New here but not to IVF

Post by Caty »

I just posted this on the intro board, not really sure where I belong yet:

Hi All

I have stumbled across your forum; I hope it is ok to join?

My name is Cate and I am 32 years old. I have a soon-to-be 4 year old son born by IVF (first attempt after 2 failed IUIs). We have been undergoing our attempts for a second child for almost 2 years now. 2 failed IVFs, 1 failed FET and several non-starters due to poor hormone levels, response etc. It makes us realise how lucky we were first time around. We were considered 'unexplained' - a nasty tag - until recently. Recent tests have shown that my FSH is often raised on cd2, giving rise to the possibility of poor ovarian reserve and poor egg quality!

We have just gone through our 3rd IVF attempt. I had ET on Saturday (2 x 2-day embies, both top grade..none in reserve) and of course the knicker-checking and twinge-analysing has begun in earnest. I am comparing all symptoms or lack thereof to previous cycles, as you do! I need to escape my own head already; to add to the torture, my clinic makes you wait 17 days before testing!!! Of course I'll cave before then.

I just wanted to introduce myself. I hope to speak to some of you soon.

Hi Cate.
Your story sounds a lot like mine. Except I am just at my first attempt. I actually have a 4 year old son (natural though) and a 6yr old as well. We have been trying also for about 2 years, I had 2 failed IUIs, and also considered unexplained. This is my first IVF and am very hopeful.
Best of luck to you in your 2ww.

Hi Cate and welcome to the 2ww. I am right there with you! I test tomorrow - and i have been going crazy judging every cramp, craving, twinge, mood, etc. It's hard not to. I have never had kids, or been pregnant so I have nothing to compare to.

I just wanted to say hello and wish you good luck!

Hey Lisa, I have everything crossed for you. I so hope this is the one. To be honest I don't think you can compare even when there is something to compare...it's a nightmare. I had absolutly no symtoms at all with my son. And I mean it, nothing! There are other who report every symptom under the sun. It's a complete mystery!

Is tomorrow an official beta from your clinic or are you testing with an HPT? I'll be thinking of you.
