Downregging - PLEASE help...

Post by Ems1971 »

I posted on the July thread but haven't had much response so thought I'd post a new thread in the hope of someone being able to give me advice.

I had my baseline scan after 14 days of downregging. My lining was 7mm and there were still a couple of follicles on my left ovary. I went for a repeat scan yesterday (a week later) and the follicle on my left ovary has grown quite large and my lining measured 11mm :? Clinic gave me an injection of Ovitrelle which they said will collapse the cyst and told me I can expect a heavy painful bleed in about 7-10 days time, and to go back again in 2 weeks for another scan.

I really thought I would be starting stims as last week everything seemed to be going in the right direction but now it seems I have taken 2 steps back :( Has this happened to anyone else or am I 'strange'. I feel really dispondent now and am worried that things won't work for us. Any advice would be really appreciated.

Hi Aunty
Thanks so much for answering my post. I am trying so hard to keep positive but am feeling really worried right now. The Ovitrelle injection was 6 days ago and for the last couple of days I've been feeling like AF is on her way. I have all the usual signs, tummy ache, sore boobs etc etc. I am just worried that the Ovitrelle won't work and I will go back next Thurs and STILL won't be "switched off". Did you feel like this? I have looked stuff up in the internet about "poor responders" and I think I have scared myself  !!!!
I know I've got to keep my PMA up, but its so hard. I am only at the 1st hurdle and already it seems I have fallen. Am I being silly?

Hi, I too had a similar problem. Please keep your chin up, you are not being silly. You prepared yourself to down reg and it didn't happen the text book way. Try not to worry. Everyone responds to IVF differently. There may be some hurdles along the way but you will get there. Hang in there!
Sending you some extra strong PMA

Bye for now

Emma, oh gosh i know how your feeling i really do and NO your not being silly at all not for one second
it takes an awful lot to start the IVF process and we have every right to think thats hard enough without our bodys doing its own thing on us.... yeah i felt that way too i had 3 cysts altogether and they threatend three times to cancel my cycle because of them so i do know how you feel BUT and its a really BIG BUT it just sorted its self out and i had the best cycle yet so i want you to try to hope, remain as calm as you can and think positive it really can make all the difference
as for being at the first hurdle and falling no thats not true whats really happening is your getting all the little problems out of the way now so when you start stimming things will go great i know it seems like waiting waiting waiting but i think thats the best way to get the best from your cycle ... take every day as it comes dont jump ahead in your thinking we will get there together

i wanted to ask if you could come on over to the september thread if you want to the reason being im over there a lot but also there are some fantastic ladys there i know they would all love to help you through this we are all waiting to start our cycles and have so much PMA we could heap on you right now you would be more than welcome if you choose to ... sending you big hug

love Debz....

p.s keep up the PMA :D

Hi Emma - I'm feeling quite stupid, don't know what downregging means but what you're dealing with sounds very frustrating!! I'm thinking of you and wishing you all the best, sorry to hear you're dealing with complications in addition to IVF. I had a cycle cancelled early because they found out I needed surgery - this was after I had my calendar in place and thought we were well on our way, I cried for days. This process is so unpredictable!!! Keep that PMA (or get pissed if you want, you deserve to vent, haha) and I'll be thinking of you.

Best wishes, Racquel

Thanks sooooo much ladies for listening to my moans and groans. I am feeling better now but just really don't want them to cancel my cycle. I would be so upset. We've waited so long for this and I've had 4 surgeries in preparation over the last 2 years. I know its only a setback and hopefully all things crossed we can move onto the stimming after my next scan next week!
I am on the July thread, and the August buddies thread, but shall pop over to the September thread and join you. I hope the ladies over there will be able to give me the extra PMA I so need right now!!!
Thanks again. You ladies are great!
