Uterine lining is too thick

Post by cindy2007 »

Hi all,

I am new here but I have read this forum for quite a long time. My DH and I have tried two years. Last year, we found out he has low sperm motility. We decided to go for IVF. I am beginning the whole IVF process this month. On my day three ultrasound, my uterine lining is 9mm. Dr thought it was too thick so we had to cancel the process for this month. He let me take Provera for 2 weeks and to see if in next cycle my uterine lining can be reduced. I am so worried and depressed. We have waited a long time and now there is another problem.

I wonder if any of you have/had the same problem as I have. If Provera work on you? Dr said if provera doesn’t work on me, I need to do a surgery. I was wondering if the surgery is like D&C? Anyone has the same kind experience, please help!

Thanks a lot! Cindy :

hi cindy. i had the same thing happen to me about two weeks ago. i was due to start my second set of injections. I went in for my scan to see if everything was ok to start. they told me the same thing. the lining of my womb was too thick.

I knew myself there was something not quite right. because my periods are always normal. but since i started taking the busererlin. my period was light hardly anything. they told me the lining of my womb was to thick because i hadnt shead my period enough. it never did go any heavier. but when they asked me to come back for another scan a few days later it was gone and a started my stims.

Dont worry i happends to lots of women and is quite normal. I know it's hard when you get put back. give yourself another week and youl'll be fine. dont worry. im here if you want to ask anything.

Hi, Hayley and Sandra,

Thank you for your reply. last Sep, I did a Laparoscopy to remove polyps on my womb. Dr said polyps usually don’t grow back very quickly. Now he said, the lining thickness might be polyps again. I hope the drug can help but I have a feeling I need to do another surgery again. I just don't understand why he didn't shead the womb during the surgery?
