfer. I have had 3 unsuccessful ivf attempts and am now on my fourth go. Any thoughts/ideas would be great!

Hell Ness

Welcome to the board.

There are a number of things you can do but at the end of the day what will be will be.
You must drink lots for starters that will hopefully stop OHSS and keeps your system pure.
You must try to relax which is difficult I know as the minute those embies are in you you fret constantly.
Don't shower with hot water going onto your tummy stand with your back to the water.
Some girls have taken baby asprin which thins the lining of your uterus but you must get medical advice first.
Be positive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sure some other girls will give some more advice but like I said before if it's going to work it will. Mine did on the 3rd go and I'm now 19weeks 4days PG.

Good luck Ness, you will find this board a real support system. I will be watching out for some good news from you. Sending lots of +++++++++++++++ vibes to you.

Hi Ness,

We always want the best possible chance so this is what I done but I done this because I was advised by my clinic to do so.

1. Drink 2 litres of water per day.

2. Wasn't able to bath could only shower ( this is something to do with the stuff they use to coat your lining, having a bath loosens this) alot of clinics don't tell there patients this.

3. I took the 1st 4 days off work and just relaxed, I did things, but I didn't hoover I didn't lift anything heavy.

4. My clinic recommended me to take baby aspirin.

5. Just try and relax the best you can its easier said then done.

last one.

6. Don't make the same mistake I made, leave the evil pee sticks alone, I tested on Day 13 I should of tested on Day 14 but I was bleeding and I thought it was all over, I got a negative result on day 13 but then on Day 14, 24 hours later I got a positive result. Here I am Ness waiting for my baby to be born.

Good Luck.
Love

Hi, just wanted to add that I was at my clinic this morning and given the OK for FET on Friday. I asked what can I do to prepare/help before and after and was told 'nothing, just the injection tonight'. I asked about asprin but was told the research hasn't fully proved its case yet. I asked about the gym, drinking more water than usual but was told 'nothing special'. Grrrrr...drives me insane :x . I'd rather have a long list which helps me feel I'm doing the best I can.

That said, we were lucky with our first try of IVF with the same clinic in 2002 so they said 'it went well last time, no change'.

Fingers crossed for us all.
love

hello DebraP,

I've also heard that we should eat lots of protein as this is good for the womb. Not sure where i heard that - most probably somewhere on this site.
I also went into another website yesterday (ivf connections I think) and read that we should 1) the usual no coffee, alcohol etc 2) no housework especially hoovering 3) no sex and no orgasms !!! 4) no cycling, horse riding etc 5) the lots of water and milk (yuk i hate milk) 6) and at least 3 days rest.
I think that was all.
Hope the 2ww goes great with a big lovely +++ive at the end. I can't wait to actually get to the 2ww even though I know it is the hardest stage.

I spoke to the dr who did my baseline scan the other day and was told there was no harm in taking baby aspirin.
Must tell you this story as it really annoyed me. You know the scans are really horrible, well there was the doctor checking my ovaries and his mobile phone went off. With the 'thing' still inside me he had a chat to his wife for a couple of minutes. How horrible is that!!!!!!

Dh has written a letter of complaint - i didn't really want him to in case they messed up my cycle on purpose. But as long as he doesn't do it again.
Anyway ..... I'll be watching the site over the next two weeks. Good luck

I laughed very loudly indeed at your story. It is EXACTLY the sort of thing a doctor shouldn't do.....good for your DH that he complained. I suspect having a prod stuck up a man for a couple of minutes would make the national news......

Just to make you smile  , we have a very funny ad for intimate wipes running currently (I live in Norway). A woman in stirrups having an internal, legs facing the door. There's a knock and without asking her, the doctor waves in a large crowd of students to observe. The woman is unhappy but doing her best to ignore them when she recognises one guy...they both flinch and blush to the roots of their hair....makes me laugh every time. Way too close to home for comfort.

Thinking positive thoughts......

Hiya Girls

Sorry shouldnt laugh, but that story did make me chuckle! Damn cheek of the guy!!!!!!

Just about to embark on my 3rd (time lucky I prey) attempt.
My clinic havent mentioned Baby Asprin? They just said about the usual stuff like dont go horse riding, but carry on as normal as possible. But i find there are two doctors at my clinic who have two very different opinions. One says, act as normal as possible, think of all those african women who have lots of children, live in poor conditions and walk around with gallons of water on their heads, they still manage to get pregnant and have many children. Cus I mentioned during my last cycle that a postman plonked a box in my hands on about day 3, and I thought oh Sh*t!, but he said not to worry, but then the other doctor on the otherhand, says relax totally, but especially for the first 3 days, cus if its gonna take, thats when it will. So this time I am having a week off afterwards, and will be lying on the sofa doing NOTHING, only preying! Then I cant blame anything if its NEG.

GOOD LUCK

Hi there,
It's amazing how much different advice (or lack of) that all the clinics give...I think the best thing is just to take it easy, as someone said, what will be will be. I too was told the first 3 or so days were the most crucial but that was about it!! As long as YOU feel that you have done everything you can, that's the way to get through it... However, Like Shell, I didn't have baths, drank loads of water and generally did very little. On saying that, look at the women who have posted saying they did everything as usual and immediately and they ended up pregnant.
Keep positive and take care
