Hi again,
yes, am deliberating whether to be honest, which I kind of owe my boss, but might leave that until I absolutely have to (like establishing client contacts, when I'm going to disappear in a few months), but at the moment I shall just be playing the 'new kid' thing.
Sorry, no idea what beta results are, my clinic just told me that they were good results and clearly showed I was pregnant. I'm happy with that, because if I know I would only stress over them either being 'too low' or 'too high'....so for now I'm happy the bloods are OK and wait for a long 2 weeks until the scan and hopefully a little heartbeat on the 9th of March!!! Yippee!
Debra, how's your back? Any better? How did it happen with you then re results. Did they first tell you that you're pg and then give you the beta results later?
Thanks for adding me to the feb test dates, no problem.
So, will we - Laura included - switch to the 'pregnent after treatment' board at some point or just stay here? Right now I feel it's a bit premature, but maybe once I'm 'released' into normal antenatal care I might feel brave enough to actually call myself pregnant...!
Have a great evening everyone. Heaps and heaps and heaps and heaps and heaps and lots more good luck to everyone who's on the IVF waggon!
love,
bina

Hey Girls,
Great news! So happy for all of us! :D
I did a blood test yesterday and it was 918, 5 days after testing. So they were very pleased.
My clinic does the scan on day 35 . Day 1 being egg collection day, so on the 7th week.
But I will be away in France so don't know if I do it there or wait when I get back .
My due date is the 25 th of october, and my test day was the 17th. Just add the extra days from my test day for your due date.
Dominique was born on the 18th of october 02. So if they say about the second arriving a little earlier, Dominique may have to share her birthday!
And our little ones may even share a birthday as well!

Bina: Good luck with your work. I am sure they will be so pleased for you.

Debra: How is your back? Feeling any nausea yet?

And to other girls reading this: Thank you for your kind wishes and let us know if there are plans for a second one !

Speak soon
Love

Bina, I plan to stay here a while. Certainly not jumping over until after the scan. Re.your Q. I home tested twice, they took the beta on Tues, result back yesterday.

Laura, sounds like Octobers are always going to be full of balloons and cake in your house! How wonderful!! Your beta number sounds great. If it were me, I'd probably want to scan earlier but if it's too early and no heartbeat yet, go back again after the holiday.

I went back for another beta today. I'm concerned about another ectopic -even though after last year's rupture, the surgeon promised me she'd sew up both remaining nub-ends of tubes to make sure ectopics could never happen again. An ectopic was supposed to be impossible to begin with as my tubes were tied 15 years ago whilst in a no-child relationship. So, results back tomorrow and we're looking for a nice fat increase.

No nausea at all but have already outgrown my bras...help!
Debra.

Thanks so much for everyone's congrats - so nice to know you girls understand the trauma!
Debra, well done on getting it all checked out! How can tell an ectopic, apart from the blood? I have no idea whether my blood is 'dangerous' or not, just assume the clinic would alert me if there was some doubt... (they did do a good job for me overall, so can't complain at all!). But I am a little worried, as it's still very much a possibility with IVF. Anything we can do to 'avoid' it or at least minimise our chances?

Susan-gosh, twins with 'very good levels' and you went to the Wolfson as well, didn't you? Oh well, I totally don't mind, as long as the outcome is healthy!

No sickness, no boob growth (I'm jealous Debra!), just quiet tired!

So, good night - love to you all,
bina

Bina and Laura,

Congrats on your BFP. Although I just had a baby from our first attempt at IVF, we are considering another round later this year. . .primarily due to my age. It is so encouraging to see success on the second round and I have the same thoughts Bina had when she put up the original post.

Best of luck with your pregnancies girls!

Thanks Sher. I'm still a little in denial. I understanding about wanting to go again soon but I had my first ivf at 38 and DD at 39 so I think you're a youngster!!

Bina, they can tell as the HCG numbers will be slower to rise than the expected doubling every 48 hrs.

Ladies, a very delicate question. DF is discreetly hinting he thinks it's time to get intimate!! I think it too soon, mostly mentally but physically too. What do you think? Don't answer if you don't want, but I'd be glad of reassurance that it's not too early.

thanks

Hi Deb,
Don't mind you bringing this up at all...! Well, I have to say I'm too wimpish to go for it. It's totally in the mind; I'm sure physically it's OK (maybe leave it until after scan day, just to avoid potential for infection?), but I just can't, and DH feels pretty much the same, because we would both be secretly wondering whether what we're doing can affect the little tiny bean inside....also, we didn't do it when we were at this stage first time round and got the perfect little girl, so I'm keen to do the same this time round.
Sorry, this probably doesn't help you, just my thoughts. So, what did the blood levels say?
I'm still not feeling pg, so might do and HPT at the weekend, just to make sure.....(have resisted so far and relied on clinic).

Happy Friday everyone.
love,
bina

Hi, not such a good day. Or maybe...I don't know, I'm confused.

The beta came back at 114, which is a long way from doubling the 84 of Tuesday. I've posted over on Pg after Tmt and several people have confirmed what I'd found elsewhere, that the doubling time is 48-72hours and that slow starts aren't always a disaster.

My clinic have said I can test again on Monday if I want, although they're not desperately worried. They say that people's rate is not always so uniform that you can say 'it has to do x in x amount of time'. There's nothing we can do yet anyway, the scan has to be after an HCG of 2000+ so let's hope these 2 weeks pass super quickly.

Bina, thanks for your reply to my earlier Q. I'm going to wait until the scan now, DF will just have to live with it.

I hope you've both had better days.
hugs
Debra

Hi Debra,
Sorry to hear you're not feeling great about your hormone levels - surely it's encouraging that your clinic don't seem to be that worried. They see this every day and surely would have in incling if something wasn't right. So maybe just trust them that things will turn out fine?!
I never asked for the actual levels for that reason, because it would only get me worried. Like you say, every woman is different and every cycle for every woman is different. It's a positive, that's all that matters! Unfortunately, it looks like there's not much we do, or is there?
So wishing you heaps and heaps of strong nerves, PMA and sheer luck that it'll all be OK! I just think if your HPT is positive at such an early stage then surely your levels must be rising, because my clinic always warn saying that HPTs could be totally wrong and that hormones won't show in urine this early....!
All the best and enjoy the weekend - we're here if you need us!
Love,

Hi Debra:

Don't worry. I trully think you are fine. It is rising after all and I am sure it is just like many pregnancies out there which the beta is never known because they either do it once in the first day or just the urine test.
This wait for the scan is just as bad like the 2ww isn't it?

Bina: How are you feeling? When is your scan?

Zoe: Get on with it! We want to cheer you on for a second one!

As for myself , i had terribe couple of days. Nothing to do with the pregancy thank goodness.
Over a traffic 'incident', I became very upset (hormonal a bit), which made me more upset that I could harm the baby by being upset, if you know what i mean...and started to hyperventilate which in turn led to a panic attack! I never had this before and freaked me out! I now keep thinking if all that adrenalin had any negative effect on the pregnancy. It gave me a huge headache which of course, just paracetamol doesn't help, so....Here I am not feeling any nausea today and thinking...
So sorry if you haven't heard from me lately but thinking of you and hope you are feeling both well.

Speak soon

Laura, are you OK? no damage after the incident? poor you although I read that the idea that a stressed mummy = a stressed baby has been proven false.

A pg friend wrote off her SUV last year hitting a moose in the dark (they're much bigger than horses for non-snow-bound people). The car was a wreck, she and her 8m bump, were fine. Hardly a scratch. Amazing.

Thanks for your support. You're right, if we didn't have the 2nd beta, we'd never know BUT because of last year's ectopic, it's very hard to pretend that the sharp pains might be nothing. Again, we'll just have to see.

Bina, do you feel any more pregnant? I don't, except for sore boobs, nothing.

Take care
Debra
