Early teeth movement??

HI gals,
Me again, with yet another question, this time re. teeth..My gorgeous Annie is now fourteen weeks, I've noticed that she's sucking her hand an awful lot and is really really keen to chew on my fingers. Her face is red (no temp) and she is drooling like there is no tomorrow..I have read that teeth start to "come in" at between four to six months, but have also heard that they start moving about in the gums causing some pain earlier than this..Has anyone else experienced this with their bubs?, any ideas re. making my girl more comfortable?

Hi there ...... my daughter who is now 10 months old started this at about two months old and my health visitor said she was probably teething early. No teeth appeared until 8 months!!! I think the teeth do start moving a long long time before they make an appearance unfortunately ... you feel so sorry for them with their little red cheeks - it's a real flaw in the human being I reckon, why teeth have to be such a nuisance!!

Alice had to wear a bib most of the time for quite a while as her little t-shirt was alway soaked ! She has had real irritation with teething but all in all it hasnt been too bad and mild painkillers (once she was old enough) have really helped.

Hi belinda,

yes, their teeth do move about, or the bones... Sam was seven weeks early, and about a month after he was born, the corned edge of one tooth appeared!! It went down again though and didn't reappear until he was about 8 or so months old - this is apparently quite common as everything is moving into place.

there's not much you can do - you get teething rings for different stages - maybe try that??

Hi Zoe and Jo,
Thanks for sharing your experiences, is awful when they're obviously in pain and you can't seem to make it better for them..I gave her 1ml of baby Panadol last night, that seemed to really help, but don't want to get too dependent on it (would be easy I reckon!!)..

Hi Bel. Seeing them in discomfort is a worry.

Maya's first tooth came through at 7m but we thought things were happening a long time before that. She was never a big dribbler though it was disruption at nights that usually gave the game away plus that they can get killer nappy rash around the same time. It would break my heart to see the skin broken and her pain when being changed. Like everything though, it does pass.

We used baby Calpol which she got to like but like you, I was worried about using it too much. I bought all the gum gels but could never use them, she went berserk at the taste and as soon as she had teeth, she'd try to bite us if we came too near!

You can buy different teething rings which may help. I also gave Alex bonjela and calgel which seemed to help as well.

HI Debra and Michelle,
Thanks for your thoughts and support, I really appreciate this site!, first time parenting is fabulous, but also hard work and stressful..As you say Debra, is awful seeing them in obvious pain, will try the gels and also get a teething ring (she is chewing my finger off just about!!!)
