Message for Grace & Alison

Post by Amanda A »

Hi Girls,
Just wanted to say hi and hope that you are both o.k.

I have a bit of news, we have a meeting with a social worker re intercountry adoption (China or USA) on 14th March.

Have spent the weeks following xmas coming round to the realisation that enough is enough with the ivf and starting to find the prospect of adopting much more exciting and hopefull.

At last I think I have found that elusive "gut feeling" that I have been looking for to tell me that this is the right thing to do!!

Hope you are both making progress, look forward to hearing your news.

Love Amanda xxx

Amanda, hi, how lovely to hear from you, and what a coincidence that you should have posted today - I haven't logged on for a while, and it had been v quiet on here.

So glad to hear that you are feeling more confident about what you want to do next, and that adoption feels right for you. Good luck with the social worker visit, and do let us know how it goes. What about your other news? How's your puppy (I guess dog now!), and how's the aromatherapy(?) going?

We too have been gradually coming round to the idea that adoption is the right path for us. I think I probably posted last year that we went to an information evening and came away with very mixed feelings about it. Since then I've done a lot more reading, and we had a meeting with a social worker in January and she was just lovely, and seemed very positive about us as candidates to adopt. We're hoping to go on the four day preparation course this summer - she even tried to squeeze us on to a course in Feb/March but the timing just wasn't right, and we don't want to rush things - we've all waited a very long time, so I don't feel a huge pressure to hurry.

Other than that, things are going well for us. I think I'm probably feeling particularly perky as we've just got back from a week's skiing, and in March I'm off to Palma for a long weekend with a girl-friend. I'm definitely making up for all those months and years when I worried about making any plans in case it interfered with an IVF cycle, or what if I were PG by then. And with the possibility of adopting being more real I also feel that this stage won't last for ever, so best make the most of it!!

Anyway, that's all from me, but do let me know your other news, and look forward to hearing from Grace too. Much love
