No prob, Nicki.

I actually tried the clomid before doing my IUI's. Make sure you drink lots of water as it can dry out your CM.

My meds were Puregon, which worked for me. And there is a small risk of carrying more than one baby, I'm pg with twins. But the risk is relatively low as they start you on low doses, and will cancel if too many follies grow.\

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice and congratulations!!
We'll see how this one works. A little nervous, but it can't be as bad as IVF. My tubes were clear (thank goodness) so waiting for AF to arrive, which should be in the next couple of days.
Thanks again and hope the sickness stops soon!

Well, Nicki...that's a very good question! I have no idea :? I posted the whole sorted story over on the 30-40 thread, but in a nutshell, my cycles have been wierd since Dec tmt. Had a 24 day cycle (took me by surprise), then a 28 day cycle (thinking, phew! back to normal!), and I was actually checking for LH surge to hopefully go for IUI this weekend, when...surprise  AF came...after only a 16 day cycle!

So, my plan is to treat this like my regular AF and start looking for my surge about next Sunday...then we'll see!

We are going away in April for 2 wks, so hoping by that point we'll be celebrating our success and spending sunset strolls on the beach contemplating our life ahead as parents!

Jan are u doing IUI with drugs??? Or natural cycle?? As if u are on drugs then parhaps they have changed your cycle length, what do ur clinic say about it???

How strange? but hoping you get BFN in April. good Luck.

Let me know when ur get the surge, Do u have regular scans to monitor ur follies??? As surely they would pick up then why AF was coming earlier.

All the best xxx

Hi Nicki,

Nope, no drugs...au naturel all the way so far. :) So, I simply monitor my surge (pee stick), call them when positive, and go the next day for IUI...that's it.

I did ask about IVF after last cycle's BFN, but they said that they don't necessarily have to go that route next...they'd likely try me with drugs first. I think they really don't want to go too invasive, as since there is no problem with me, it should really be like falling off a horse with some great swimmers...

So, we're saying one more try naturally (if you can call artificial insemination 'natural' :? ) and then take some time out to decide next steps. The cost is the real kicker for us...it's so expensive, and we're going on 5 tries now. It's so heartbreaking and you want it so much that it's hard to say when enough is enough...even if you are going in debt pursuing it...!

Ah well, I'm sure there's some bigger meaning out there for all of us having to go through all this...!

Take care,

Jan

Whats the cost in Canada??

I am paying £850 ish per iui cycle, it does hurt after 3 atemps, so i am with u on that one.

Are u using donor sperm??

Can ask whats wrong wth dh's sperm??

Seems odd no scans for iui in Canada, every where is so different.

Good luck xx

Hi girls I hope you don't mind me posting on your thread but looking for some advice. My dh unfortunately went through sperm retreival last week and got a negative result so now I think its DIUI for us. Scotland can't treat us at all due to lack of sperm brought about by anonymity being lifted so I've been searching for clinics in England. Darlington told me their success rate is 50% upwards with a medicated iui - that sounds so high but I'm sure I picked it up right - just wondered what you ladies thought and also what you thought about iui au naturel as opposed to with drugs?

Any advice much appreciated.

Hi Lis

My hospital only offered IUI with drugs. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I was terrified that I wouldn't be able to inject myself but it was really easy. I have GONAL for 7 days. I was scanned at the begining and again on day 6. At that point I had 2 folies of 16mm and 1 of 13 so I had another shot of Gonal on day 7 in the morning and then the HCG in the evening. The HCG did seem a little be scarry as you have to mix up the shot yourself but afterwards I wondered what I had been worried about.

I had the IUI on 25/2 and am on 2ww. The waiting is definately the hardest bit.

Hope my story helps a bit. I think many people are put off doing IUI with meds but it isn't that bad and I didn't get any side effects. Just hoping now that it has worked.
