yes. this is why i have mc...
my doc said what he would want to do is even befor we did ivf that he would want to take a peace of my skin off of my theigh and sew me shut.
and then i would need to have a c-section.
but my chances still arnt very good. but that is becasue off all the abuse i had as a very young age and i also had cancer...
my doc said that this has helped so many women to carry full turm.
we werent blessed with our babies to raise here but we our blessed with our grandaughter
and all of our many adopted and foster children that touch our lives
and i am glad to add that our 6th grandchild will be born this spring!!!!

jamato253,

Years ago I went through this heartbreak. I lost a little boy at 28 weeks - he lived for 2 1/2 days before he died. They diagnosed an incompetent cervix (I had M/C twice before *B* was born). When I got PG the next time - I was scheduled for surgery - but went into labor before surgery (at 4 months) and they had to stop the labor before surgery could be completed...I spent 5 months on complete bedrest. I DID carry my daughter to term - and did carry a little boy later (he was born about 2-3 weeks early but did well (I had surgery at 12 weeks). I had to have a Hysterectomy at 26 so can't carry anymore children.

You are probably wondering why I am on this website. I remarried a few years ago to a wonderful man who really wanted a child - and we have a wonderful angel who is carrying our baby for us. We are currently 9 1/2 weeks pregnant.

You can have a baby even with this condition. I'll tell you this was years ago - before all the great meds they have today. The best they could do to stop labor with my daughter was use an alcohol drip! Ewww...

Best of luck to you! Keep in touch.

Thanks so much...Its kind of funny when you realize how many people have been through this but just don't talk about it until there is a need. I am doing much better these days and I joined a group called the hope group which has been great...Yesterday was a month and I guess the good news is my system is already back on track since AF showed up yesterday, talk about acuracy!!! I really think that the urge to get pregnant again will not fade til I am and I am hoping to discuss my next round of fertility for January...I hope that I don't need to be on that level of bedrest as that must have been difficult, however I willing to endure anything to bring my children safely into this world...Good luck! I will pray for your new little one

Hi,
My name is Heather I'm 29 and DH is 30. I also lost my son Nicholas at 22 weeks on May 15, 2005, he was 1lb 3oz and lived about an hour. They think is was due to an Incompetent Cervix but not 100% sure. We did our first IVF in Dec 04 and had the embroy's transfered on Christmas Eve and thought what a wonderful gift, and he was, we will always remember him in our arms. They said the next time I get pregnant they would treat me as if I do have an Incompetent Cervix and do a serclage around 14-16 weeks, and be put on bed rest. The doctor's say's it gives it a 95% chance for a full term delivery. You will be considered High Risk Pregnancy and will be monitored more than normal. Hope this helps, and good luck. Our next IVF will be in Feb 06.

Heather,

Thanks so much and lets keep in touch....My next IVF ICSI is scheduled for Jan 06 so hopefully we will be celebrating together!! I am all about being armed with information so here is what I have learned! Fortunately my body is like clockwork so I was right back on schedule in november and had a hysteroscopy to make sure everything was all set! There are two different kinds of serclage...There is the mcdonald stitch which is similar to a purse string...The other stitch is called Shirodkar Stitch which is a little more involved (usually used for shorter cervix) The determination for which stitch I will have will be made at about 6 weeks of pregnancy and will be scheduled for between 12-14 weeks....This event is so hard but I hold onto the fact that I gave birth to an angel and that is special! Don't ever forget that, as not everybody is chosen for that!!! Where are you located??

if we are ever able to do ivf again my doc said that

just before we do the et he wants to take a skin graff off my theigh and sew my cervixs shut iwth it.

if i got pregnant and when it came time to have our baby he would have to do a c-section..

that would be our best chance to going the full 9 months.
but he said even with that that he cant tell me forsure that it would work.
we werent blessed with our babies to raise here but we our blessed with our grandaughter
and all of our many adopted and foster children that touch our lives

Heather & Jamato253,

I'll keep you both in my thoughts and prayers, Jamato on 1/6, and Heather on February 6th! Once you get through the first 12 weeks - and then the surgery, we'll all be celebrating! Where are you all located? I live in AZ...take care and keep in touch. :D

I will be doing IVF again in Feb 2006, not on Feb 6th, sorry for the confusion. I 'm located in New Jersey. I have been married 4 years this past May. I delivered Nicholas on May 15, 2005 and our anniversary was on the 26th of that same month, so it was a hard month for us. The holidays are very hard also. Nicholas will only be 7 months on the 15th of Dec, and he should of been only about 3 months here with us. I was due on the 12th of September, my husbands 30th birthday, so that was an even harder day for my husband. I would like to keep in touch. I just joined this site a few weeks ago. Talk to you soon.
