Lisa (Lis),
Sorry to intrude but I know my clinic has a lot of sperm banked and they told me at my review consultation last week that there is no shortage of sperm donors there. My husband has 2 straws still frozen but they were offering it as a backup if ever they didn't defrost correctly.
If you are interested the name of the clinic is MFS (Manchester Fertility Clinic) Tel 0161 227 0010. They are very helpful. The cost of IVF using donor sperm is £2370.00 which includes the costs of General Anaestetic but not the drugs, they cost approx another £500.00. Hope this helps.

Best of luck.

Hi girls, today went well, I still cried though, I am such an emotional gal.

Anyways, the doc offered me, IUI or IVF, Basically said health wise I am ok, and there's no reason why I shouldnt fall preg..... Wahooo!!!! But it's like throwing a dice and getting a six, thats his words, later I will throw a dice and see how many times I get six!!!!!

LOL!!!!

He also said he wouldnt hesitate in letting me have IVF, we also talked about Egg sharing, which we need to think about too, right now I feel like I will give IUI one more go then do IVF.....I am keen on sharing my eggs, but how do I feel if I never get preg, and then 18yrs time a child comes seeking me out as the result of my egg share resulting in pregnancy.

I need to think long and hard about it, and weigh it up, would love to hear from anyone who knows anyone who has done egg sharing.......

As for Donor's being in low supply apparently the numbers have dropped, thats true but low supply is not quite true, the donor's my clinic use are from London's woman's clinic and The british fertility clinic in London. Also another clinic but cant remember the name, some like lewis james, or something lewis, I think!!!!

So as it stands right now, after chatting with dh, we both feel IUI 4th cycle is next, Parhaps some time around June.

Oh and also I need to lose at least 2 stone!!! yikes!!!!! so after the appointment I went to tesco's and bought tons of veggies, I have veggies, with cous cous tonight for tea!!!! yummy!!!!
So do u think I will lost 2 stone between now and June?????

Also had a massage this afternoon, I am totally chilled now!!!! shame I have to work tomorrow!!!! Oh well, never mind!!!!!

PMA is high, and I hope it bounces back at all of you ok.......
TTC 6yrs......Have jumped off the rollercoaster for now, too many BFN's and too much heartache, to keep going....Moving on to fulfil other dreams!!!

Hi Nicky
Not spoken to you for so long. Glad to hear all went well at consultation. You sounded very positive, I am sure you will lose the weight needed, you've got a good incentive. Plenty of exercise remember. Good luck and I hope all goes well.

Morning you lovely ladies

Well the snows stopped here and the SUN is shining. Image

I wanted to ask you all a question, I am due to start treatment end of April, I want to take Folic Acid but not sure when to start it???? I didn't start it last time until I was 4 weeks preg. When do you think is a a good time?

Nicki - Great news about the consultation. My consultant said it was like putting the lottery on and winning, I thought I've no chance then, I've never even won £10.00 on it. Yes, you've more chace of throwing a six, did you see how many times you threw a six.....?
If you feel IUI is right for you one more time then you do it. As for egg sharing, I'd feel the same as you, My kuck I wouldn't get preg and the other ladie who had my eggs would.! I'm sure when you've thought about it though for a while you make a decision and things may seem so much clearer.
Good luck on the weight loss thing, you seem a determind women, I'm sure you'll do it... 2 stone seems a lot though by June, its only 3 months.

Have a great weekend everyone. I'm going shopping today, I really do spend to much money, but there's nothing better than a bit of retail therapy, don't ya think.?

Good evening phoenixes - I'm back!! and feeling better than I have over the last 9 days which have truly been the worst 9 days of my life to date! I had a great time in Newcastle with dh. Had a gorgeous hotel for the night - had lovely lunch and a couple of vinos followed by a browse round town, then really nice Italian meal and a few more drinks in some wine bars before staggering home. Today we went to the Metro centre and had retail therapy in the name of a Bench dress and for dh, a jacket from USC which he looks very sexy in! 8) Came home about 5 pm.

Will try update on what's been happening then onto the personals. Phoned a few more units yesterday and basically can't get iui in Scotland - CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!!! Phoned Manchester and Darlington (thanks Macca - your right about Manchester) who both say no problems with shortage of sperm and either place will take us on - RESULT!! Interestingly Darlington do IUI with meds as opposed to natural cycle and their success rate is 50 - 70% per cycle whilst the average is under 15%. I'm thinking how can that be??? That's fantastic odds!! The person I spoke to says she recognises this is way higher than the national average - their price is almost 3 times as expensive than anywhere else!!! but I guess that's why. Getting lab results on Monday which will determine whether its worth dh having second biopsy and if so its down the icsi or ivf with donor on the day if negative biopsy route so either way we'll know on Monday. Extremely unlikely that the lab results will be positive so now I'm thinking, how long do we give the hospital to decide whether they agree to give us ivf with donor as first line tmt.... should I just bite the bullet and go South for iui......?? After all, they would actually prefer me to do that but just can't offer it to me. Also they talked about trying to get funding to pay donors/buy in from abroad so they could offer iui again but haven't had decision yet... how long do i leave it for them to decide?? I work for the nhs and know how they work - ie thy can be useless!!
]So many questions and answers I need... dh still in pain and still can't drive or do exercise. Even getting jiggy causes him pain  They didn't tell us that 2 weeks ago! He has been so strong, bless him ...

Smita - thanks for all your support - I'm touched. How is baby Dhruvva?? Hope you are enjoyong motherhood to the full.

Lucy - glad your fsh was good and appt went well. Enjoy your time with your neice tomorow. How old is she??

Nicki - doll, fantastic news!! You'll lose those pounds in no time your such a highly motivated girlie!! Youare going to be PG this year for sure :D Thanks for all you info - see above. What do you think about Darlington Stats?? Also loved your pma on adjusting to the whole donor thing.. think it might be rubbing off on me :)

MLG - hope you're doin ok on the meds. Keep that pma high girl and try to keep calm (as is humanly possible!) at work. You will be PG soon!! :D :D

Julie - have a fab time on the ralley day. Sounds fab - hope you got their ok and thanks for all your support on the pm's

Lola - hope your having a fab holiday you lucky thing, you must make us all jealous with your stories when you get back

Rachel - welcome back hope you're ok. Keep us posted.

Jen - hun how are you?? How was Aveimore - hope you had a fab time and really destressed. Looking forward to hearing from you soon. And how was dinner dance??

Paula - hope you got the answers ypou were looking for. Good luck.

Gail - hope you're having a bliss time in Egypt

Sally - how's you these days??

Sorry if I've missed anyone.

Well all that's left for me to say is I went to the gp ysterday for a sick line as should have been back to ork on Thursday and really not ready. Was feeling calm but once I got in there, was bubbling away and pouring out the whole story! The gp was fab and just handed me a big box of tissues. Have another week off. Feel a bit bad but really don't think I could leave dh on his own and also he can't drive anywher or walk for long periods so would be stranded! But I'm also still adjusting to this whole donor thing.... I so wanted dh's baby and no one elses ..it meant so much to me and its so utterly devastating that its never going to happen. Its so hard for us both to come to terms with the fact we'll never have that special little one that's part of us both........ but hey ho, we have to do what we have to do and dh realy really wants the donor thing to work and is behind it 200% so that's that.

Sorry for ranting and making you read this MAMMOTH message!

Sounds like everything went really well at the hospital - big hugs and loads of PMA to you and DH. I shall keep everything crossed for you.

... and of course you'll lose that weight, your determination will do it.

Good Morning phoenixes.

I'm up surprisingly early for a sunday morning, (8.00am) plus me and DH went out last night, was in for 11.45pm though.

I've had a really good weekend so far, Friday me and DP went to see 'derailed' it was very good. Yesterday we went shopping, DP got a lovely lightweight coat and a couple of t-shirts from flannels and I got some new boots from Office and a lovely top from French Connection, and bought my niece a gorgeous outfit for her birthday which is coming up soon. Then we went for a nice pub lunch. Last night we went into town for a few vinos (only me though, DP doesn't drink anymore) so got a bit tipsy on my own. But we had a good night.

Today I'm spending the day with my niece, she'll be three in two weeks. Not sure what we're going to do yet, last time I saw her, she wanted to go on a train (don't know where she's got that from, probably thomas the tank engine or one them programmes on C-BEEBIES) So we'll see. Then tonight me and DP are going to see 'fianl destination 3' 1 and 2 were brilliant, so really looking forward to seeing 3.

I'm off work Monday and Tuesday also, so a nice long weekend for me, I'm not doing much though. Then next week I'm going to France to visit my mum, I'll try update list.

Lis - Glad your feeling a lot better and you had a good time in newcastle. Darlington have got good success rates. Hope its good news for you on Monday. Keep chasing them for that decison on NHS funding, I also work for NHS and know what its like, its so slack. It all seems very confusing with IUI, IVF, donor etc, your head must be in a bit of a spin.? Unless thats just me being useless........Take as much time off work as you need, I had a spell off work and it did me the world of good, when I didn't feel ready to go back, my doc just signed me off.

Julie - Have a great time in Yorkshire today.

Rachel - great to hear from you again, I was wondering where you'd gone. Hope your OK huni. I am goign to start Folic Acid in the morning. So we might be cycling together, that'll be good. Take Care

Smita - Hope your OK? How is baby Dhruvva doing.?

MLG - How are you? Hows the meds, hope your not feeling YUK on them.

Jen - Thinks its today you get back from skiing, hope you had a great time, can't wait to hear all about it.

Well I'm going to get dressed now. Sorry for rambling, feel like I've told my every move for weekend (soz)

Take Care everyone.
