Hi i just found out my first ivf cycle did not work. I also found out that of the 8 fertilized eggs onkly 2 eggs were grade 1 and all the rest were not good. The rest did not make to freezing. Does this mean my eggs are of bad quality. Any input would be appreciated.
thanks
Hi anu, sorry to hear your news. Re: your embies, were they going for 3 day or Blastocyst? What grade did they actually give your other 6 embies? It’s hard to know if your eggs are good or not but I think it would be best to talk with your medical team about that and see if they suggest DE for your next attempt (if you’re having one).
Sorry, couldn’t give you a great response but didn’t want your post to go unanswered.
I was in a similar situation to you, I got 8 eggs, 5 fertilized, only 2 were good enough to go back in me, 1 was a grade 2 and 1 was a grade 1, the others that were not good enough to freeze were 1 grade 3 and two grade 4, they won't freeze them if they are grade 3 and under, as they don't survive the thow. I hope this makes sense.
I also wondered if my eggs were poor quality as I also have higher FSH than I should, but my doctor said my eggs were fine. Do you know what your FSH level is, maybe that would give you better understanding to weather your eggs are good or poor quality, there is a test you can have done to see if your eggs are good quality but I'm not sure what its called
You did get a grade 1 though, thats great, the best infact. I'm sure your eggs are fine, but if your concerned speak with your doc.
Hope this helps, sorry for rambling on.

All your eggs wont be the same. This is why you had a mixture of grading. I was the same. I had a few grade 1's, grade 3's & 4's. I never had any frozen either. My doctor told me that it is very much down to chance when the grades vary like that. It would be different if you only ever produced 4-6 grades, then that would indicate a problem with either egg or sperm. I think you will be fine honey.

Hi Anu, I had 5 eggs but only 2 survived and both were grade 2...Guess what It worked and worked so so so well and got me pregnant with quads (4) But unfortunately 2 didn't make it and 2 survived and they are doing fine as today. Thanks god!
That is absolutely fantastic!! Congratulations!! My last transfer was a grade 1.5 and a 2 but unfortunately BFN! Will hopefully be trying again in the next couple of months. Hearing good news stories from people like yourself gives hope to all of us still trying. Good luck!
