Howdy Doody Livin la vida Locas from Octobas!

How are my margaritas? I am traveling for work the next 2 days so I wanted to drop a line to let you know that I have not jumped the good ship lollipop, but am in fact physically unable to reach out and touch someone (namely said computer).

Well, my noodles, I have done it, I have taken the "step". One little phone call, one giant step away from fertility hub-bub. I have registered DH and I on the sly for 2 adoption meetings. One for the Guatemala program and one for the domestic (USA). If I had my choice I would go international, DH wants to take a looksy at domestic. So, as he was thoroughly engrossed in the tv last night, I snuck in the fact that we are registered and are in fact going to find out what is involved. I just don't think I can do the big question mark anymore. Time for definite baby, if that means adoption so be it.
So, we will see. Doc appt next Tuesday for "options" discussion, then adoption meetings the following 2 Tuesdays. Lots of info to come..... I will keep you posted!

Camilla- welcome back round! good to here that baby is absolute loveliness.... keep up the good work.

Jen- hmm, I am all about the "natural" side of things, as you know I am a yogi, but needles for healing? Crikey! Did you see the Sex and the City episode where Charlotte had it done for infertility? That would be me.... unable to relax and just intensify the stress. BUT! if it is free give it a whirl! I would try anything for free, and alot of things that aren't. Winky, wink. May the force be with you........

Lola Love Bug- the big magie bubble option might have to be explored again. So, tough little question for my silly rabbit tricks are for kids Lola- is this cold feet talking? If definitely feel that body is not ready physically and you are not ready emtionally- CANCEL! However, if you have found yourself swimming in a sea of negatives with little "it won't work" nemos biting at your feet and no Demetrio and little raft in site........... then I say Cowboy Up! Just decide it is time for a go and leap with PMA, WAA and balls of steel strapped on. How to decide- imagine you have just phoned and cancelled.... how do you feel? Like floating about the clouds with wine and chocolate or like in a dust storm with only a dust pan in hand?

Little R- hows it?
Walshy- same?

OK my bunnies..... off like a dirty shirt!

Dear buddies

Jen - That's the spirit! you'll be fine. If you've ever had your legs waxed, that's more painful than acupuncture by FAR.

Steph - The adoption route is an exciting prospect. There's a baby out there for you.

Little R, Lola, Walshy - Hope you're all good.

Having just joined you again, have to let you know that next week (as it's half term) we are going away for a few days to Disneyland Paris. Sorry won't be around but will be behaving like children with Henry! Will probably come back exhausted (not much change there) but it's our only holiday this year so thought we'd do something for Henry.

In the meantime will be sending out as much PMA and baby dust as I can manufacture.

Love to you all.

My Octobuddies......I am sorry...it's been a while.... had to check out for a moment as DH was in desperate need of computer for his studies.
Sorry for the hiatus.... but I am back again...

Well....

Camilla - Wow, thought you were a goner and couldn't find you on any of the other threads. Great to know that everything is going smoothly for you and the little one (slightly jealous!) and that you are back to check in on us again :)
Yes, Lola and Steph are the proud culprits  ; They are the ones who kept us on Page 1.....yippeee!! A round of applause for the Octobuddies

Lola dearest - you're first in line....for our "October COMEBACK Special" So how are you feeling today? You really have been in the wars  ...there is no other way to put it. You poor thing. I totally agree with Steph...listen to yourself... I have taken note of your big day. I have to return to Switzerland and will be travelling on the 21st. I will be thinking about you though, please know that.
So what are you going to do during your 2WW? Terrible tv  , brilliant books  or silent studies  ? Forgot to mention, as you are really the only one who truly appreciates my tv addiction, I have started to watch The OC, season 2.....and only 2 more episodes of Desperate Housewives (have difficulting finishing as never want it to end.... withdrawal symptoms around the corner!)!
Dubai, Dubai, Dubai.....my question to you is: do you enjoy heat  ? Dubai is already hot in April....usually easily over 35°C. In fact we had a heat wave 2 days ago (warm desert wind) and the temperature reached 35°C. It's about 30°C here now...winter is over.
Ok, Ok, weather update is over
If you are coming to get in some sun, well you should definitely visit in April. If you are up to it, interested & wanted to forgo your anonymity, we should meet up 8)

Jen - our skipper, congrats on the AF :!: (for once we can all enjoy it for you!).... sounds like you are upbeat and ready to take on another round. Well done, Jen-y-o!!! Never tried reflexology or acupuncture so can't give you any sound advice, but Camilla certainly swears by it and look what she has to show :D If it means that you will become more serene, well don't hesitate. I have heard that you don't really notice the "needles" part. A friend called me the other day and asked whether I would be interested in hypnofertility....apparently hypnosis treatment to accompany your IVF cycle.... hmm anyone heard of this before? I'm a little to rational to go for it. Any thoughts?
How's the green tea drinking going? Tried any new flavours you would recommend? Are you still drinking heaps of water? :?:

Walshy - well sounds like we will be the last ones on the list :D ....understand about you wanting an Autumn baby....if I am so lucky, mine will be a winter babe (however, given the temps in February here...would be a European equivalent of July!) Sorry about the BBQ.... and enduring the announcements... we all can understand your pain. I am waiting for my cousin who's just had her baby to actually announce that she is pregnant with number 2; that's how bad I am! However, on the positive side, at least, it won't be a shock this time around

Last but not least.... my sweet bud Steph - SUPER news...you will be our Sex-and-the-City Charlotte    .
I remember very well how her story ends.... loved that part...
I have been to an adoption support/information meeting; I was accompanying a friend. It was lovely...there were about 20 parents there along with their children from all over the world. They were giving advice and encouragements and telling their stories--- it was incredible and some of the accounts were really heart-breaking. The room was literally filled with love (never felt it so vividly as then) and in stark contrast to the fertility clinic's waiting room  You have lots going on now... 2 meetings and the Dr appointment on Valentine's Day.... will be thinking about you. How are you feeling? Relieved that you have made this giant step?

My news...in brief, had a bit of a shock.... called the clinic to set up my IVF for April/May and the secretary says..."not sure the doctor will be able to make it as she is resigning"!!!!! ARGH! Well I spoke to the doctor afterwards and she says that she will be there for me--I hope she doesn't change her mind. I couldn't go through changing doctors again...too depressing and un-nerving!

I am returning to Switzerland again for about a week and will be back online probably on 22nd. May have access to a computer whilst away but all depends... so don't think I have forgotten about you :!:

Will drop in before I leave on 13th... it's the weekend again for you guys

MUCH love and lots of PMA and sunny thoughts being sent along with this post.

Take care,

Little R

Halloo and hallah ha ha ha

Sorry I’ve been a bit covert “black” ops lately but work is INTENSE. Best bud and esteemed colleague has gone on maternity leave (…pause…insert sigh/eye roll at leisure..) so workload has expanded like Oprah when Dr Phil is out of town. Then there’s Operation Exam: Mission Unbearable to deal with. Toxicology is today’s topic of study. Its so odd, when I read this stuff the words just seem to move around and coalesce into a big fat WHO CARES.
Sinus Update: in the words of Richard Ashcroft the drugs don’t work, I am inhaling so much steroid I look like Lou Ferrigno. Anyhoo. Despite this I’m feeling decidedly chipper – there’s much to be said for the ostrich approach, and dinky love raft with Adipose Poster Boy – Demetrio.

Steph – you are Ms Proactivo! I admire you. I honestly do. I hope you get what you need from El Doctoro so you and DH can make some decisions. Thank you for your advice – that’s a good idea, how would I feel if it were cancelled – PO’ed. So we are going to Cowboy up as you rightly declare and Just Do It – starting 21st, man oh man. How come you have to travel so much with work? Do you get to go to exotic places or is all a bit Lost in Translation? Drinking brandy at 2 am at the bar, the pianist playing some lonesome tune, a handsome yet tragic stranger (Demetrio? Slim and ready for love after coming runner up on The Biggest Loser) shooting you come hithers?

Little R – little heroine, so do you recommend The OC? Man I would joyfully trade my pile of yawntastic tomes for OC, 24, DH etc. I am indeed the first comeback queen – like Madonna reinventing her bad self. Will get new hair do and high maintenance meself. Dubai is hot! But would be a good break. Would be hilarious and mundo bizarro to meet up. I could smuggle you some DVDs. I’m possibly off to Switzerland in a few weeks too – may have to cancel due to down reg scan though – Verbier. I’m just plain ridiculous at skiing but excellent at falling over so not a complete waste of time.

Jemla – How about lending me a bit of your PMA? You seem up up up at the moment and good for you! I’ve had some reflexology – it’s lovely, relaxing and soothing. La West says to be careful during actual ivf though if I recall. Lots of folk swear by acupuncture – I’d give it a go if I were you. You will be so chilled by the time cycle starts! Which isn’t long now!!!! Woo Hooooooooo!!!!!! We’ll be 2wwing same time. Freak out!!!!

Walshy – knee deep in Factor 50 I trust?? What’re you up to? Hope you haven’t been arrested for flashing the neighbours………

And finally Camilla! Prodigal Octoberry! Glad things are going well for you. Will be glad that’ll you’ll be cheering us on from the sidelines!!!

So, I have my co-ordination appointment on Monday to talk through the FET. My mate thought it was where you go to get advice on how to accessorise. Which would be excellent!
Righto muckers, I’d better slope back to my World of Bore and fry a few cerebrocells.

Take care my lovely women of wonder
Love love love

Hey Octobuddies,

My last post for a little while  ... will try perhaps to log on on the morning of the 14th....

Lola girl! Yes, I am counting on you to kick start our winning comeback streak.... you go girl. FET away :D I'll be thinking about you on 21st. You certainly deserve your share of happiness
Sorry, I truly didn't mean to be insensitive  and rant on about all the series I have been devouring when you are desperately trying to focus on getting your head in your books. Very inconsiderate of me  ... a thousand apologies... I will make it up to you if you decide to come my sunny way. Yes, it would be weird to meet up...but exciting too. :!: :!:
Good luck if you do get to Verbier, so you a styllish skier  ? DH is skiing his little heart out next week, bless him! I have decided that it is too much of a climate shock for me so will stay in warm flat in Lausanne and join for occasional fondue. We went to Villars last year...heaps of snow, very picture postcardish.

You take care of yourself, sinuses and all. Glad to hear we have our upbeat Octo-entertainer back!!!
Wear some Nikes for the fabulous 21st :!:

PS Yes would recommend The OC, preferably if you are on your daily dose of hormones... I think it improves the quality of the acting

Steph - friend...hope you are doing well.... and enjoying the travelling.. a change of scenery must be nice from time to time. You have an informative month ahead of you. I hope all goes well with the Dr and you don't feel like throttling him at the end of the consult. :D

Jen - Enjoy the green tea  and rest up before you start cycling again.
All extremities crossed here in Dubai so that you will produce heaps of lovely little follies....

Walshy, Camilla....hugs for you girls..

Much love...must dash...suitcase needs to be packed and not very motivated at the moment

 Hi lovelies

Didn't know i sound so positive but i am happy to share all my PMA with my bestest buddies.

Have made my appointment for acupuncture on 1st March and am terrified already aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh
Read that you can have acumassage and they work on the same points but without the needles, don't know if it would work as well though. Has anyone experienced this. Camilla does the needles hurt?

Will be here until Wed then off to London and Surrey for a week then visit my DH family in Middlesborough. Watch out Lola i might be stocking you.
Must say, i would rather be stocking Little R in Dubai with all that great heat.

Love and hugs to you all

La-La-Looopies!! How's my best girls?

Wow, I had lots to catch up on this AM. You girls have been poundin the boards over the past couple of days. I likey!

As for me, I travelled directly into lake effect blizzard whilst away for work. It was kind of nice to see the snow. PA has been very quiet this winter. Lola- to answer your question as to why I travel for work. I work for a "bank", so you know lots of travel with that. He, he, Sydney. Actually I work for the PA Bureau of State Parks as a Natural Resources Manager, which means in the winter I travel to parks for meetings and the like on wildlife, streams etc, but in the summer I travel with an airboat to help the parks manage their lakes- treating weeds and such and such. So, if I actually tanned I would be lovely shade of brown at the end of summer from spending so much time on a boat. Unfortunately, I go from bright white to red, back to white again. Ah shucks ma'am. However, the hotel life does provide lovely excuse to order in and spend hours with mind numbing tv or very smutty smut romance novels.

I have the big doctors appt tommorrow afternoon. I will get down and dirty to obtain the nitty gritty! I also have truth serum in my purse, you never know when it will be needed.

Little R- will miss you sweetest! have a great trip. Don't worry about the doc trying to abandon. Lola and Demetrio are great spy team!

Lola-Beany-Baby- How was your appt? Did you get co-ordinated? The shoes, the bag, the hat- all lovely deary! Have decided that nose and sinus cavitity should be detached and placed in magi healing bubble. I told you the coke was bad for your sinuses! Will you ever listen? Glad to see you have put on your steel toes and chaps and are going forward! Your the bomb! Yo! By the way- you are supposed to wear jeans under those chaps y'all! Nice tushy. Demetrio is all wound up. Be careful of the spurs on tiny raft.

Jen- Good luck with the needles! Yowza! You are a braver woman than I. Will send lovely skin tight jump suit and cape over straight away. What should the emblem be on the chest heh? Pee stick? The "man" cup? Petri dish? hmmm. have to think on that one a bit.

Walshy- anything to share lovely?

Camilla- thanks for adoption encouragement!

Have a Daisy Dukes Day!

Oi oi lasses

Well, I am officially co-ordinated and ready for ACTION on 21st. I am VERY excited now, my 14 little ones, up n at 'em, sweetcheeks! There were many...... Only two could be chosen......The race begins to find out who will be...... Lolas Next Top Embryo... Bonnie and Clyde are my pick but hey, wadda I knows?

So Steph... not so undercover my little precious.... Your job sounds top! I see whooshing about on an air boat (a la Hawaii 5 0), hair streaming charmingly behind you as you stand with one foot on the platform, hand shielding your eyes as you scan the horizon for "weeds" which as we all know is code for exotic tobacco from El caribe. You are SO DEA!!!!! Do you have a black peaked cap and a Kevla vest? Demetrio is wild for that sort of get up....
Good luck for tomorow my sweet. No rough stuff with the doco missie. Let me know how it goes.

Little R Absolutely! Just rub it in! You: lounging about on a bed made of chocolate and those sour jelly sweets, drinking cold champagne and watch hour after blissful hour of high quality ephemera TV Me: stooped over a cluttered desk, sitting on a wooden guilt plank, drinking cold decaff tea trying to remember what aromatic amines do to your lungs if inhaled. The smart money is on Something Bad. Will try that on exam day "What are the acute and chronic health effects of acrylonitrile?" "Something Very Bad, yes, I'd definitely give that a 10 on the very bad scale of both acute and chronic badness, shall we move on?".
Have a lovely time in Lausanne, we'll miss you here! Lausanne is beautiful, I love the lake in Winter. Have decided to dereg 2 extra days so that we can go to Switzerland after all. Me n dh need a break and I am jonsing for a fondue YUMMMMMM.

Jen - Mistress of the Needles! I have decided to not pout off after you saying that you'd prefer to stalk Little R to me....huff. Have a good break and then its TREATMENT TIME!!!!!! Go Jemla Go Jemla Go Jemla :D

Walshy - no posts so I assume you were arrested after "Nudegate". Hope things aren't too drab in Chokey. Is it exactly like Prisoner Cell Block H these days or is it all beanbags and wall to wall Kath n Kim? Nice, different, unusual

Well, Travels With My Sinus saga still ongoing however treatment has to stop before I start Buserelin. So its Sinus 0 Uterus 1. Which is a blessing because I sure would have missed the throbbing headaches and face numbness :D

Steph, looks like its just us two for next week or so, HARD CORE!!!

So my favourite octoberererersssss, stay well and happy (see how far we've come eh? We are fanflippingtastic)

Love of Dark Matter proportions

Hey there stunners

Once again I've saved us from relegation to page 2!!! Lord forbid!!!!

Jen happy birthday! :D Ivf or no, 36 is a bueno age to be. I mean, for me it was the worst year of my life to date but I'm sure for you it will be spectacular   This will be our year, stalker. I haven't got my drugs yet - dh is organising so......

Steph how did appointment go? You are wierdly quiet and I'm worried... get in touch.

Little R you are currently living la vida snowy and eating kilos of melted cheese in various guises - hope you are enjoying.

Walshy - out of prison and back in clothes! Congratulations!!!

Radi rah, I have no exciting news as my life consists only of work. Have tomorrow off to spend girl day of manicures and long alcoholic lunch and resurecting my crush on Chris Noth. 5 days still start of treatment - here we go again....

Take care all

page 2..... to come to this!

Steph? Hellloooowwwww out there...... Demetrio's sobs are causing the whole building to shudder, walls are cracking, shelves are expulging their books. "Vere ees shee? Mayy booootifool stephaneee" he eeks out between the breath holding spasms of sadness. Inconsolable, he leaks tears of grief that form lakes of melancholy on the floor. Are you ok? Have you been sent on a secret mission?

And Walshy?? You aren't blameless either, page 2!! Yes, thats right!

Anyhoo, lecture over.
I start me drugs tomorrow. Feeling a bit wierd to be honest, its like I've queued up to go on the ride but now I'm at the front it don't look too appetising. Feel the fear etc
