Cheryl

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, in that I see my Midwife or GP every week and have done since 34 weeks. Is there any way you could say that you would prefer to be monitored weekly as you find it reassuring?

When you do see her again, say that you would like to know if your baby is head down, or even starting to engage - I can't think of one reason why she wouldn't tell you.

Have a look at your pregnancy notes - if it says Ceph in the box for baby's position, then that means it is head down.

My little one started engaging at 34 weeks and was fully engaged at 36 weeks. I had hoped this would mean that s/he would be early, but now everyone is reminding me that first babies are usually late - great!!!

Oh come on Lil Mini P ......

I hope that you are ok and taking care.

Oh bless you Lil P - I too had a feeling yours would come early but still - it might happen in next few days. Thanks for advice, I'm not sure I feel comfortable enough with her to ask for anything to be honest - last appointment I told her I was worried cos growth scan showed baby to be much bigger than she thought and she seemed to get quite defensive like I was criticising her (which I wasn't) - I also asked whether I ought to have another growth scan before birth and she said that it was risky cos I'd already had 5 ultrasound scans and no-one knows if they're safe or not so best not to take the risk!! I couldn't believe it - what a nasty thing to say, if thats what she thought she should have kept it to herself cos all sher succeeded in doiing was sending me away more worried than when I walked in. I think I'm just goiing to put my faith in mother nature and let things run their course - I don't think I'm goiing to get much from midwife but hopefully I won't need her any more in a few more weeks.

Come on Lil Mini P - mum's getting impatient!

Your Midwife does sound as though she has a complete attitute problem - I thought they were supposed to be the Carers!!! :?

I can totally understand your reluctance to be bothered, it does sound as though she's not really interested in having a one-on-one chat - how selfish can she be?

You were saying that your bump has dropped which is a really good sign - I reckon you might be on for an earlier meeting than 40 weeks!!!

Have you had any Braxton Hicks or strange sensations? I've been getting loads more BH which are now getting more painful, they are very low down in the pelvic region rather than across the belly. They don't last very long and if I move around they do seem to stop for a while. Shame, I thought this might be it ....

Ever that wishful thinking.

Keep smiling and big hugs

Hi everyone

CC: I am sorry you are having such a bad experience with your MW, you should feel free to ask her anything thats her job. Dont worry about how many scans you have had. If they are dangerous the pregnant with twins mums are in real trouble, i cant count how many scans i have had, and every time i have my GP visit (fortnightly at the moment) they do a scan to get the heartbeats as its a lot easier then tracing 2 heartbeats with a doppler. I do worry that i am hurting my unborn babies, but i think me being super stressed about not hearing a heartbeat would be a lot worse.

Littlep: My first pregnancy ( I have a 6 yo daughter) I went to 42 weeks with no signs of labour and had to be induced. She never engaged though so I dont think that will happen to you. FINGERS CROSSED.

I hope everyone is doing ok and excitedly waiting for Esters news, ( i think she is next in line :) )

Good luck everyone

Fingers crossed, but nothing else at the moment, that I don't go full term - I am so desperate to meet Lil Mini P I just can't wait. Everytime I experience a slight twinge I keep thinking could this be it? Unfortunately nothing as yet and I haven't had any "show" either so I guess it's at least another day away .....

How are you feeling at the moment - are you going in early or having a natural birth?

Hi everyone

Checking in to see how you are all coping with these last weeks (and days for some of you!)

Joy - Im sorry to hear about the bedrest. Hope these last weeks go quick for you and you are soon holding your healthy baby boy in your arms.
Take care

Cheryl - Your midwife sounds awful! Poor you having to put up with that. I do remember that my check ups, if everything was going ok, should have been every 2 weeks. However, with high blood pressure from approx 33 weeks, I was seen more often, so at least that means things are going ok with you! (But I know what you mean, its such a special time you feel you should be seen more often!) I was never sure when my baby's head engaged. I do remember feeling more pressure lower down from later on, but she never appeared to 'drop' as such (still felt pressure under my ribs). I remember my 'relation to pelvic brim' went from 'free' to 4/5 then 3/5. I had read somewhere that at 2/5 they are classed as engaged, but when I asked my midwife she said that it could still be engaged at 3/5. Anyway, hopefully you wont have to put up with that midwife for much longer!

Little P - Braxton Hicks arent supposed to be painful, so Im sure your time will come soon and you wont have to wait until your due date! Maybe its the start of contractions??!! (Mine felt like period pains, low down like your pains and became more regular and painful over time).

Olivia - Hope you can get some extra sleep before your active little fella arrives! Good to hear you are feeling more comfortable with the breathing and lying down. Hope all goes ok with the growth scan.

Jessica - Its good to hear from you. I hope you and your DH are keeping well. I wish you all the best for your next cycle. I will be looking out for you and praying all goes well. Take care of yourselves.

Hi to everyone else - Jacs, Vicky, Esther, Jaymee and Brandy (Who will be joining this thread soon!). Sorry if Ive forgoteen anyone! Its hard to keep up!

Jenna's doing very well. I have to say, she is a very easy baby. I get 5 to 6 hours straight sleep from approx midnight to 6.00am. She also feeds very well. She is now more alert, so cant wait to start playing with her soon!

Take care all

Kim - you're so good - personals and everything as well as looking after little Jenna. It's great to hear from you - so reassuring to hear about your experiences - makes me feel that all is ticking along fine with me.

Lil P - I think I must be getting BH because I get really tight sensations across bump where everything seems to go into spasm but I'm never sure if that's BH or just constipation from the iron tablets!! (sorry for tmi) Don't worry about 'no show' - I think it can happen in labour itself same as waters breaking. I agree with Jaymee that I don't think you'll go way over specially not with you already engaged. Bugger - I've just remembered that I forgot to buy raspberry leaf tea - you inspired me to get some but when I went shopping this morning I completely forgot! Nothing unusual there then! My brain is like a sieve at moment.

Jaymee - thanks for reassuring words - I don't believe for one second that there can be anything harmful about ultrasound and I'm sure there's been some news lately that its proven safe? I know the 3d ones are a little more unknown (they tend to recommend no more than 3) but basic ultrasound is meant to be fine. Your little ones will be fine - far better to know all is well than to not have scans I say. My midwife was just being spiteful - I'm not even sure she's ever had children so it's probably hard for her to understand how a throwaway comment can terrify a pregnant woman. Anyway - if we should worry then Katie Holmes needs to seriously worry as Tom Cruise has actually bought them their own scanner hasn't he!?

Love to everyone - Come on mini Esther and mini Lil P - we want to see you

Wow - it's great to hear from you all.

Cheryl
That preggy head thing is a real pain at times - don't worry though you've plenty of time to get going. One thing to remember, my Midwife said to start with 2/3 cups a day for the first week, then start increasing it - don't know why, but thought I would pass on her advice. Take care of yourself and get plenty of rest.

Kim
I hope your thinking is right - maybe this could be the start of something, only it doesn't stay for a long time and thought labour was something regular not irregular :?

It's wonderful to hear how Jenna is doing - I bet she is even more gorgeous than you let on!!

Esther
Good to hear from you - I had hoped that something had happened for you. I hope that you are ok and not feeling too exhausted by it all.

Just off to brew up again....

Hi all,
Not being as good as kim- its impossible to keep up with her personals!!
Dhruvaa is awake almost all night- from about 11- 3 anfd then from 5-7.. and then she sleeps the whole day just waking up for feeds..I'm like a zombie most of the day- i try hard gto get some sleep when she sleeps, but its not working out what with eople coming in to see the baby at all times..
She is such an angel though that I cant complain about her keeping me up all night.
Right now dh is here with me and so its helpful, but he leaves day after  , so i dont know how I'll cope then- I hate to bother mom as she is already so busy with the other day to day work that she needs her rest at night.. oh well, we'll see when it comes to that!
Jessica,
I'm so glad to hear from you. ny news on when you are cycling again? I hope your voluntary work

Kim,
Its lovely to hear about jenna- I'm glad you get sleep at night..
.. will getback dhruvaa is asking for a feed..

Great to hear from you - take care and I just know before long you'll be bouncing round the boards again because your beautiful Dhruvaa is sleeping better.

Take care and rest as much as you can.

hi all
sorry for the lack of posts i have been reading up on u all and were all so very close
smita ur little one sounds lovely and all she wants to do is spend time with u and dh maybe when he unfortunatly has to leave u both that she will sleep a little more .. at the mean time she maybe is trying to get all the attention and time she can
iv been having trouble with this spd and still feel totaly fed up i struggle to do any thing as im in so much pain im off to antnatal clinic with my doc on tues and im going to ask her for stronger pain killers as she said she started me on mild ones if i could only get more than a hrs sleep at night im sure that would help....iv finaly got rid of my cough after 5 months so the stress incontinance is getting better i can go to bed without having to wear something down below and feel very airy ha ha
i had my last antinatal class last thurs which was better as all the couples chatted we talked a lot about issues we were all concerned about and all gave our feelings towards diff things as the midwife couldnt comment on certain things like bottle feeding she wasnt allowed to talk about that only breast feeding... how silly...so the new mums to be took over and gave each other our feelings on it
she did tho comment on rasberry tea when we were talking about wot to use when trying to start us off ... and she didnt recomend it!!!!! she said she had lots of mothers hav lots of blood loss after drinking that ... but she also said that she couldnt say that was cos of the rasberry tea and that they might of had lots of loss anyways nothing was proven but in her opionion she didnt like the use of it she said stick to pineapple instead
....everyone has there own ideas on things and im sure wotever we do eat and drink will be fine
