Hi Shell

Still waiting on ma phone call ha ha ha!!

What does alex eat in a typical day??

Brodi and Kyle eat:-
Breakfast: 7oz bottle then wheatabix and a rich tea biscuite....

Lunch:- Either a jar each or home made food, a yogurt, half a packet off quavers, kiwi or grapes and a fun size packet off sweets!!!

Tea time:- Either veggi finger or fish fingers and smiley faces with carrots or beans, then a pudding then, cheese dippers and sometimes a jam sandwhich!!!

Hi Lou,

I am such a nightmare loads of people are waiting I am just a busy person, and you must be extra busy with two. Alex has only just gone to bed so you can understand why I am always on the go.

I can't believe how much your little ones weigh, they are doing so well, and eating like I don't know what but thats good.

Alex is a right funny so and so.

Breakfast he has some milk approx 5oz maybe less but you know he has a problem with milk, then he will have Ready Brek and a yogurt.

Dinner he will have cheese and potato and then he will have a jar of pudding.

Tea he will have packet meal if can't get him to eat mine about 6 big spoonfuls and a jar of pudding.

In between he has little bits of choccie/peach/cheese and likes it, and he has about 3 bottles of bottle.

and weighs in at 20lb 9oz well that was 3 weeks ago and only 8 months old.

Love
Shell.

Hi, Maya is nearly 18m and weighs 23lbs. She's 'quite' good with food, despite my HUGE efforts with homemade veggie dinners....grrr!

Breakfast: toast and fruit if home. Yoghurt and bread + marmite + philly if at kindergarten. + milk

Lunch: (at kindergarten) slices of wholemeal bread with either cheddar, fish paste, soft cheese or jam. Fruit. + milk.

Snack: pear/satsuma/banana. + milk

Dinner: maybe veggie curry/lentil stew. Or herb/cheese/olive omelette (microwave a beaten egg for 1 min on high and you'll get a perfect, fluffy omelette). Another fave is homemade mini-pizza - a slice of brown bread spread with pizza/tom sauce, olives and or peppers chopped very small, topped with grated cheese. Yoghurt and fruit. + water.

Before bed: 5ozs milk.

Some days she's fabulous with food, others not and she'll throw everything on the floor!

Hi all,
This is Jay's typical menu:

7.30am 180/200 mls milk, weetabix or Ready Brek with fruit puree
11.45am Lunch of cottage pie, lamb stew, chicken and sweetcorn casserole (when I'm cooking I make separate little pots for Jay which I then freeze and defrost overnight). Pudding of half a jar of rice pudding, choc mousse, or yoghurt. Water or juice
3pm snack of rich tea biscuits with Philadelphia, or yoghurt
5.30 tea of jacket pot and cheese, parsnip and broccoli bake, root veg with cheese, macaroni cheese, with yoghurt or rice pud for pudding
6.45pm 180/200 mls milk.

He absolutely loves his food (like his ma!!), but is really not overkeen on too many lumps. I'm trying to give him more finger food like toast, rusks, rich teas with cheese and cooked veg, but he rams everything in his mouth then gags or gags and vomits a bit then looks really shocked like I've done it on purpose! He does have lumpy food now but is not overkeen on too many or too big lumps (again - gags or vomits a bit).

How are you getting on?

Does anyone have any tips to help please?

Hi Sally,

Good to see you back and congratulations on Jay's arrival.

I remember the 'lumpy phase' well - what fun it was, not! I made all of Daniel and Charlotte's food and I tended to puree most of it and then mix in a few lumps. Gradually I added more and more lumps and made them bigger as they got used to it. Once they got to 1 they refused to be spoon fed any more and so most of the meals that I gave them were finger food - mini quiches, home made chicken sausages and burgers and so on - and they suddenly got loads better at eating all sorts of food. I'd recommend the Lorraine Kelly cook book for being easy to use and having lots of good ideas.

All the best.

Hi Jules - thanks for the tip - I've got the Annabel KArmel book which has got some good ideas in too. Wow it must have been difficult with 2! Think you and Tracey need an award! Jay is such a greedy piggy and so impatient he does a brilliant impression of a starving baby bird! Perhaps the problem with the lumps is that he's so eager to shovel as much grub as poss down his throat that he doesn't stop to chew!

Is that Lorraine Kelly off TV? The Scottish one?

Also he has no teeth! Not a sign of one and he's 9 months on Wednesday! Perhaps I'll wake up one morning and there'll be a full set of gnashers! What a terrifying thought!

Last night we tried smaller spoonfuls - that worked much better - only one gag! Plus at nursery they're giving him things like toast and crackers with cheese on, so it might be that he's too greedy and impatient! I gave him a piece of cooked asparagus but he shoved it down the back of his throat and pogged up a bit! The thing is he doesn't seem to mind - it's just another thing to investigate!! Bless!

Hiya Shell - how are you and Alex doing? Lovely to hear from you - I've been wondering how you've been for ages, but only got on the site yesterday _ have just come back to work - no computer at home. I've posted a bit of an update on the Wonderful thread - Jo Locker posted at the same time - so it's great that the Girls are Back IN Town :D :D :D !!!

Jay's 9 months on Wed, weighs about 20lbs and is about 73cm tall (approximate since I've not had him weighed for 3/4 weeks - I'm going to take him this week). He's absolutely gorgeous - very happy and giggly but so strong! Am not looking forward to the tantrum stage in a year or so as he'll probably be strong enough to floor me! I'm back at work part time and Jay's in nursery which he loves (loads of female attention to wallow in, lots of food, interesting babies to look at and lots of toys to investigate!). I think if he didn;t like nursery it would be much more difficult coming back to work but fortunately he loves it. No teeth yet - congratulations on Alex's - I am very jealous!. He's just started to say Dadada and mamma, but he stared at me the other day and said very clearly 'Barbara'. Needless to say I am rather worried. She's probably the cook at nursery!! No real crawling yet either - just a lot of huffing and puffing and effort - but I think he'll be there in a couple of weeks.

How are you? Is Alex the same age as Jay? Jay was born on the 27th Jan but was 2 weeks early. What is Alex up to? are you still on mat leave? Is he crawing/standing yet (I bet Jay will be really lazy and just shout to be picked up and taken to where he wants to go!)

let me know how you're doing,

Hi Sally,

I am just so pleased your back and I was wondering for ages what you had a boy or girl and now we have a little boy we was so close before on the boards but then when you went on maternity leave we couldn't keep in touch, I did give you my number but you wasn't getting your pm's so I am sending you a big hug now to say welcome back.

Jay sounds like he is doing so well with his foods, its so exciting isn't it?

Alex is trying to crawl but looks more like he is swimming then crawling but i think a couple more days and he will be doing it. He can do it to an extent but not up on his knees. Alex was due on the 22nd Jan but he didn't arrive till the 04th Feb and I had such a rough time. I was induced gave 4 lots of gel and it didn't work and then when I did have him I had to have an emergency C Section and then I lost loads of blood so had to have 3 blood transfusions. Alex weighed in at 11lb 5oz when he was born so I am glad I didn't have to born him myself.

I am so happy to have Alex and I am blessed with a gift because he is just so lovely and he's so special. You may of read on the posts I am having a lot of problems at home but there we go I have to get by and stay strong.

How is work treating you?

I am still on maternity leave but go back to work a week before Christmas part time 3 days a week Monday to Wednesday 09:00 till 16:30, what hours are you doing?

Anyway think i have done a essay here, Alex asleep so going to tidy round.

Take Care
Love
Shell.

Shell - this is a great idea. I got someone to scan a pic of Jay for me so I ahve it as a JPEG ( :? ) but need to know how to enclose. You were so clever getting this board thing sorted it would be lovely if we could put in pics of our little miracles.

Ooops - pressed the wrong button again :? . Sorry!

Anyway - yes Shell - excellent idea to incl pics - could include them on our profile so when it comes up with our name at the side, we could also have a pic or our little miracle babies.

I was looking last night of some photos of Jay when he was 5 months old - it seems so long ago. Honestly I still cry sometimes when I think about him and how precious he is and how unbelievably lucky I am to have him - indeed how lucky anyone who has become a mum is.

My life has changed so much I can't believe it and give thanks to God each day for our miracle. I bet you do too, and everyone who has been lucky enough to have a baby after all we've been through.

OMG Alex sounds as if he gave you a hard time - what a whopper! Jay was about half his size!!!!

I did not realise that you had had problems at home, although I did wonder because I saw a post where your DH had taken Alex to Liverpool - as I have not had time to read back through all the posts. I nkow that babies - wonderful though they are - can put a strain on a relationship though. Any stress at home can't be easy though - the only thing I can say is that you know you've got Alex, and he's the most precious thing in your life. Do you think your probs can be worked through? Just remember that if you're strong enough to go through IVC/ICSI, you can get through anything - you just keep going.

From my end -work is OK to be honest. I'm doing 9 - 5 on 4 days a week, and Jay settled into nursery within a week - 2 at most. What are you going to do with Alex when you get back? 3 days is great - can you stick at 3 days - that would be wonderful - am very jealous! If I could choose again, My first option would be to do 3 days (my company wouldnt do that unfortunately), alternatively I think I'd do 5 days but finish at 3 pm ish so I could pick him up from nursery.

With having one day off it's difficult not to spend the day cooking/cleaning/tidying up/washing etc, so I run round like a mad bugger  doing all that when Jay's asleep so I can take him out or play with him when he's awake. On my day off I'm more knackered than if I'd spent the day in work!.

Talking of which - better get some done as I've got stacks to do

Keep your chin up - will post soon (feel like I'm getting addicted to this place again  xxxxx

HI Sally,

When I first saw you post I thought is that the Sally I know and I was so chuffed when it was.

Thats a shame that your company wouldn't honour 3 days a week, I am so glad mine have done it for me. I am thinking of trying to get that family tax credit did you apply?

I am not sure about me & Lee I will have to see how things go.

Alex in bed but ain't long gone he's been so active today its untrue hoping he will sleep through but was 04:15 this morning.

I am hoping that My Mom and Lee's Mom will have Alex for me while I go back to work I can't see any point putting him in nursery for 3 days the thing is they ain't cheap

Anyway I am sure you will read this when your at work tomorrow, my bed is calling me now.

Love to you and Jay

Hi Shell - you sound knackered - hope you got a good night's sleep. How does Alex sleep? Sounds like he's an active little chap.

Jay normally wakes at 7am so I'm a bt worried about when the clocks change this weekend - as he'll wake an hour earlier when I could do with an extra hour in bed!

My advice is to claim for the tax credits as soon as you can - I think they can back date them but I don't know how far back. The people are really helpful - there's a helpline you can phone. If you're not earning anything (they don't count mat leave from the gov) you get more than when you go back to work, but every little helps!

Could do with a bit of a kip myself - will have to go and have a strong cup of tea tosee myself through the afternoon!

HI Sally,

Have you had a good day at work? How is Jay?

Well Alex went in his cot at 22:00 so hoping he will sleep a bit longer, was half 4 this morning but I give him some water and he wouldn't go back to sleep.

Is Jay sleeping through?

Not been on PC much today as you can probably see, Alex had some sausage tonight for the first time and seemed to like it and the little one had 2 big yogurts too.

Anyway I'm going to bed going to finish watching the bodyguard that's unless the TV wakes him up again.

Oh you will probably get this in the morning so morning Sal.

Hi Shell,

Just a quick one I'm afraid as I'm off until Monday after today. Hope Alex gave youa good night's rest.

Jay usually goes to bed at 7pm. He has his tea at 5pm ish, then bath at 6.00 then milk at 6.30, then a story and bed at 7pm ish. when he gets home from nursery it's about 4.30 so he has a 30 min nap to see him through to bed time. If he slept very well at nursery at lunchtime he can sometimes do without a later nap.

Most of the time he sleeps well until 7am. He has a dummy to go to sleep with (he has always been very sucky, and I know he shouldn't prob have it to go to sleep with but he's addicted now! Will probably have to go to Dummies Anonymous - wonder if they have support groups at nursery !!!). Anyway - sometimes he wakes at 5 or 6am and starts crying. Usuually because he has got himself into a daft position in the cot! I just nip in quietly in the dark, pop his dummy in, and he goes back to sleep. If he wakes I leave him for about 5 mins as he usually goes back to sleep. It was hard leavinghim to cry but he knows I think that if he wakes he needs to get himself back to sleep, and that I'll come if he's got himself into trouble

If alex is waking early have you tried leaving him for a few mins? it might take a few nights but if he realises he's not going to get anything (drink, play, conversation) he might start to go back to sleep onhis own.

It's alot easier also now the mornings are darker - although it's horrid having to get up in the dark isn't it?
