hi there girls
i need ya help
my lovelly wife charlie is pregant after icsi
we had et on feb 13th and are now 5 weeks or so preg
but poor charlie has ohss and has had for couple of weeks i guess she was in hosp for a while with it too
she has also been getting af type cramps(well she says they are actually af cramps) for about a week she and she is convinced she will miscarry
every pain she gets you can see a look of horror on her facei think she is thinking about it too much and she should try to enjoy being pregnant a bit (i know its hard for her with ohss and stuff just worried about her mental state )
hospital are keeping a close eye on her which is good to know just wish she could stop getting pains and be able to relax a bit
thanks for listening
richard
It is an unbearable wait - I found it harder than 2ww too but you must remember that period type pains are perfectly normal with OHSS - I had them up until about 10 weeks pregnant and then they stopped and I worried for weeks that I wasn't having pains!! Keep reassuring her and reminding her that we never know what tomorrow brings (any of us at any stage of life) BUT she is pregant right now, every day that passes where there is no red blood and where her embies are tucked inside her is a day more that she is pregnant - that's all she needs to think about at the moment - one day at a time. Try and get her to focus on congratulating her body every day because it's another day she has coped - she'll probably worry all pregnancy (like the rest of us) but it gets easier to accept that actually things are just happening in there - mother nature is doiing her thing and all is right with the world. I think after so much struggle we all feel so amazed that things are finally 'working' that it's really hard to believe for the first weeks and months. Everything Charlie's feeling is perfectly normal - just try and get her to relax, lieing on left side is good because it helps gravity assist the body with digestion etc (constipation etc makes OHSS even harder to cope with). Everything's happening as it's meant to happen and this difficult time will pass soon,
Best of luck,
Cherylxxx

i also had the dreaded ohss. i had my first scan last monday and my ovaries were still enormous, no more fluid thankfully. i am still getting painful ovaries and abdominal cramping that feels like af cramps. however i have had no spotting etc so believe itis all down to the uterus expanding and the body coping with healing these ovaries. if charlie is constipated she will also be getting cramps and in the same location! tell her not to worry and just relax, chat to your baby and enjoy.
i believe that we have gotten this far and every day that goes by our babies get stronger and more stuck. i know i won't totally relax until the 13 week mark and until i physically look pregnant won't really believe it is true but it is!
i have been very lucky as apart from the ohss have no other symptoms.
good luck to you both and enjoy!!!

Richard - just the one for me but you'd think it was 5 to look at me! Yes it's our first child and just before our 10th wedding anniversary next year so it's finally worked out really well. I can't believe it's taken so long and yet in other ways it now feels like it's gone so quickly. We're all organised - room done, car seat, pram etc all bought, wardrobe full of clothes etc - I don't believe in being superstitious - I started buying at about 25 weeks and was all done by week 32 which I was grateful for because all I've felt like doing since is lying down! It'll be lovely when you start buying - when do you think you might buy a few bits? Some people let themselves get a little after 12/13 week scan as a sort of celebration. Have you told anyone yet?
Good luck with everything, Hugs and best wishes to Charlie,
Cherylxxx

On the scan(vaginal) they saw the yolk sac and the little embryo - heart flickering away which was v. exciting. They also saw size of ovaries and if any fluid left. She had a good look around but could not get to all of the uterus as ovaries kept getting in the way but so far only one. She did not rule out two but my instinct says only one. She said it was agood thing as more complications with twins and as v. first pregnancy best to make it as easy as possible!
Hope you are feeling better Charlie.

hiya cheryl
yes we hav told a few ppl close family and couple of close freinds
lol when you say you started buying at 25 weeks i would be prepared to bet that we will be all brought out by then i think we will go mad as soon as we pass 12 weeks and will just buy buy buy we already looking through mammas and pappas catalouges and stuff like that
although i thonk the first thing we will need to get is some maternity clothing for charlie with the ohss she very swollen and only a few of her clothes fit her
we had a scan to day and they only saw 1 sac so only 1 in there by the looks of things which is good
are you having a boy or a girl
wot names you got planned?
take care and talk soon
richard charlie
One is perfect - I know you were probably thinking maybe twins because of the high levels but I'm a great believer in things being as they're meant to be and a beautiful singleton will be wonderful. I don't blame you for planning to be shopped out really early - everything is so gorgeous - I probably would have shopped earlier if Christmas hadn't got in the way! We're not sure whether it's a boy or girl yet - are you planning to find out? Don't worry too much about clothes for Charlie - hopefully the swelling will go down soon and she'll gain a bit of time before needing a complete maternity wardrobe.
Glad all is goiing really well for you both,
Cherylxxx
