Follistim Pen - please help

Post by genfan »

Anyone here use Follistim Pen? I've got a very wierd situation here: I have the 600 iu cartridges, and I inject 200 iu daily. So after three days of using the same cartridge, I was expecting to see and discard an empty cartridge. Yet no, I noticed that there are still a considerable amount of medication left in the cartridge. Am I not getting enough meds? I make sure I dial the correct dosage number every time. Anyone having similar things? TIA

Yep, we had the same thing. There is more in the cartridge than what you think (and what the box says). If I remember correctly, we could get 3 injections out of one cartridge. Call it a freebee :)

The Follistim cartridge is overfilled, for some reason. You can actually use the extra medication - set your dose (in your case, 200) and inject it. When it runs out - it doesn't let you push down on the pen anymore. Don't fiddle with the dial - simple unscrew the pen - drop in a new cartridge (you'll have to remove the needle first - it holds the cartridge in place) and inject yourself with the dosage still shown on the dial. If these instructions don't make sense - check with your doctors office - they should be able to show you!
