Hi everyone, just thought i'd tell you how angry i was on saturday when i started my 3rd iui, when i rung up on friday to see if i could start tmt they told me they needed a copy of my last smear for me to be able to have tmt, i told the nurse on the phone that i had already handed this in on the 1st month of tmt, she didn't sound very happy which put me in a mood, and told me to go to the hospital on sat morning.
Bit of background info, when i had my smear on the nhs in jan it came back as not enough cells to be able to get a reslult, i was that worried that i would lose my ivf place cos the nhs said i had to wait a further 3 months for another smear so i went private and got the results back in a week and everything was fine, no probs.
When i went for my 1st iui i handed the letter in to the nurse and everything was fine, had tmt last month nobody mentioned the letter then on saturday, the nurse turned round and said they couldn't treat us cos they hadn't got my results of smear i told her that we had handed it in and she just looked at us as if we were liars, she kept looking at dp and i felt she was trying to catch us out, she just kept saying legally we can't treat you, when dp said well how come you have treated us the last 2 months if you did not have it she wouldn't answer us, i was so upset and she just kept saying 'don't think we'll treat you' she eventually told us that if we didn't get a copy of the letter to her by tues we could not carry on with tmt. I was so upset but when we came out of the hospital i got angry, she made me feel like i was telling lies, but i knew i wasn't and i also knew that i'd given them the letter but i couldn't prove it. I rung my gp up this morning and they werent much help moaning about how monday morning is for emergencies, this is an emergency!!!!!!
I then rang Bupa and within 2 mins they had faxed me a copy of the letter with no probs, i rung the hospital to speak to the nurse but she was off, the other nurses said there was no way i had to make a special journey to take the letter just to turn up for my day 8 scan as normal and give it in then, they sounded really suprised that the other nurse was making me go to the hospital just to take that letter, i think she was having a crap morning and decided to take it out on us.
Oh well got that off my chest now and i've also photocopied the letter 10 times i'm gonna ask her how many copies she'd like!!!

AS IF ITS NOT STRESSFULL ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!
speak to you soon
Jackie

Oh Jackie I really feel your frustration and hopefully you feel a bit better for getting it all down in print !!!! What dreadful treatment you've had - it could only come from people with absolutely no experience themselves of just how stressful it all is. Why do they employ these unfeeling people? It's amazing how many of them you find in the (so called) "caring" professions!!!

At least you've got your copy letter and you can wave it triumphantly at them!!! I wish you lots & lots of luck for your treatment - if its true that good things come to those who wait then you deserve good things!!

Lots of Love & best of luck - Jo. XXXXXXXXX.
Oh Jackie, that's so appalling. It does though remind me of something that happened with our GP when we were being referred for IVF (apologies, its a bit long, but hope it makes you smile).

Like everyone else, we had to get ourselves HIV tested before starting treatment. I got mine but DH, being a bit scared of needles, put it off a couple of weeks. Anyway, I had mine done and they phoned and gave the all clear, and then a week or two after he'd had his done he got a call at work from the GP surgery saying he needed to talk to his doctor about his HIV test result! Well, you can imagine, he had all sorts going through his head! He asked to speak to a dr straight away but there was no-one there, just the receptionist saying the doctor would call back in a couple of hours! Naturally, they were the worst couple of hours in his life...

Anyway, when eventually he did speak to the doctor it turned out that his hepatitis results had come back but not the HIV results, so the doctor had written a note TO THE RECEPTIONIST saying please speak about the HIV results, i.e. to chase them up from the hospital! The receptionist had misunderstood and thought it meant that DH needed to talk to the doctor about the HIV results!

Anyway, I hope when you go back the nasty nurse is there so you can show her your letter in person. Witch!

Alison x
