Post embryo transfer - are there any signs?

Post by Chubbs »

Dear all, this is my first message though the board has been very intersting and informative. Today is a very bad day concerning my emotions and I'm seeking comfort from all the messages on this site.
This is our second IVF/ICSI attempt and I'm day 12 since the embryos were transferred.
IVF has been as traumatic as it could be, although we knew my husband had a problem with his sperm and we needed ICSI I was devasted at the first attempt to find I only produced 4 eggs of which only one was mature enough for ICSI. Following failure in December 2003 of this little embryo I was then found to have a raised FSH. At 38 I felt ancient.
My recent attempt with high dose puregon achieved 5 eggs of which two produced embryos.
Knowing that my time is running out with a high FSH and this maybe my last chance I am desparate for this attempt to be successful. I haven't had any bleeding yet but my boobs feel different today. Are there any signs that the embryos have implanted? a colleague told me that once your boobs go back to normal it means you are not pregnant
Please if anyone is able to tell me what it feels like (or don't you feel anything) in the first two weeks after embryo transfer I would be grateful and my reduce the anxiety and tears

Hello Jane

Welcome to the site.

Many girls on here will tell you that there are no hard and fast rules about what one should 'feel' post transfer. Some have sore boobs, some don't. Some have implantation bleeding, some don't. It's so random and we can spend so long trying to analyse every tweak and twinge, ache and pain but we are all different.

I have had 3 treatments of IVF/ICSI and each cycle was different as far as signs of PG were concerned. My boobs never hurt and I have had possible implantation bleeding in the 2nd 2 treatments. I did get PG on my 3rd attempt and had hardly any sign that it had worked.

Again a lot of us will tell you that it does only take one embie so don't worry tto much. You are due to test soon and I am sending you so much good luck and a big sprinkle of babydust. Let us know how you get on and do try not to get worried about whether it's worked or not (easier said than done :? ) and try to be positive, it's much better for you.

Take care

Love Dagny xkx 8)

Like Dagny said there are no hard and fast rules I am afraid and on day 12 I am sorry to say that it is too late anyway as you know.

I have had 5 tmt's and 3 have worked - 4 were sore boobs and very afish - one ectopic and one pg that we lost at 20 weeks. this time with twins no sore boobs at all which I found alarming so you see it is all a big lottery. You must try and stay positive - that is the best thing - easier said than done I know and the 2ww is dreadful and awful and all things horrid as there is so much hope and worry.............
I am 38 this year - we have read of so many golden eggs where they just have one and my friend Nikola has just had twins and her 3 embryos were all so crappy as she put it she just told them to shove any in as it was not going to work anyway. Her two girls were born last thursday.
Good luck and let us know - we are all routing for you
Love
Tracey
