Hi everyone

i am still catching up on all the news from the past 5 days...wow there have been busy boards here...

1st of all LISA... :) :) congratulations honey...i am praying everyday for you and little one too...sending **sticky dust** your way..

Randa hope EC went okay for you  multiply cells and grow embies grow...I had my 1st time getting to ET at Dec...so i know how excited you must be!!!!

Sand and DebraP...wonderful to here from you both...Sand good luck for your test date 15th...hugs to you x x

big J- soooo glad everything is going well with sweetie and you...how's the necK? and morning sickness all gone now?

Anna -- how's things Honey? I am still awaiting full AF this month...she is being a little devil

caroline-hey you think I am a young whipper snapper eh! that sounds good to me, but unfortunatley my ovaries say differant. :? (and so do the wrinkles around my eyes...LOL) Here is a bit of my story so you understand why i am on this thread. I had 2 natural conceived preg that sadly were ectopics ( 6 months apart) found at 10wks and 7.5wks, i lost both tubes. I gave IVF a try and was cancelled at day 10 stimming. The docs told me that cause i had no response i was in menopause. This was a BIG shock as i was 37 and had been preg the 11 months before. Luckily the wise ones on this site said differant,.It just took 6 wks for Af to regulate. So i pestered the clinic to try again on a short cetrotide cycle in Dec...where i only got 2 eggs...QUALITY not quantity :D both fertilised into grade A embies...sadly after 2ww a BFN..
I have a lot of thanks to give for KAT RANDA JULES and this thread for their Wise input. :D :D 8) They helped me through a sticky time...

Amfy Kat Lara Bev Tammy Robyn and jane hugs and a big Hi...sorry i haven't personally posted you all :) Hope to catch ya next time...

Love jen

Hi Everyone,

I have to be quick as our damned internet service is still being unreliable and could go down at any moment.

Everything went well today. They got 8 eggs!!!! I'll know tomorrow afternoon how many have fertilized.

I feel very blessed at the moment.

Thanks for all your support! It's been driving me nuts not to be able to get online and chat with you.

Lisa, how are you?
Sandra and Debra, good to hear from you. Sandra... congratulations on your EC and ET. Looking forward to your BFP!!!

God Bless!

Hi all
Wow - so much going on!

Randa - well done for all those eggs - excellent number especially at this age

Debra - lovely to hear from you - hope you're doing OK and life is treating you well

Jules - Pink discharge?? Made me smile on this cold dark morning. I will ask again about using the sperm later on. Interesting what you said about the genetic background in Ukraine - as far as mine goes it is a bit of a mixture - German Jewish, French, maybe there's some Spanish in there too, who knows. Part of DH family has been traced back to Transylvania!

Bev - yes Jules is right - flights were £150pp each way when we went for ET but then it was VERY short notice as the donor was ready early (got the call Fri lunchtime to be there Sun morning!) and we were using fresh sperm so obviously DH had to be there at EC stage. If you use frozen sperm you would have a couple more days to plan everything.

Hi to everyone else too, I must stop doing this at work....too many people arriving now...

Lots of love
Kat xx

PS I got a new position at work which is good news, will take my mind off everything else anyway
Me & DH both 41
ICSI #1 - abandoned
#2 - cancelled - DH accident
#3 - 1 transferred, bfn
#4 - 2 transferred, bfn
#5 - abandoned
#6 - no eggs at EC
#7 - DE in Barcelona - bfp but lost Dec'05
#8 - DE UK - bfn
#9 - FET Sept/Oct '07....

Hey,

Tammy, thanks for outlining your progress with the China adoption, and very well done for progressing thus far - I know how hard it is. My friend died of cancer leaving her two year old daughter, and another friend became the guardian as the father had cleared off back to France, and she's now trying to legally adopt the little girl. I was on the phone to social services for 3 hours being interviewed about the girl's mother, father, the whole history - I mean, they want to know everything! I think it will go ahead okay but they certainly do an extremely thorough job - which is good, of course, but gruelling for the adoptive parents. Keep going anyway, as you say, with your hedge policy!

Randa - great news - you're going to be a winner I can feel it!

Happy Friday!!

Randa: That is wonderful news! Eight eggs is great for chicks our age  I had 6 mature follicles, but 3 of the little guys would not come out. Therefore, we only collected 3 eggs. My doctor was hoping to get 6-8 eggs to increase my chances of pregnancy. He was hoping to get 4-5 fertilized eggs to tranfer as 5 day blastocysts. Do you know how many your doctor plans to transfer? Don't be too conservative. Women our age have a lot more genetically challenged eggs, which will not implant. If I do IVF #2, and I have enough eggs, I will transfer 4-5 embryos.

Lisa: I'm keeping you in my prayers. Keep us updated.

Lara: Thanks for the encourgaging words regarding our adoption. I really would love to get pregnant and adopt from China also. I have to convince my DH on this one though.

Kat: Congrats on your new job!

Hello to everyone else too.

Take care,
Tammy

Hi Ladies,

I have an important question: I took the progesterone shot for the first time ever and read the patient info sheet that comes with.... Geeze! Did you all know that this medication warns that A) it can cause birth defects if used in the first tri-mester of the pregnancy and B) there are NO conclusive studies that show this drug even helps prevent miscarriage and that most miscarriages are caused by issues that this drug wouldn't address in the first place!!!????

HELP! What the hell? I'm calling my doc's office to get some answers, but I am very interested to hear what all of you know about this?

Please advise.

Hi all yeah i second that Anna....Thank goodness it's Friday...it's been a busy week.

kat- didn't know you are in a new job..congratulations... :) Hope all goes well...Are the big boss now? LOL

caroline...hope the ovu test went okay today and you are given the go ahead for little frosties...keep warm... :)

RANDA i have jsut posted at the same time so have only read your msg...

i took pessaries during 2ww...I thought that progesterone was to help embies embed in the first 12wks before placenta takes hold? doing exactly what your own prog would do???
.. AND Surely the docs wouldn't prescribe it if they had any proof of birth defects...they must just be covering their backs...

randa ...i do think you are right to call the doc's office just to see what they think of it all...i will be interested to hear what they say

Hi girls, been a bit caught up with work so haven't had time to post, though I have been trying to sneak in and see what's happening.

Randa, congratualtions on those 8 eggs. Hope they all become happy little embies, ready to implant (and some to add to that ever growing embie bank!). I don't have an answer on the progesterone thing, I just heard, like Jeni said, that it was to replace the progesterone that your body would produce in a normal cycle. Does sound worth calling your clinic about it. When is ET scheduled for?

Lisa, how is the 2ww going. Hope you're getting plenty of rest. Take it easy.

Big J, I'm glad to hear that the scan went well. It must be just amazing to see your baby safely tucked up in there. Take good care of her and yourself.

Kat, congratulations on your new position at work.

Jeni, thanks for the background on your situation. Sounds like you've been through a tough time and I'm not at all surprised that you found good advice and support here. There's something really special about this thread (must be all that "maturity").

Debra, lovely to hear from you. Hope you're doing ok. It's courageous of you to come back to this place when you're moving on with your life, but I appreciate your support.

Robyn, congrats on your LH surge. Does that mean you could get try getting pregnant just you and DH, no doctors involved?!

Lara, I saw that article about PGS too - I just happened to spot it because someone left a copy of the Times on the train and I snaffled it! The first time we did IVF we were considered PGS but never got that far. I was a bit concerned that my current clinic doesn't do it, so I had no choice. It's quite a relief for it to be one less thing to worry about. I didn't see the Rebecca Frayn thing but I think I'd have had the same reaction as you - clearly one person's nightmare is another's smooth running cycle. If only she knew! BTW I'm glad I'm not the only one with a surprise hefty tax bill!

Bev, hope you've found some good deals for Barcelona. If you've got to go anyway, there are much worse places to end up and I hope you get to have a bit of a break there.

Tammy, I admire you for following up IVF and adoption simultaneously. I'm not sure if I could cope with thinking about it all at the same time. But if the timescale is that slow, then I guess you need to hedge your bets. Good luck with it. I'm glad you've got an IVF date sorted out.

I've started ovulation testing now. The clinic got me to start early as I've had some short cycles lately so I've been peeing on sticks twice a day since Wednesday. I'll have to get a second packet and it'll cost a fortune! No sign of a surge yet but I reckon maybe Mon or Tues, which would mean ET would be Thurs or Fri. But it could be later. I want it to start and also I don't. I'm trying to put the worrying off for just a bit longer.

Anyway, need to go food shopping, so better go. Have a nice weekend everyone. I've updated the list

love Caroline

Hi all

Do you know the good thing about being offered a new position in the same company is (apart from the fact it's new & exciting) - it is that my bosses can obviously see past all the time I have taken off over the last few years, all the miserable days I have had, the ups and downs and the 'not being myself' - that's what has really perked me up, I am very lucky to work there.

Hi all!
Randa, that's awesome you got 8 eggs. By now I bet they are 8 happily growing embies.
Has anyone here had or know anyone that's had a successful donor cycle? I just found out we had to add a new med to the list of very expensive stuff i've already got to take to keep this pregnancy. Now we're up to $400. a month in meds alone! I didn't count on that. Money is tight enough as it is and now this. Just wondering how long i'll have to take it all. Delestrogen, estradiol suppositories, PIO and progesterone suppositories, heparin and dexamethasone. My doctor won't answer the question. Or any others. :x

I hope everyone is having a nice weekend. We woke up to snow on the ground. I'm sitting in my upstairs office (which will be converted to the baby's room) looking out the window. it is lightly snowing with snow covering the tree branches. There is a woods behind our house and it looks absolutely beautiful.

Lisa: Wow, $400 a month is a lot for meds. Are you going thru a discount pharmacy? I used FreedomDrug and they were the most reasonably priced. They deliver the drugs to your door, next day.

Randa: How many of your eggs fertilized? We are waiting to hear your progress.

Kat: That is a perk getting a new job. You are starting with a clean slate.

Caroline: Thanks for the support. I just do not think I could stand a BFN again. It is so emotionally draining! If i'm proceeding with the adoption too, I know that I will have a baby, one way or the other or both.
You must be getting very excited about your ET next week. I will be thinking of you.

Jeni: When I first started going to my RE, he said that he would not allow you to proceed with a gonal-f cycle if you had more than 3 mature follicles. However, my Embryologist believes that with women our age, you have to tranfer more embies to counter the lower quality eggs. My RE agreed to transfer 4 embies, if I have them. I guess the chances of women our age (using our own eggs) having more than twins, is very rare. Therefore, tranferring 4-5 would help to increase your chances without increasing your chances for multiples above twins.

Lara: When are you going to proceed with your next IVF cycle?

Anna: Has AF visited yet? I got AF last Wed.

Does anyone know how many months of birth control pills you should take in a roll. I took 1 month after the IVF #1 and I was just wondering if I should take another month before the IVF #2.

Regards,
Tammy

Hi girls,

Just a quickie, as we have DH's friends staying for w/end for another friend's 40th birthday celebration tonight.

Randa,

That's great that they collected 8 eggs! At "our" ages (you are younger than me!) that is absolutetly fantastic. My cycle this time last year, I only managed 3 :( . Let us know how they go on won't you.

Anyhow, no time at the mo to go through all that I've missed, but will try to catch up at the end of the weekend.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far. Take care all,

LOL Bev xxx

Hi ladies, hope all having a good weekend

Randa, sorry can't help with your question. But I'm sure it wouldn't be prescribed to 100's of women going thro' IVF if risks were so high. Hope dr is helpful. Have you got a date for ET?
Tammy , what is an SIS? I haven't seen that before? Or am I being particularly dim  Sounds lovely where you live!
Caroline, good luck this week. Hope LH appears and you can proceed with tmt. Thinking of you.
BigJ Good luck with scan on Tues, hope all goes well, will be watching for your news!
Kat, sounds like you have a great place to work. How is the new job going?
Jen, has AF appeared yet? Did you decide what to do? I posted to you on another thread about cysts. Hope all is OK with you.

BigJ (Jules) - BFP 9/12/05 praying every day, Nuchal scan 07/02 (13 weeks)
Randa - 8 eggs at EC !!!
Anna - Waiting for AF to start short protocol
Kat - Going to Spain 2nd March for testicular biopsy & then hope to start DE tmt again soon
Jen - Waiting for AF, Next IVF in May...
Lisa - BFP hoping and praying
Lara - planning IVF in Feb/March
Tammy- SIS 9th Feb, IVF 2 March
Caroline - natural FET, currently ovulation testing for LH surge, ET prob 8/9th Feb
Robyn - 2nd IVF cycle in March
Bev- waiting for egg donor, considering abroad
Amfy - FET March/April
Jane- visit to Spain 24th Jan to decide next step

I enjoyed my glass of wine on Friday but then proceeded to fall asleep on the settee at the embarassing time of 8.30pm! Waiting for AF sure is exhausting! Am now on day 27 so jigging required please ladies!
I am in a bit of a dilemma. If AF arrives on time this means that EC and ET should happen during half term. This means no questions at work..hooray. But...as I was sick of having my life on hold I went ahead and booked a short break to Ireland to see my sister. I may have to cancel :( Do I tell her the reason why? Maybe cross that bridge if and when I come to it! Have had so many dates changed maybe it won't come to that. But if AF late, I will need an excuse for time off work! AARRGGHH!I give up

Hi to Bev, Lara and all lovely ladies , glad you are there!
PMA to everyone
Bye for now
