Questions for the vetrans

Hi again everyone! Sky from Germany here!
. I had my first pregnancy in May 2004 result in an ectopic in my rt tube and my second pregnancy again in my rt tube in October 2005 resulted in removal of the right tube.
My gynecologist suggested I go for IVF, and we are now starting the process.
I have alot of questions and concerns reagrding the procedure and am hoping to find some encouragement from the group.
I am to recieve my Rubells vaccination ( German measels) on March 2nd, and then start the process, 6 weeks later after the doctor has monitored my hormone levels while I am menstrating etc.
I have read about some of the risks of the procedure, and it has me pretty worried, however I am willing to do what ever it takes to allow my child/ Children to come into the world. I am sure that you all can relate.

The doctor said because we have had no problems in the past concieving, and that my only apparent problem is the placement of the baby in my tubes, that I am in the second highest success group, and he feels that I would very likely be a great canidate to have a good pregnancy and conception etc from the first try. He did tell me of course that there are no guarentees etc.

He did also express concern over the amount that I ovulate, as it seems that I produce multiple eggs each month ( This month 4 in each ovary) and he does not want to overstimulate me with hormones so has asked that I be willing to allow careful montioring of hormone levels for the next two menstral cycles just to be safe etc.

I have never in my life even heard of IVF the last ectopic and near death experience, when the doctors suggested perhaps naturally wasn't the best option for me after my surgery. The procedure sounds scary and invasive, but I am also a worry wort so just hoping that you all can offer some guidance friendship and advice??

Hello Sky and welcome to the board.

You're in a good position for IVF by the sounds. Many women on here hit problems as they don't ovulate or respond to the meds. You'll have the opposite issue perhaps, they may scan you every 1-2 days when you're on the stimulation meds to check you're not over-stimulating.

A known cause of infertility (although you're not really infertile) is also a great place to be. Many people don't know why they can't conceive/need treatment and it's often as they go through a cycle that problems emerge. That's not likely to happen to you. You know you're both fertile and that you can get pg. It doesn't sound like a blessing, but it's an advantage.

A good read would be one of Zita West's book (available in German from Amazon.de). I have Fertility & Conception but she wrote a new one last year. She has lots of advice on how to prepare for tmt, what to expect during - both emotional and physical, how best to handle the tmts and afterwards etc.

Good luck. As soon as you know when you'll start your meds, have a look on the General Forum for a buddies group for April or May, depending on how your dates work out.

It is worth it, many of us keep trying. I've had 8 rounds now which I have to say is too many but I tested +ve again today.

just wanted to welcome you to the group I am also in Germany - where are you???? Do yu have a good clinic? I find the medical system here fantastic compared to the UK so we are very lucky to be here. I can only agree with Debra's advice - the Zita West book is a very readable bible of fertility and treatments, very supportive, also a good guide if you want to then research something deeper on the internet.

Do come and join us on the general forum as most f us post there, you should find a group to join who are cycling/ preparing to cycle at the same time as you...

Hello Ladies! Thank you so much for the Advice! I ordered Zita West's newset book today!
I am living in Southern Germany, near Munich. I have excellent Doctors working with me! I am quite excited! Can't wait to start! I am so hopeful, all I can think of is little babies!
