Hey everyone. I joined this site about a week ago but I have yet to formerly introduce myself so here goes. My name is Lisa and my husband and I have been TTC for 4 1/2 years. After a year of trying, we had some tests done and discovered that both of my tubes were completely blocked to to hydrosalpinx (sp?). I had laproscopic surgery in May of 2004 and my doc repaired both tubes -but said they were still damaged and gave me a 20% chance of conceiving naturally, with a heightened risk of eptopic pregnancy. The good news is, my uterus is good, my ovaries are good, and my dh's sperm is strong! After taking some time to think about our next move ( and save $$ since my insurance won't pay), my dh and i are now going through our first IVF cycle. I started Lupron on 2/24, and I am scheduled to start stims on 3/18. I think that discovering this site is one of the best things to happen to me b/c is very difficult to find people that can relate to my situation. I have already joined in the March/April buddies thread and I thank you for the advice and comfort I have found there. I have a great admiration for all of you women (and men) b/c I know how heart-wrenching can be. In the past few weeks, six different women (cousins, wives of co-workers, you name it) have announced they are pregnant. Instead of letting this bother me and making me fume with jealousy (which it did at first) and I going to take it as a good omen!! So good luck to all of you in your mission to have a baby - I feel like it is going to happen for us!!

Hello Lisa, I am new to the site as well although I am not new to IVF. I just completed my second round and am dealing with the dreaded 2WW. I know exactly what you mean about people around you getting pregnant, that I think is still the hardest thing for me. How selfish I know but I can not help it. Good luck and God Bless!

Thanks, Jan and Julie, for the welcomes. PMA back to you both! I have been my own personal cheerleader now for weeks -trying to get my mind right when I start to feel negative. I just saw my doc again this morning for my baseline scan - and everything looks good. He stressed, again, the power of positive thinking. WE ARE GOING TO GET PREGNANT!! Good luck to you all!

Hi Lisa and welcome to this site

Like you I have had my tubes unblocked with surgery. We are trying the IUI route first and if that doesn't work have got one session of IVF booked for May.

As Jan said come over and join us on the 30-40 thread. You will get loads of support there.

Hi Angela!! Good luck with your IUI. My doc didn't really mention IUI as an option. He said my tubes were so bad that he recommended going straight to IVF. My dh and I tried for 18 mos. after surgery hoping for that 20% chance to kick in but no such luck. So, IVF it is.

I hope things work out for you and I look forward to chatting with you on the 30-40 thread!

Hey girls - thanks for the supportive words. Bulldog - to answer your question, I have been doing Lupron injections since 2/24. One very strange symptom I have had which is not mentioned in anything I have read is I have been having really, really strange dreams. I mean crazy stuff - I was rocking out with my older brother at a Twisted Sister concert last night!! (for those who don't know - they are an old metal hair band from the 80's) I woke up thinking "what the...???" Anyway, I start my stimms on 3/18. I had my baseline scan and bloodwork yesterday and they said everything looks good. I guess this is when the hormone swings kick in. (my poor dh - lol)

Well good luck to you with your test dates. I will keep my fingers crossed for good news!!

Lisa,I do not remember having any weird dreams, I do recall having a hard time sleeping. Asante I had my transfer on 3/9, I was wondering if you are experiencing any bloating? I am so bloated it is crazy. I have my beta on 3/23 when is yours?

Hi Lisa

Both my tubes are blocked. Dr not sure why. I have an auto-immune disorder - sarcoidosis - but they are not sure. Anyway we are in the same boat. They have sent me straight to ivf as they are so bad that tey are not sure whether they can be repaired and becuaes of my age.

I take some comfort in that they know what it is and this should not effect the chances of ivf.

I am down regging on buserlin injections right now for 18 days.

Trying to take it a step at a time.

This site is a fantastic help.
