been for EC today 8.30

Post by langton »

hi ladies.
went in at 8.30 this morning. i was really scared, but was fine in the end. They collected 20 eggs. i have got to phone tomorrow to see how many embreo's i have got waiting for me. sadly i am not going for ET monday. my hormones have gone quite high the last few days. They said it could be life thretening if they were to put them back at this stage. they are going to freeze all my embreo's and let my body calm down, which could be 2 months. im i bit dissapointed but nevermind. The nurses were calling me mother Hen cause they collected so many eggs lol.

well im in bed having a little rest. i have to say it wasn't as bad as what i thought it would be. my belly feels a bit like jelly and slight period pains. nothing major. i think ive been quite lucky really.

has this experienced happend to enyone else. and will frezzing the embreos, give them less of a chance. please if anyone can give me info on FET, I havn't got a clue about it.

Hayley thats great 20 eggs and not much pain, im so pleased for you.
I know its a shame their not going straight back in, but just think you will never have to go through the whole process agian, as you have enough embies for as many goes as you need to become a mummy.

Now go back to bed and keep resting, and let us know what happens tomorrow.

hi hayley,

firstly well done 20 eggs are fantastic......dont worry try to rest up!

you are luckier than most, when our bodies go into OHSS alot of us dont even get to HCG injection so youve done fab!

on the month agreed when you ovulate (some clinics do pee tests, mine does daily blood tests - quite tiring going 10 days on the run!)....two days later youll get a phonecall to say how many embies survive the thaw then another call on the morning of ET to say how many survived over nite....ie, carried on dividing and fighting fit....

unfortunately results of FET are slightly lower than fresh cycle of IVF but who gives a stuff about statistics, they could worry us all sick love! we shouldnt really, it can go either way on any type of cycle.....we all know that as we are all experts (or nearly) by now!

statistically (i hate that word!) 70% of embies survive the thaw, so thats great news for us all.....especially with you getting so many eggs.....

to give you an example, lately i got 14 eggs, they have to be careful with me as i respond really too well to drugs (which is good i know) 10 fertilised, 6 frozen straight away.....2 transferred, then out of the 6 i had frozen i had another attempt....so im sure youll get 3 goes but i hope you dont need more than 1....its reasurring of back up hey? thats what i think, at least no more drugs...

so please be happy with your results so far and things can only go from strength to strength.....are you at St Marys? Im at MFS (same Dr Lieberman runs both)

wishing you lol Hayley,

Hayley, me and richard made up today (finally!) , and yes still AF pains and now spotting, think its all over for us, what a crule ride this is, i wish i could do an hpt now so it could confirm my thoughts , so i could have a large vodca, but will have to wait.

Im so pleased you feel ok, i was quite worried about you having so many follies, but well done, you are so brave, unlike me!

I do feel that they should have maybe lowered your dose so you wouldnt get OHSS but at least its all over now and you can relax for a while.

Keep your chin up. and big cyber hugs to you and DH XXXXX

hi donna, yes im at st mary's. thanks for that youve made me feel a bit better now. im so worried about my little embreo's that they might not survive the freezer. i only get one go so its lucky i got so many eggs, can you still go into hypo stimulation after EC?

Hayley,

That is fab news. You lucky lass. I sent you another message on the February March buddies, so ignore it.

It's best you let your body calm down and then you will be tip top condition for the lovey embies to snuggle in.

hi Hayley,

slight risk of OHSS after EC but you help it not happening by drinking a few litres of water a day eating small meals but regularly and by having bedrest.....it did the trick for me once or twice!

lol Donna99 xxxx

ps, Hi Lisa, thinking of you.....told my mum what happened to you she said to say hi and felt for you as the same thing happened to us 12 months ago.....if it doesnt work for me this time im going to try to persuade Drs at MFS to investigate further i dont want to still be trying in another 4.5 yrs and feel like ive got nowhere. goodluck lisa & DH whatever you decide xx

Haley, I can think of a few people that this identical thing has happened to (total freeze after OHSS). The last one to spring to mind was Michelle In Scotland...she's over on the pg side now so there's your proof that it works!

Charlie, it's extremely early for you to have spotting or AF-type pains. Sure it's not implantation spotting and general post-EC-settling-down type pains??

best of luck

EC - freeze

Post by faith4 »

Hi
That's happened to me twice. The first time I had 27 eggs collected (19 good). I did have to wait a couple of months. That was disappointing.
The second time I had 26 collected (22 good). The next time it wasn't such a surprise. Also, the doctor kept getting me back in for scans to look at the follicle activity and has decided that the transfer can go ahead next week (about a month after it was planned).
The rates for pregnancy from FET are better than they used to be and I hear of so many people getting pregnant from FET!
I met someone who went through IVF years ago and they didn't wait to put her embryos back and she got really really sick with the hyperstimulation- hospitalised for a while etc. I felt better about the waiting after I had spoken to her.
So its tough, but I really hope that it works out for you (+ for me too).
Best wishes
Faith

Sorry to hear you are in pain. I m,ust admit I had alot of pain after EC too - I think it is due to the high number of eggs collected. Don't forget that the empty follicles start filling up with fluid after the EC so perhaps thats why the pain is bad. If you are REALLY worried call the clinic - that is what they are there for.

Last year I had 26 eggs collected along with high hormone levels. 2 days after ec I wasn't well at all and was admitted to hospital with OHSS. They fertilised 13 and froze them as too dangerous to do ET. Looking back I am glad I didn't get to ET as the OHSS would have only got worse and I felt really poorly as it was for a few weeks. I'm sure freezing your embies is the best way to go. There is no point risking your life. I am now having FET. They defrosted 5 embies last week, 3 made it and they transferred 2. No risks of OHSS!!!!!! Results Tuesday.

Take care, hope you feel better soon,
