We had our first emergency trip to the hospital this week when Maya was pushed onto a toybox corner at nursery. She was very frightened and with all the blood, maybe a little shocked.
She needed 2 stitches in a 1"/2.5cm cut on her chin. I think they'd have done more but it was so difficult with her fighting and screaming. Getting the stitches in was easily the worst part of the whole ordeal for all of us. The Dr. suggested a GA as DD was hysterial and refusing to let the medical staff near her. Eventually DF + decided we would hold her down whilst they sewed her up. What a horrible experience. Let's hope that's it. Although having the stitches out next week could easily be as bad as she's very nervous of letting us anywhere near the wound.
Fingers crossed it heals and fades quickly.

hi Debra,
I just saw your posting, I hope the drama is over and Maya is well. I can so well imagine it was so scary for you! Did they take the stitches out? is this why she does not want to sleep? (your other post)
I guess I posted when Alex had his first visit to the doctor, bang on his 1st birthday, fell on his head, cried hysterially, threw up twice, reduced me to panic and then (since it was not so bad at all) flirted with the doctor. I got so scared I realised that I am not prepared that there may be more serious injury, shudder to think about it...
Love,
juliana
The stitches came out this week and although refusing to let anyone touch the wound at first, she relaxed and let a nurse and doctor have a good look and then the nurse took the stitches out. She didn't even 'peep'. A complete reversal of the hospital drama. The wound is still covered but they were very happy with it.
She was very good and didn't fiddle or touch the stitch site whilst they were in all week.
Juliana, the poor sleep is nothing to do with the drama. Unfortunately, she now undresses every night as it's 100% guaranteed to get someone up there. So far we've caught it before she wees on the bed but it's only a question of time..... love her!
Hope all your babies are doing well,
hugs

Ahhh Debra,
I love your Maya stories, she is a scream (particularly to those of us that don't have to get up to a naked child three times a night..yet!!..I'm sure that Annie will develop this trick in time). A friend who's child was doing this used Fixomul or another type of surgical type tape to tape the nappy several times around the waist, that way her daughter could strip off clothes but not the nappy..still not ideal in your cold part of the world though!!
Good luck!
