Embryo donation

Outlines the screening of embryo recipients in embryo donation treatment cycles.

Screening of recipient

Recipients must be screened before embarking on embryo donation treatment cycles.

The doctor may order some investigations to evaluate the recipient couple. These may include an ultrasound scan and hysteroscopy to assess the cavity of the womb, hormone tests, check the patients blood for anemia, determine the blood group and Rhesus status (Rh) for matching, etc.

If the woman’s age is over 40 years old, the doctor may order further investigations such as blood sugar levels, etc. Because of the increased risks of obstetric complications.

Some infertility clinics will require the recipient couple to be screened for HIV and Hepatitis B and C before being accepted onto the program.
