First of all 'Congratulations' to everyone who have had a positive result recently.
It is now 17 weeks since we lost our pregnancy and we are still waiting for the follow-up appointment. We are seeing our consultant finally on 5th July but by then more than 20 weeks would have passed. I haven't actually had an out-patients appointment since February 2003 so hubby and I are feeling very much alone and in limbo.
What can we expect at the follow-up appointment? I had a bit of a rough time during egg collection and had to be kept in hospital on morphine will they be able to tell us what happened?
We saw the counseller 3 times but without knowing what our options were it wasn't helping talking about 'ifs' and 'buts' all the time, although she did help us a lot when we first lost the pregnancy.
I have tried to stay positive these last weeks but it is hard when we don't know what is happening. I suppose the next 3.5 weeks will pass quick enough and we will have a plan of action.
That does seem like a really long time to wait for a follow up appointment.
My clinic doesn't really do follow up appts. They'll be happy to see someone on request but they generally just send a letter outlining what they think might have gone wrong, any possible changes in protocol they would recommend for a 2nd attempt and what they suggest the next step in treatment should be. I'm assuming those are the sorts of issues the Dr. will address with you at your appt.
Anyway, I was out to the mailbox first thing every day looking for the letter. It took a little over a week after I got my -tive for it to show up and that even seemed like a long time to me.
At any rate, at least by the time you go in, your body should be recovered so that you can attempt more treatment right away if that is what you want to do. I hope the next couple weeks go by fast for you.
