Hi there - I'm new to this site and have been reading different posts for the last couple of months and I have plucked up the courage to send a message.
I am 33 and my DH is 34 and we have been TTC for five years, found out after two that I had blocked fallopian tubes and had surgery to correct them but have never fallen.
We plan to have IVF in Jan 04 (privately) and we are only having one attempt at this but I want to give it 100% (like we all do) but I keep hearing that you have a 50% more success rate at IVF if you have your tubes removed, is this correct?.
I have read all the different threads and it has given me much more hope but I'm just really nervous about this!.

Hi Kyla,
I don't think there is any need for you to worry about this, you are OK doing IVF with blocked tubes providing there is no hydrosalpinx. This is a condition where a blocked tube becomes filled with fluid - which has been proven to reduce chance of IVF success. It seems there are many doctors out there who cannot seem to correctly diagnose this condition!! I am not an expert by any means but if I was you I would get this checked out asap so that if you do need surgery you have plenty of time to recover before your IVF.
Good Luck.

Missy
