Donor Eggs from outside UK?

Post by LozzyLL »

Hi

After 4 failed natural cyles of IVF we were looking at donor eggs option. Due to my age (42 yesterday should have been happy but just felt another year older and less chance of having my own children!!) I cannot afford to be on a long UK waiting list has anyone used any of the Clinics in Europe there seem to be a few in Spain?

Thanks

Hi Lozzy, sorry to hear of your struggle so far. I got back from Sapin yesterday after having 2 embryos transferred - DH sperm & donor eggs so keeping everything crossed. We went to Barcelona to Institut Marques but there are clinics in Valencia and Marbella too that I know of.
A couple of people are going to Kiev too - why don't you post on the general forum as more poeple will see your message (unless you have already - I haven't checked yet) Come and join us on the over 40 thread too.
Also have a look on the internet and email the clinics for some more info. I found mine to be v efficient and easy to deal with by email. We went for our first appt 1st Sept where they went over all our notes and did some blood tests and a dummy transfer and DH had to leave a sperm sample to be frozen (unfortunately not good enough so we did a fresh one this time round when we went for ET).
Second appt was for him to do his fresh sample and then 2 days later we went back for ET.
Best of luck, ask me if you want any more details re Barcelona.
Lots of love
Kat xx

Hi Lozzy

Like you, I'm in my 40s & we wasted a couple of years on UK waiting lists for donor/egg share treatment.

We then saw an article in a newspaper about having treatment overseas. We picked Spain & then selected the Institut Marques in Barcelona (good success rate/easy to travel to/very quick to respond).

There is no waiting list there, donors are usually university students who have to complete a 200 question form to assess suitability & they tend to re-use donors who have a good success rate.

Our first course of treatment resulted in a chemical pregnancy & unsuccessful FET but we immediately tried again & were successful.

Twin girls should be making an appearance within the next 3-5 weeks!

Hope this helps.
