Hi everyone!

Thought it was time to set this new thread up since we had two new deliveries (Susie and Sher) last week. Hoping new mummy's will join me soon and I know we have quite a few due to deliver soon! Hoping it will become a fairly active thread!
Take care everyone and hope you are enjoying every minute (Including those sleepless nights!) of motherhood.

Hi everyone - how exciting to be able to post on this thread - I have been mainly involved with the Aussie / Kiwi thread on the general site, but have been following with interest everyone's progress on the 'pregnant after treatment' thread as well - I tested positive around the same time as Gen and Gavin, Smita and Minnow.

Our little bundle of joy arrived on 2 Feb, a little girl called Matilda Charlotte ('Tilly'), weighing 6lb10. We were very lucky, as she is the result of our first IVF attempt, using ICSI. DP and I both have children from our first marriages, however he had a vasectomy over ten years ago, hence the need for treatment.

We came home from hospital yesterday and I would be optimistic if I said we were settling into a routine!!!! - but we are having a wonderful time getting to know the little one. She was induced 2 weeks early, as my blood pressure had been playing up for some time - so it all feels as though things have moved very suddenly.

Hi Bel

She is just gorgeous - Andrew has been home for 2 weeks, he is back at work on Wednesday, so we have had the best time getting to know her - the big kids are back at school, so things have worked our really well from a timing point of view - she has been a dream so far, although I think that having 2 adults to 1 baby is a bit of a luxury as far as ratios go, so no doubt the dynamics will change when DP is back at work later this week.

This afternoon was she was a bit grizzly, but has settled now - she is sleeping quite well, feeding roughly every three hours, but usually goes back to sleep ok at night. DP asked a few weeks before she was born if I wanted the bassinette in our room or in the nursery, and I was quite emphatic - that she would sleep in the nursery from the start, as I remember with DS (now 12), that the only way to get him to sleep was to feed him to sleep, and he was a shocking sleeper, ending up sleeping in our bed until he was about 18 months old - well - needless to say, from the first night home, Tilly has slept in our room, and she has also had a few nights in our bed as well . . . some people never learn, and no doubt I am making a rod for both of our backs, but we love her to bits and the nursery seems soooo far away (the room next to ours...).

How are you going with the wait until the nuchal fold test? The waiting never seems to stop, for one thing or another. Maybe it is the hormone high still speaking, but I/we are considering whether to have another baby after this one - again, the age thing comes into it, as I will be 38 at the end of the year - so we would need to make a decision sooner rather than later. We don't have any frozen embies so would have to do another stim cycle, which would be an issue re breast feeding etc - and also the obvious recovery time between pregnancies - so something to think about during the morning feeds....

Hey Jo,

Ahh, Tilly sounds divine, and lovely that you and Andrew are having some one on one time with her whilse the bigger kids are at school, sounds like you timed it all beautifully!! Well done on the three hourly feeds too, Annie took an AGE to get into that sort of timeframe, she was more like one and a half hours to two hours, you'd literally finish a feed and almost need to start another one straight away. I do wonder though whether it's easier (the whole breastfeeding thing) second time around. I really used to let Annie comfort suck a lot and logistically with a toddler to look after as well that just won't be feasible this time around..

The thought of having another baby didn't hit me until about six months after Annie was born, I found the first bit really really hard and just couldn't imagine having another. I was/am such a control freak normally, it took me a while to get used to the fact that there was this little person who seemed to rule my life!! But then I figure if Tilly is a contended little girl, and it sounds like she is, I can totally understand wanting another. Why not?, would be great for Tilly as well, a sibling close in age would be a good friend and a playmate..

We're keeping OK, I'm soooo tired and when I get tired I get sick, so something I have to keep in check. Annie has a cold at present as well, so that's exhausting in itself. We have plans to go out for dinner tonight and have ababysitter lined up, not sure if we'll get there though if Annie is not 100%..My nuchal fold scan date has been changed (by Johnie and I so that both of us could be in attendance), it's now three days later than it was supposed to be though, so this Friday fortnight...AGHHHH!!..seems a lifetime away!

Must go, time for a nap for moi!

Jo - Congratulations and welcome to baby Tilly. I do remember you from months back getting your +ve - cant believe how time flies! Its great to hear its such a positive experience you are already thinking of having another!!

Bel - Congratulations on your pregnancy!
I can completely relate to how you felt at first with Annie, about this other little person ruling your life. Jenna is so good. She generally sleeps well (last night was an exception I hope!!!) and feeds well, yet it is the most life changing thing I have ever experienced. I also feel completely overwhelmed by my feelings for her. My parents took her out in her pram a few days ago so I could have a nap and I just couldnt rest. It was the first time she had ever been away from me and I hated it. Cant imagine been without her.

Toni - Thank you for offering to answer any questions. Its great to have this website - I have learned so much already. I have been reading posts on this side and have to say other parents (Still cant get used to the fact I am now a parent either!!) experiences help more than a lot of the baby books you can buy.

Hope to see more new parents over here soon as well. It will be great to share our experiences.

Hello There New Mommies,

Well Siena is a little over two weeks now and she is sure growing fast! The first week was overwhelming for DH and I. As Kim said, it is definitely life changing. I have already taken Siena to the mall and some stores. She sleeps through all of it. She loves her stroller and music. . .puts her right to sleep. Grandma and Grandpa are here this week and it has definitely been helpful. DH and I went out alone for Valentine's Day. It was nice having some time alone together (and of course I missed my little girl).

I would love to see and post photos of our babies. Is this something we post up under the General Forum or is there a photo board in this chat room?

Hi Sher

Gosh, I admire you been brave enough to go out shopping so soon! Although we have been out (mainly short pram walks and to my parents house) I have put off going anywhere more adventurous!
Jenna also likes been in her pram, car seat or sling. Must be the movement thats so comforting.
I keep saying that I will post photos but havent got round to it yet! (Time is going by so fast to me!) I havent really checked out where to post though yet! Jenna will probably be starting school when I do post them at this rate!

There is a place to post photos on the General Chat Forum. I think it is titled Photo Bucket or something like that.

Very cold here today. Little Siena will not be going out until it warms up a bit. I am working on getting birth announcements put together and sending these out to family and friends. We are using babyjcards.com. They do a nice 4 X 6 postcard format with pink vellum envelopes. I like them because they are artistic.

I'm glad to hear you are enjoying your baby daughter. Catch up with you soon. . .

- that's about it from me as far as the technology goes - I enver could work out how to attach a ticker!! We have a couple of pics of Tilly on the site - let us know when you have posted, so we can put some (baby) faces to names!

I am planning a trip to Tasmania for the weekend to see my parents (an hour flight south of Melbourne) - so that will be interesting - we need to work out how Mum and Dad can get a car seat temporarily fitted into their car, so once we have that sorted, will book the tickets - fingers crossed that all goes smoothy.

Hello, finally got chance to post here!
Congrats on getting over to the final board everyone!
It was my DD's 5th birthday yesterday so things are pretty hectic round here, and its half term too!
Ryan is such a sweetie, he's such a good baby who sleeps all day, only waking 4 hourly for a feed, then at night he goes to bed at 10pm and sleeps thru til 7am.
I'm broody already and cant stand the thought of not having anymore babies! I feel I am alot more relaxed with Ryan than I was with Abby which helps me so much, and unlike last time I am enjoying every minute, wheras last time I wished away the baby stage hoping she would soon sit up, then walk etc.
I hope your all getting along OK, is anyone else thinking about number 2 yet?

Susie,

Glad to hear Ryan is such a good baby for you, after all you have been through. How much does he weigh in at now?? You are so lucky to have a sleeper. Siena sleeps about 3 hours and then wakes for feeding. I can't complain as she is pretty good at night and doesn't fuss much.

I will attempt to post some photos of Siena on the Photo Bucket site this weekend.
