Embryo Grading

Post by ravensqueen »

I am currently 4 days post transfer. 1st IVF cycle. They had retrieved 7 eggs ... 2 were poor quality and were not injected. They did ICSI on the other 5. Only 2 fertilized. One was a 6 cell and one was an eight cell. I also had assisted hatching. The grading my physician gave them was B+ for both of them and felt very hopeful. When I read this message board I am seeing the grading done as an 1,2,3,3. Has anyone heard of a B+?

My doctor also graded them on a scale of A to F, with A being the best just like in school. I'm also not familiar with the numbering scale... maybe it is a European thing. We had 2 A-, 3 B+, and 2 B. Doc said all were very good, so I'd have confidence in your B+. Hope this helps.

I'm in the US and my RE uses the letter grading system as well. I'm in my 2ww right now. I had 12 eggs retreived, ICSI on 10 of them, 8 of them fertilized. Of the 8, 3 were a grade A, 8 cell, so they transferred all 3 in me. The other 5 were not of good enough quality to freeze. My blood test is Thursday. Thank goodness the 2ww is almost over.

Thank you both so much for responding. I guess my grade B+ embryos were good enough. I got a BFP!! I go for my scan on Thursday. Let me know how your test goes. Good luck!

Dawn,

Congratulations! I just got a BPF today too!!! Isn't it exciting?! I'm still in shock today and can't believe it really worked. This was my first IVF cycle too. With the low % of sucess and all the times I hear that people have to try it, I was suprised that it worked for me on the first try. I'm so thankful and blessed that it did. My hcg level was 1200 today which they said is really high, so they aren't going to monitor it and retest it again. Your first scan is really soon, compared to how they do it here. I'm in the US. My first scan is in 2 weeks. They said they will be able to tell if there's more than one baby at that time (remember I'm the one who had 3 grade A's transferred in). Anyway, congratulations, I'm so happy for you!
