My insurance won't cover IVF.

Please help me! I feel like I'm the only one who's insurance will not cover IVF. My doctor would like me to try one more round of IUI but has suggested that there is a possibility I'm not producing eggs so IVF is the next step. By the way, IUI is also not covered by my insurance. Is anyone going through the same thing? If I need IVF and my insurance doesn't cover it, then I will have to pray for a miracle.

You have only 2 options. You change your insurance with a new job or pay the money. I think some clinics offer installments.

Thank you for your reply. I am actually covered under my husbands insurance through his employer. He just got a new job but unfortunately is does not cover IUI/IVF either. I already checked into my insurance through my employer and no luck. Clinics do offer financing but unless you have perfect credit they will not finance you for the whole amount, especially if you have to have multiple IVF's. Anyway, thank you for your input. I am in bay area. I went to stanford. If you want to change the clinic, try other clinics. Here it costs about $8000 for regular ER, ET(not including medicines. The pharmacy returns money back if you return the excess medicines). Try your luck by calling other ivf clinics. I hope something clicks

Sorry, majority of insurances will not cover IVF. I was lucky my insurnace covered 50% of IUI (Pacificare). Tip: if you have excellent credit history then sign up for a credit card with a very low interest rate (preferably 0%) and pay that way. My cost in Los Angeles was $10K for the doctor and medication was extra.

if you dont mind me asking which doctor did you go to in Los Angeles. I went to a doctor in Beverly Hills and it costed me almost 14k + meds for 1 cycle of IVF.

My insurance does not cover IVF either. My husband and I own our home so we applied for a home equity line of credit to pay for it. We figure it is worth the risk. Whether it works or not, we have to at least try everything in our power or we afraid we will regret it for the rest of our lives. I did learn one interesting fact - and maybe you already know this - but you can write the IVF expenses (or any other out-of-pocket medical expenses) off of your taxes if the total spent is more that 7% of your gross income. I am saving all of my receipts with my tax folder!

Bebes, for my understanding most insurance do not pay for the IVF. Will pay for the the diaganosis. There is a lot of financial option. When I go back to my dr I could see one they said 0% financial. I know it is a lot of money. I know that feeling. We paid ours out of pocket and we had to do ICSI. Good luck!!!!

i was in the same boat our insurance didnt cover it either but we have managed to save up the money to pay for it out of pocket.i did alot of looking on line and found and awesome clinic that its going for 6,000. and since we do have insurance some of the test we needed done i did with my regular dr and had them faxed over to my clinic so that has helped on the cost of it all then this dr was so wonderfull that he managed to get the meds donated from one of the big company so we can have this done if it wasnt for that we couldnt have this done for us.i know this might not help much but i just wanted to let u know not to give up and i hope one day all insurance companys will have to cover this but till then you will be in my prayers best of luck
