After Consultataion

Post by oneday »

Hi,

I'm new to this site although I am overwelmed at how informative and supportive it is. I'm 33 and have known that I would have problems concieving since I was 20, I have PCOS and my husband has a genetic disorder! 13 years later and waiting :?

Myself and my husband have agreed that DI/IUI or IVF or ICSI is our best chance!! It is clear that all these treatments have physical and mental side effects, yet our main concern is do we have to have IUI first or can we opt for IVF or ICSI straight away?

I have numerous articles and facts on all three, yet we still are not sure what to do :?:

HI ONEDAY
JUST THOUGHT I'D SAY HI. I'VE ALSO FOUND THE ADVICE AND SUPPORT ON THIS SITE REALLY USEFUL. UNLIKE YOU I HAVE JUST FOUND OUT IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS THAT I AM UNLIKELY TO CONCEIVE NATURALLY.
I HAVE NOW HAD ALL THE TESTS AND HAVE BEEN REFFERED FOR ASSISTED CONCEPTION. MY DR HAS ADVISED US TO TRY IUI FIRST WHICH I WAS FINE WITH AS IT DOESN'T SEEM AS SCARY AS IVF. I'VE NOW READ SO MAY REPORTS THAT MOST PEOPLE WHO HAVE IUI GO ON TO HAVE IVF.
I FEEL REALLY CONFUSED BUT I HAVE MY FIRST CONSULTATION AT THE CLINIC NEXT MONTH SO HOPE THINGS WILL BE CLEARER THEN.

GOOD LUCK

Hi Green.

Just like you, I also have concerns on IUI, I appreciate that there are many success stories BUT a majority on this site imo seem to have three attempts then go on to IVF!!!!

Like you in three weeks time I will have a clearer picture, so will keep you updated with my test and HSG results.

Keep in touch.

Hi I am also new to this site. I have had blocked tubes for 10 years which were unblocked in November. Our consultant refered us for IVF on NHS last May which we are told we will receive in May. Then in December the Dr sugested IUI which we are now trying for. Don't think you have to do IUI first but I think it is less invasive so worth giving a go first.

Good Luck

Hello, all

I am new to this site also and have my first consultation mar, 7, this coming Tuesday!
I'm 34, my DH - 37. Have a son (10 yo) from my first marriage. Now TTC for 2.5 years. Currently 6th period on clomid with no sucess
I'm so anxious about what Doc will offer, IUI or IVF and how long it'll take for all pre-tests.
Just wanted to share my situation and probably find some support.

Good luck to everyone!

Hi marisha and welcome to the site. I am sure you will get loads of help and support from here. Most of us tend to post on the general forum. I can recomend the 30-40 thread as the girls on there are great. Good luck with the appoinment. Let us know how you get on and which route you are going down.

Hello, thank you for reply. I'll definitely join 30-40 group after i know the results of consultation tomorrow. Kind of nervious already about tomorrow, as decision to go to fertility clinic was a big step for me to take.

Angela, I see you had IUI recently. Is it your first one?
