hi girls

i have been on the site for a while now and have had twwo goes at icsi and still no pg. I had some eggs frozen and took them on to blastocyst but the only lasted to day 2 so no fet.

well one month later and lots of meeting at the clinic we have decided to go on a new drug trial.

you have normal ivf but you are injected with (lif) leukaemia inhibitory factor.this substance is produced in the female reproductive tract and is naturally secreted by the emdometrium during the secretory phase (time of embryo implantation). there is good evidence that, if lif is not secreted properly during the time of implantation, the embryo may not implant and the pg may fail.

well thought you all might be interested amd it may help in the future.

i would love to hear from anyone else who is taking part..

from
july ann
been in tmt for 4 years.Male factor. Have had 3 icsi, one ivf with donor sperm.Went for fet with 7 eggs but none made it to blastocyst. just had 5 DI. test date 27 july
Dear July Ann,

I've also heard about the trial from a friend. I think it's being done at Bourn Hall, Barts in London, Oxford and Dundee, but not sure where else.

It's an interesting concept I think. Implantation seems to be the big research area at the momment.

I have had 4 ICSI cycles (my friend said that ICSI wasn't allowed for this trial - just IVF) and during my last cycle they suggested that I they test my natural killer cells to see if they were active or not. They were shown to be active and I was put on prednisolone (a steroid) and I got pregnant. The theory there is that active NK cells may attack the embryo and stop it implanting.

Anyway, good luck with the trial - hope you have a positive outcome!

Alison xx
