I wonder if anyone can clear this up for me. Am I supposed to be in bed? I was told to take things easy but no mention of staying in bed for 2 days after ET. Is there a difinitive answer on this one?
I think our timing must be very similar -- I had my ET on Thursday and am trying to stay in bed as much as possible. The advice is really conflicting -- my clinic did not prescribe bed rest at all and just said to carry on as normal. However, I've also been reading Zita West's book, and going to her clinic, and she is a very firm advocate of taking full bed rest (she recommends four days). From scrolling through a number of the threads, it seems like a lot of the ladies here recommend it as well.
I'm going a bit stir crazy but between my laptop, magazines, tv, and a couple of dvd's, as well as an entertaining DH, I'm trying my best to stay in bed! And, these IVF boards definitely help you to stay positive. Fingers crossed for the both of us!

I did take it easy, but I don't think it matters so much. But if you can, do so and you will feel better. Good luck and God bless

I was told for my first cycle (in a different clinic than now) 3 days bed rest. I was just allowed to go to the loo and sit up a bit to eat.
This time I was told that i can do my usual activities without overdoing it.
So i have decided that i will bed rest as much as i can, and when i will be very bored, i will then get up but take it easy.
In any case, i have a 9H flight and a whole day journey 1 week after ET...
Hope yoou will be ok! take care

Definately can agree with the bed rest for the first few days. It gives your body a chance to recover and lets it get on with growing thse embies. The most important thing is no lifting. Let DH do all the housework etc.
Good luck

The do's and don'ts sticky thread at the top of the general forum has lots of posts on this subject. Quite amazing how different clinics tell you different things. Mine always said carry on as normal just no new sporting activities.
The only personal comment I'll make is that the tmt when I flew 4 days after ET and started a new job involving a fair amount of movement whilst still in the 2ww, was my only completely successful tmt to date and resulted in my DD. I also did some snow shovelling in my last +ve cycle!

Thanks for all the advice, this 2ww is really bringing out my neurotic side! I've even been worrying when I laugh or cough because it makes all those muscles contract! and this is the first time I've really felt like a good workout for months!
I'm going to spend tomorrow in bed then take it easy back at work next week, unfortunately can't avoid stairs but will walk then rather than run!
Does anyone have any idea how long it takes the embryo to implant?
Thanks again and good luck to you all whatever stage you're at.
I really can't remember to be honest, its so strange and you won't believe me but I used to get on really well with Aileen who used to be a member on here, and I said to Aileen that when I had them put back I had a strange feeling in my tummy I had flutters, you can call me a liar if you want but hands down I did. Aileen said to me that it had worked and I said it couldn't of but she was right it had worked. I didn't get any feelings after and I was told the flutters could of beem from the attaching?

An embryo reaches the blastocyst stage five days after fertilisation and starts to break out of its outer shell during the following 48hrs. Only then can it implant.
