Jaymee - sounds like things are going well and you're on the downhill stretch. Hope you like your new car. I traded in a two-seater for a bigger truck/SUV and it's been an adjustment. I feel like I'm driving a bus!

Ange - how about we start a clothing line for twin moms that doesn't cause us to be embarrassed! I know we aren't alone and we'd probably make a lot of money and keep moms-to-be happy. :)

we ordered the baby furniture and it should arrive in the next few weeks. We haven't done anything else to the nursery, but we need to get started or the babies won't have anywhere to sleep :)

what kind of chairs are you all going to use in the baby's room?

Hey guys.

I'm going for my next scan on Monday. I can't help but feel nervous and scared. I haven't seen both bubs since 9 weeks, and I just want to make sure both are still doing well.

When you finally start to relax about all of this stuff?

divinagracia & Denise - Good luck with the scans.
I am nearly 29 weeks and have had scans at 8, 11, 12, 16, 19 & 27 weeks and in addition when I see the consultant or the midwife at the hospital they always check the heartbeats using ultrasound. The more scans I have had, the less I have been worried but I dont think the worry will ever go away completely for me.

KC_TTC - furniture was delivered today and there are flat pack boxes everywhere!! Not really decided on a chair yet, probably just an armchair

Best wishes to everyone
Take care
Ange

Denise -

I didn't relax until 24 weeks. Honest, no kidding, I was tense until then. I just now feel that no matter what things will only get better. Every week is a better chance for the babies to be healthy.

My DH thought I was crazy, but I just couldn't shake negative thoughts about having a miscarriage.

Hopefully you aren't like me and will feel better much sooner!

You should be getting close to feeling movement. That is fun and reassuring at the same time :)

Hi everyone

KC_TTC: Good idea to upgrade from a 2 door car me thinks :).

DeniseM: Best of luck with your scan, it should be a really wonderful experience, you wont believe how much your beans have grown. I am 31 weeks today and i still worry, its just about different things, First i worried about vanishing twin/mc, then preterm labour, then are they growing ok, and now i worry about cord accidents. I wish i could go back into the past and tell myself not to worry! But not all worry is bad, it could save your unborn babies life, worry is a natural part of motherhood.

divinagracia: Good luck with your scan, i have a scan on friday as well :) and welcome to the thread.

AngeWG: congratz on your new furniture, i still only have a cot. Enjoy putting it together!

Good Luck everyone

Hi everyone

I just wanted to say my scan went well and that the doctors are very pleased with the babies growth and well being. I am worried though as my girl twin is measuring huge compared to the boy. She weighs 2.3kilos and my boy weighs 1.7 kilos. They say she is just extra healthy as she is above the 95th percentile, he is closer to the 25-50%. I do worry though as she is as big as a 35 week singleton. Have any of you seen twin birth weights that are vastly different? I worry my son is too small as my first daughter was always in the 95% as well.

I had a scan today at 14 wks 2days Found out both twins are girls. We were advised to have this scan today at 14 weeks after my scan at 12 weeks in London. The scan at 12 weeks for Downs showed everything normal in both babies but one of them had Tricuspid Regurgitation which is a heart valve condition and is evident in 80% of Downs babies. Hospital said if this does not go by 20 weeks it might be a very good indication of Downs.

Today the Tricuspid was worse, although the Doctor said it does initially get worse then hopefully will settle. He measured twin 2's Nuchal Fluid and said it was not an ideal time to measure it at 14 weeks but was concerned that it has gone from 2mm at 12 weeks to 4.2mm now and with the Tricuspid flow still present this concerned him a lot. He said the baby did have a nasal bone but again this was less apparent that baby 1's. Twin 1 was doing well she had a fluid of 2mm which was far less than twin 1 and this is what he said was concerning him because of the difference between them.

He didnt want to commit too much as he said it is still early days but when pushed he said he was 'Very concerned' he offered Amnio but with the miscarriage risk even though small my DH and I did not want to do this as I dont want to risk my other baby which is perfectly fine. I also said even if it was Downs I would not abort it because again it carries quite a risk with losing the other twin and this is a risk we cannot take.

We are now in a horrible situation, I feel bad in saying it but I dont think we could keep the baby if it has Downs. I would pay more attention to that one because of its special needs and maybe I would neglect the other girl. My husband is a Long Haul Pilot and is away a lot and I feel in my heart I would not be able to cope with a Downs baby. I feel bad when I say or think this but this is how I feel.

We are happy at least one baby appears totally normal and I thank God for that. I just wish God could give me an answer, if this baby does turn out to have Downs I dont want to abort and kill this little girl at 20 weeks or 32 weeks just because she has Downs - I mean its not her fault and I beleive that she deserves her life aswell as anyone but I dont think I could cope having her as a mother. It makes me cry because does this make me a bad person? All I want is my 2 healthy girls.

In a way I am so happy for having at least one confirmed happy baby but I am so early in my pregnancy in some ways I am worried so much I feel as if I am stuck in a nightmare - I always thought that pregnancies were supposed to be a happy time. I am so sad right now :(

Any advice would be appreciated - Am I a bad person for abandoning this baby if it has Downs by giving it up for adoption? I feel evil :(

Jaymee -

I don't have my pound to gram chart with me....why can't the U.S. convert to metrics already?? #@*$#&

Is 2.3 and 1.7 really that far off? It doesn't seem to be - .6 difference? I can't believe that it makes the percentiles that far apart! Also, don't forget that they are using measurements to estimate the weight. I've seen plenty of people who thought they had a certain weight on the baby and when it popped out.....NOT what they had thought.

My latest scan shows that the twins are currently the same weight. I'm waiting for one of them to pull away from the other. I don't get another growth scan until 30 weeks, I think.

KC_TTC: The girl is 5.1 and the boy is 3.74 what do u think?

divinagracia: I am so sorry you are going thru this dreadful experience. You are not a bad person, you are being honest with yourself.

I have just erased about a page of "advice" and things to concider. You really have to think clearly and consider all the options for yourself.

But I really want to say Whatever u decided to do you have my total support and understanding. You are going to be a great mother and whatever you decide is the best way to proceed you are doing whats best your children.

Please feel free to talk it out here, without critasism.

hugs

Hi Charlie

I am pregnant from a ivf cycle where 2 embroys were transfered on day 2. I am having twins :), a boy and a girl.

I am due on the 28th of april but i will be having an elective c-section either the 11th of april (if i get my way) or the 18th. I love being pregnant a lot but its very stressful being pregnant with twins, i have 2 anterior placentas which means that my placentas are on the front wall of my womb instead of my back, its normal but it means i have reduced fetal movments, so that was so stressful from 20-28 weeks but now i feel the babies moving quite a lot, my girl moves way more then the boy though so that is always worrying because you cant know for sure you have felt both move from day to day. I have put on about 15 kilos but its all belly weight so its exhausting because my tummy is so huge. Being pregnant with twins makes you very tired as well, but luckily i havent had any m/s at all. I am nearly 32 weeks now and i feel quite depleted because the babies take so many nutrients, but its the best thing in the world and i am so excited. I cant wait to get past 36 weeks :).

I hope you are having twins :)

when did you say your scan was?
