Hcg levels best indicator for twins?

Post by ravensqueen »

I recently just got a BFP. We had two embies transferred. My first blood test was 62 and the second more then doubled. I am very happy.

My question is did anyone here ever have normal hcg levels and find out they were having twins anyway during their scan?

My RE said she has seen it go both ways and to wait for the scan. Not to rule out twins yet. I am blessed to have one but just wondering if the other one may have snuggled in as well.

hi there
how far past 2ww are you??
my wife was on day 16 after et and she had a reading of 962 which we thought was very high (well in fact it is ) but on her scan they did only 1 baby showing so high levels doesnt always mean twins can mean a strong singleton
this of course isnt to say you dont hav 2 baby in ya tummy right now though!!
are you hoping for twins???
take care and well done on ya bfp

I am pregnant with twins and my hcg levels were over 2000 on my first beta test 12 days past 2 day transfer. I have heard that identical twins can give normal singleton readings, but i wouldnt count on having had both embryos implant with that hcg sorry :(. I hope that i havent offended you by saying that.

I have my fingers crossed for you if you are hoping for twins.

Hi Dawn. I just responded to one of your other posts too. I saw this post of yours (I came to the pregnant board for the first time just like you probably did after our BFP's today!). My hcg was 1200 today which was day 16 after 3 day transfer. I was told that was high. So I was curious just like you if it may be multiples. I'm glad you posted this question. I'll follow the responses and see what others say because I was wondering the same thing. I'd love to hear from some people that had twins and what their hcg level was on their first beta.

Hi there

My hcg levels were completely normal for a singleton pregnancy so I was very shocked at a 7 1/2 week scan to find out that I was having twins. Luckily both have a very strong heartbeat, so I feel positive (or as positive as you can be so early on).

Everyone is totally different when it comes to hormone levels and signs of pregnancy, so you cannot rely on other peoples experiences. I haven't even had any morning sickness, which is another reason why it was a shock with the twins.

All I can say is I felt very very blessed that I had one baby so finding out about the other, was a bonus.

Good luck and I hope that you get the news you are after.

First of all Jaymee no offense taken. I am truly blessed just to be having one.
I was just wondering .. could both have implanted and would the hcg definitely show it?

My 2ww is only a 10 day wait. Today would be day 15. It just seems my belly is big already. Maybe it is because I have 2 boys already ... age 17 and 12. Maybe a third pregnancy is different and you show quicker.
In any case my first scan is scheduled on Thursday so we will see.

Richard, good luck for you and Charlie.
Krista it will be nice to have someone in the same time line to be pregnant with.
Jaymee good luck as well.
Chellejaya thank you for the input .... it goes right with what my RE was saying.

Thank you for all your responses!!

RAVENSQUEEN...

WE HAD TWO EMBIES TRANSFERRED AND TO OUR AMAZMENT, BOTH OF THEM TOOK. I WAS LIKE YOU THERE WERE NO SYMPTOMS, AND MY HCG LEVELS JUST DOUBLED FOR MY FOUR BLOOD TESTS. WE ARE 11 WEEKS ALONG AND THE HEARTS ARE BEATING AND THEY ARE GROWING, GOOD LUCK
