Loss Of Appetite...

Post by Kel »

Sorry to be asking more questions!! :?

Just wondered if anyone else had experienced a big loss of appetite when on stimms? I am on day 8 of stimms, and feel ok but just don't want to eat at all which is no good as I am following this high protein advice... It seems to have got less each day of this stage, and I'm just hardly hungry all day which I am not happy about at all? Breakfast is the worst...

I am drinking the protein drinks, but even they are a bit hard to get down?

Thanks loads,
Kel x

Hi Kel, I totally agree.

I've usually got a very healthy appetite but I find it hard to be bothered with food at the moment. Not like me at all. Not helped by DF working until midnight most evenings which means I really have to force myself to eat dinner. Otherwise I'd just pick - and not at fruit and yoghurts! Do you like milkshakes? you could make banana con leche (Spanish for banana and milk) which is really nice, healthy and filling too.

Good luck and share any ideas! Did your clinic suggest the high-protein regime/diet? If so, do you know if it's too late to start within 2 weeks of EC? I'm vegetarian which makes high-protein intake difficult, but not impossible. Bring on the tofu!

hugs,
Debra.

Hi Debra,

Thanks for that - yeah it is very weird! The high protein was just from some general research I did, and sort of following the Zita West book, which basically recommends high protein diet for good egg quality. I think it's an instant thing so I don't think it's too late to add a few things in now (if the appetite can bear it!!)

The research I found was that it's really good to try and get between 70+90grams of protein a day on cycle if possible. So here's some good vegetarian protein values for you from the book:

Eggs - 6g protein each
Milk - 8-9g per 1/2 pint
Chedder cheese - 7g per 25g (1 oz)
Nuts and seeds - 2-3g per tablespoon
Rice, cooked - 5g per 200g
Bread - 2-11g per slice
Adzuki beans - 17g per 200g
Kidney beans - 15g per 200g
Baked potatoe - 5g
Mosts fruits - 1g each

Also, I have been having hummous dips which are very high, and also macaroni cheese. Also been recommended a protein powder that you can add to milk called 'Solgar whey protein powder', and it's meant to be the best on the market. If you add it to milk it's about 35grams of protein which is a third of daily intake. You can only buy off the internet as I checked the shops, and can also top up while the appetite is low... Worth a go I guess!!

Hope this helps, and more importantly hoping it WORKS!!!!!!!! :D

Hi and thanks Kel. Wow, I wouldn't normally eat 90g of protein a week! I'll trawl the cupboards as I've lots of canned beans. T A quick low-fat homemade hummous would have been the deal but no one likes a garlic-smelling teacher!

Thanks again and as you said, here's hoping it works.

Hi girls, Are you eating carbs as well as all the protein?
I would have thought a balanced diet would be more beneficial.
If you aren't having enough carbs then just eating proteins will suppress the appetite. A lot like the atkins diet.

Wish you the best of luck for EC and ET.

Kel

In answer to your original question......am only on 2nd day of stimms but yes I have really noticed today that I have absolutely no desire for food, my breakfast was a real struggle, but like you I am forcing myself. I put it down to a combination of the stimms and the sniffings, combined with the fact that food is the last thing on my mind.

Still it will all be worth it in the end.

Am new to the site and have posted on the June Cycle Buddies thread as expect EC possibly w/c 21st June.

Keep well

Hi Girls,

Debra - I think 90g is a bit extreme actually I think it's more like 70g - sorry! But I've been surprised at how much protein is in somethings, and I know soya meat and tofu are excellent!

Shellie - Have not cut out carbs, as bread, rice, pasta and potatoes are all excellent sources of protein! Thanks for the concern though, I know the atkins diet is very dodgy and would never recommend that to anyone! Like you say, balance is the best, just found this protein research interesting and feel really well from the Zita West advice, but I know it's all swings and roundabouts in this game!!

Dee Dee - Hope you are doing ok, and I will catch up with you on the June cycle buddies!
