Hi Lucy,

Glad that you are getting your next tmt cycle underway in April. Not long to wait now. I'm still deciding whether to go to Spain or Kiev for my donor tmt. Have had a consultation in Spain, and now trying to organise a consultatiion in Kiev. Bit of a worry, with the expense of visiting two centres abroad, but I need to be sure before I make my mind up. Good luck with your tmt when it starts. I will keep an eye open for your progress.

Ooops, sorry Phoenix's, hope you don't mind me posting on your thread, it's just that this seems to be the one that Lucy spends most of her time on. Good luck to all you girls, when you finally get your tmt's underway.

Hi Bev

I don't think the ladies on here will mind one bit you posting, your more than welcome to join us.

How did the consultation go in Spain? Were you happy with things? I know it must be very expensive for you having to go to both places, but like you said if you feel you need to go to both to make your mind up then do it. I have heard success stories with egg donor from Spain but I don't know anyone who has gone to kiev. Is there anyone on this site, maybe over on Egg Donor forum that has been to Kiev?

When are you thinking of going to Kiev?

I really hope you can come to a decision about which country to go to for Egg Donation. Also Bev I told my consultant about the Menopur, he thought that was very very nice of you. It was, thank you.

Anyway feel free to post on here, the Phoenix ladies are lovely and offer lots of support.....!

Take Care

Hi guys - just popping in to say hello - thanks for making me welcome and not minding my pregnant state (those who posted on Message for Luby / Jeni babes). I think this is a lovely thread for those waiting to start / restart treatment and you're really great support for each other which is fantastic. I can't wait to hear of many positive results later - apparently Spring time is particularly good for IVF - most clinics have higher rates in Spring / Summer than in Autumn / Winter so you're already blessed with some good vibes there. It will happen and when it does it will be so much more special than these people who just sneeze and they're pregnant! Even though it's hard and painful - there's nothing like this journey for blessing us with a very special love and gratitude before our babies are even born - I know it's very hard waiting for that moment but it will absolutely be worth it in the end and I wish you all the very best of luck and tonnes, truly tonnes of special baby dust!

Hi Jen & Lucy, Thankyou for your welcome to your thread.

I don't have any dates just yet, I am looking at going to ISIDA for an initial consultation, and having all my up to date bloods and tests etc done there. They e-mailed me today to say that they would do them ALL for $100 (about £70). So much cheaper than I could get them done in the UK or indeed at IM in Barcelona. The consultation plus initial scan is only another $36 (about £25). Compare that to IM, the consultation was 150 Euros (about £100) and the fees for the tests etc were quite expensive too. The cost of a cycle with DE tmt at ISIDA is about 5,000 Euros, whereas at IM it's about 9,500 Euros. So all in all, Kiev seems to be very much cheaper.

Lucy, have spoken to Jules from this site (Big J) anud she is pg from her trip to Kiev, and has told me of many more success stories. I found Spain really nice, had a lovely 3 days in Barcelona, and the clinic was fine. I was relatively happy with things, but the cost element was a bit worrying. I could go for seperate cycles at 9,500 E's or sign the contract for 30,000 E's which is their refund system, includes 3 cycles, and if you're not pg beyond 12 weeks by the end, you get 75% back. Sounds great, the only snag is that if you get pg first cycle, then miscarry at say 13 wks, you have spent your 30,000 (about £22,000). A bit of a risk, as we all know how things can go wrong, even after the first 12 wks.

All in all, I would be happy to go to IM in Spain for tmt, but do need to explore the other options at this stagen - so watch this space. I am trying to pluck up courage to go over on my own, for the initial consult. as DH is limited to school hols only and I would like to get the ball rolling. Just need to take some "brave pills" and go for it. I'd like to think I could get something organised to visit initially within the next 2 wks. OMG.

Anyway, best go now before my pc crashes yet again. Already tried to do this message earlier, and lost it.

Hi all

Just a quickie to let you know all did not go well and they did not find any swimmers yesterday - not even one. I'm feeling just totally distraught and gutted right now - the lowest I've been since we started on this whole journey. Dh tried so hard - giving up caffeine, cutting down on the alcohol, taking up jogging and really looking after himself and its all been for nothing. I feel so much for him right now - he's in a lot of pain and has a very large incision wound plus is black and blue down there.... and nothing to show for it.

The dr who came to tell us wasn't the consultant but said that they could try biopsying the other testicle with a view to using donor as a back up. The biopsy would be on the day of EC. Have an appt with the consultant on Wednesday. Don't know what to do........ the chances I think are very slim, almost non existent. Having dh's child meant so much to me I don't know how I feel about anything else. I can't believe this has happened to us. The news just keeps getting worse and worse.

Anyway I'm away back to dh to nurse him. Catch up with you all soon xxx

Lisa, Lisa, Lisa! I am so sorry for you and dh, I really thought that they would find some swimmers there, extra love to your dh from my dh. xx

My dh didnt go for biopsy as he said he felt there would be nothing in th tetstis anyway, and that he didnt want to have the op for no reason at all. I really feel for you and dh, but hey at least you tried, more than what we did. Since then, we have had once sperm sample come back with 'one' sperm in the count..!!!!! Thats funny huh???? One!!!! Honestly it was just one!!!!! We named him Herbert, but Herbert could have been the one the get me preg, and now we'll never know!!!! Herbert came out in a jar not in my womb!!!!!

Anyway, Lisa, we settled on Donor, it's our only choice, and yes it's sad I will NEVER have DH's true baby, but although dh want be the father, certainly will be the Daddy!!!!
I have met others that have babies from Donor, some from this site, but mainly from other sites, not a great Sperm Donor lot on these pages, a few, but mainly far and few between...... If u are interested in other sites relating to donor I can Pm them to you ( dont really want to advertise other sites on here, it's a bit rude, dont u think!!)

Anyway, honey, I truely know where u are at, I would see a councilor at your clinic about Donor it'll help ya.

Lisa, just to let you know, I am here for you ok, xxxx bless ya xxx

Jen, it would probably be clomid. Not really sure, still think IUI for now, dont think I am strong enough for IVF. Hope ur feeling back to you very soon!!!
Feb is such a dull month, Hate it!!!! Nearly all gone!!!! Phew!!!

Cant wait for Wedding Anniv. going to book weekend away for it, not sure where yet, a city break somewhere!!!!! Let ya know soon ok xxx

Happy week end to you all xxxxx

Oh Lis I am so sorry to hear your news, I really thought everything would be ok. I know this is a very hard time for you both and probably no matter what people say won't make the blindess bit of difference but once you've both had time to get use to this you be able to think more clearly.

I know you won't even want to be thinking about sperm donor right now but I also know of people who have had to go for that option to have a baby as that was their only chance. Things have worked out for them and they are all happy. Things will work out for you and DH but right now you both need time to be together. Take Care of each other Lis and give your DH my love.

As for the biopsy on the other testicle, how does your DH feel about that? He has already been through all this, see what the consultant says on Wednesday, ask him what the chances are!

Big Hug to you both

Lucy
