I read something in the paper last week about IVF failing where you have over active NK cells and that it can be treated by IVIG to give a much better success rate.
Can anyone tell me more about that screening. What is it called and how much is it? Where can we get it?
Intravenous Immunoglobulin (IVIG) suppresses the immune system and stops NK cells attacking the embryos. A lot of the work has been done at the Nottingham Care Clinic under Dr. George Ndukwe - increasing success to as much as 62%. The add on costs to treatment is £3000 - £10000.
hihi allison, the only think i can add to this is i was at the lister after
3 failed attempts, and i had a blood test to test for NK cells, and i
was told i was borderline, so i was put on a course of steroids after
ET and after testing +itive i continued with the steroids till 12wks and
then was weaned off them. The blood test was inexpensive and i think
the steroids only cost me no more than £15.00.
Hope this helps alisonn
