Progesterone Question

Post by sml »

I'm on the 2ww and taking progesterone pessaries  . Are there side efffects to be expected? Is anxiety/irritability one? I'm on bedrest for a few days and quite stir crazy which could be why I'm feeling cranky but also wondering if the hormones may be to blame....Any thoughts?

You should not have any side-effects at all!

No symptoms? Oh well, was hoping I could blame my moodiness on the hormones! I guess it just comes with the territory of the tww. Thanks for the response.

Hi SML ... The printed side effects of Progesterone are diarrheoa, flatulence and soreness (back passage, if you use them that way). However, I believe there are many others - including sore boobs and cramps / shooting pains .. Anxiety / irritability is very common whilst on tmt, don't worry ! (easier said than done !)

Hi

Was told today that my really bad cramping was probably because of the effect of the progesterone. Had diarrheoa first two days because of inserting rectally - changed insertion.

Also - I have been really irratable and bad tempered this time -blamed it on the meds!!

Hi I just wanted to share with you that I was extremely moody one min. laughing the next min. crying. And I was told that is a side effect I also was badly bruised and itchy in the spot where I injected the shot and gained weight! Hang in there it lasted awhile with me and my husband wanted to strangle me He couln't take dealing with me anymore and said that if it were negative he didn't think he could handle going through another cylcle but, we will be anyway in April. Good luck to you! :~)

progesterone

Post by faith4 »

Hi,
I agree with you about the moodines on the progesterone. It was quite marked when I used the crinone gel which seemed to be a higher dose than the pessaries (prescribed fewer of them per day) so you get a lot of progesterone in one hit. My mood changes were noticeable. I was dizzy too.
With the pessaries though, I did get used to it and I didn't spend the whole 2ww feeling grumpy or dizzy.
Its also hard to be calm just because of what is going on, particularly with the resting. It does get better when you are up and about and distracted from it. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks ladies for the input on the progesterone. Glad I was not the only one feeling like a looney bird! Tested a few days ago and it was a BFN, so at least I now know what to expect for the next time around. Best wishes to all of you!
