Good afternoon all. Wish I had something to contribute to talk about stimms, follicles, etc. but I don't start traveling down that road until this weekend. I have heard that less eggs usually mean higher quality - but who knows?

Allison - as far as the needle thing goes, my dh will never come around. They almost had to sedate him one time just to take his blood and one time I popped a blister on his finger with a small needle and he fainted - no joke! Luckily one of my dearest friends is a nurse and she will be giving me my progesterone shots.

Deidre, Daly - how did those ER's go?

Have a great day everyone.

Good Afternoon all

Well it is now 2 days until my next scan, after 5 days of menopour. I am trying to stay chilled this time as there was one folicule on my right side on the last scan. If that is the one that develops we may have to cancel this cycle as my right tube is the one that had to be unblocked.

I have also got a really pounding headache today. Not sure if this is a side effect of the meds, has anyone had this? Also I seem to have put on loads of weight. I stood on the scales this morning and it is 1/2 a stone since I started IUI. I know I have not been good but I didn't think I had been that bad. Again I wonder if it is a side effect as I feel very bloated.

Well I hope you are all well

Hey Angela,

I hope your cycle doesn't get terminated. It only take 1 but I know they want to have more to work with.

I have noticed headaches since I have been taking Lupron. I think any of these fertility meds are prone to giving headaches. Ok I am from US, what is a stone?! I go by pounds here! I really am proud of myself...my DH and I were determined to lose weight before we started this cycle - he has lost 20 lbs and I have lost 15 lbs. Hopefully I wont gain it back...unless I get pregnant and then it's ok!!!
So how many stones have I lost?!

Hi fullofaith. 1 stone is 14 lbs. I had to lose 28 lbs to get on the waiting list for IVF and I actually managed 37 but have now put 7 back on so only have 2 more to play with to ensure that my BMI is less than 30. so it is back to being good and counting the points of everything I eat. I had decided not to count points while undergoing treatment to cut down on the stress. However if this doesn't work I will be well pe****ed off if I am then too heavy to be able to start IVF.

Good luck to everyone else. How are you all gettng on. Is anyone near to testing yet?

Dream

Post by melliot7 »

Let me tell you what seems to be unreal. We had a new girl start here at work. She came in yesterday and stated that she had a dream about me and some man I can only assume it was DH and that we were holding our own baby with bright red hair. Now I think this is really wierd because she knows nothing about me or that we are even trying. Just to out of the blue and say this is so mind bogguling. This is only our 1st try at IVF. Maybe its a sign.

Has anyone else had any signs?

Hey Melissa,
That is so cool! I love stories like that!

Back in January I was at church one Sunday and was feeling so down. Really hopeless...and I was praying towards the end of the service. We were dismissed and this woman who I really don't know at all (just know of her) came up to me and hugged me. As she held me she whispered in my ear, "I don't know what you are believing for but I really felt that God spoke to me to tell you DON'T GIVE UP." Some things are worth the wait she said.

I was blown away..really felt like my prayers were being heard and it gave me so much hope.

I hope your little story gives you hope too and that her vision comes true!! I'm sure you'll take a baby any hair color you can get - even bright red!! :P

I was at a party a couple of years back and the host had a palm-reader there. Now I don't know how much of that stuff I believe - but she really freaked me out. She held my palm in her hand and told me that she knew I didn't have children, but that I wanted them, yet she saw a struggle in the road ahead before I would have them. Then she asked me if twins run in me or my husbands family and I said no. 2 months later I found out my tubes were blocked and that I would most likely have to do IVF to get pg. As we know - there is an increased likelihood of twins now. She said twin boys - to be exact. Nobody at that party knew I was ttc and that I was having difficulty. For me it was just too weird that she knew all of that. I pray she is right about the twin boys!! :)

I would take any sign I could get - maybe the girl at your work is psychic!

Hey everyone! (sorry this is excruciatingly long, but there are soo many great people in our buddy list and I've been off for over a day!)

My EC went wonderfully! Just now becoming more awake and am so relieved! My RE tends to be a bit conservative in his preliminary counts and turns out I got 7 eggs! (I was only predicted to get 5) I don't know yet the quality or maturity. Hoping to get 50% fertilized. Fingers and evedrything else crossed. Thank you sooooo much for everyone's support. It means so much. Image

Jen - I'm not sure what to advise with this whole supplement business. I have read and checked with my acupuncturist abou the arginine and carnitine. they are supposed to be very supportive of ovary and egg function. The other supplements are mentioned in Zita's book for high fsh and recurrent mc. (my problems) I think they helped because my quality of egg last time was very good and my RE was really surprised given my history. I only started these last summer. I did read that women have iimproved fertiltiy after certain supplements including B vitamins, vit E, Vit D, magnesium for mc's, (all these are luckily found in a good prenatal) Zita also swears by omega 3's found in fish oil. Sorry if this is overwhelming! I double checked everything with my acupunturist and Zita West's book. I don't think it's too late to pick and choose some supplements you feel you need. There's interesting evidence on amino acids arginine and carnitine. Let me know what you think of those!

Allison - thank you so much for your prayers! I think they heard you and added a couple buddy eggs to the pack!! I'll be praying for your liitle frosties! That is a hilarious sample story!! I'm amazed your dh could keep his "focus"!!

Lisa - That psychic would certainly make me think...I would love twins as well. Why not 2 for 1 after all this. Sending you some warm California sun as well. Only a couple days before you start stims!!!

Mellisa - Any bright red hair in yours or dh's family? I know plently of people with a surprise red-head. they can pop up out of nowhere. I love that story and have always felt dreams can be powerful. HOping you get a little red fireball! Good luck and give your beagles a squish from me. I love dogs and have 2 poms of my own!

Wendy - Here's a little jig for your stubborn AF. She can be so inconsiderate! Good luck at your appt! Image

Lisa - My dh also complains of his "red room" (love the name you gave it). This morning at my extraction he was jokingly complaining of his "extraction" and asking if he gets a local or general anesthesia...Men really do have a easier go at this. You're starting stimms soooo soon. I know this waiting we are always doing can be unbearable. Good luck!! It will go great!

Angela - I'm really hoping your cycle continues. There are so many hurdles during these cycles, let alone just to get to one. We thought we had to cancel last cycle because no eggs fertized at first check and we were truly devastated. Thinking very skinny thoughts for you! These meds are VERY bloating. I hope your RE takes that into account. Water weight gain is so labile. These medications are certainly not conducive to weight loss :? I have 2 sets of pants now and haven't worn the original pair for some time!

Kelly - you poor dear having to work so early. I was whining about my EC time of 6 am. At least that is for a worthy cause! Hope you're getting good rest. Amazing how strong you are for hpt. We'll see if my addiction gets the best of me. Here's a jig for your AF. (never around when you want her..only when you don't!) Image

Sammy - I agree with Allison. My friend had 2 cycles in US and developed 30 plus follicles. The egg quality was terrivble and they considered even cancelling them. She then moved back to Finland and they were shocked at the dose she was given and really backed down her meds to 6-8 follicles. She has a beautiful baby girl now after 2nd cycle in Finland and the quality of eggs was enormously improved. I think REs really need soem time to get to know our bodies. Some people can stim to 30 + eggs and maintain quality. But, given your history it sounds wise to try with lower meds. Good luck!!

Huge Hellos to everyone one I missed. We are a big bunch!! Must mean pregnancies are in the air! PMA for everyone. Here's some follie fairie dust for everyone getting ready to stim or stimming already!

Daly
Glad to hear your egg retrieval went well. I had mine done on Tues - and i'm still recovering. The doctor ended up stitching up a tear that was created during the process - and now I'm hobbling around like a little old lady. I can buck up and accept the pain...I just hope it doesn't interfer with my transfer! For those who haven't undergone the retrieval yet - don't panic - after purusing these boards it seems that my experience is unusual.

Hi girls

Just thought I'd let you know that I'm still waiting for AF - how inconsiderate of her not to show when she's required!

Sammylou - Image - try to keep smiling and enjoy your day. Do you have anything special planned? - what the other girls have said about lowering meds etc. seems to be what I've read happens.

Angela - don't worry about the weight gain - I think I gained about half a stone during the last cycle, but as it didn't work it didn't take long to drop back off again once I'd stopped the meds, admittidly I did watch what I was eating, but not to the extremes that I had when I was trying to loose weight last year.
B4 I started IVF I started loosing weight - my target was 3 1/2 stone, I managed 2 1/2 b4 Christmas (good job I did otherwise my BMI would have been too high) and know I really should try harder to loose the last stone, but since Christmas and the BFN I've not really tried too hard - I have now decided that if I get a BFP then I won't need to worry about the extra stone, but if I get a BFN then it will be better weather and I can go back to salads etc for a while! - Good luck with scan tomorrow

Melissa, Allison & Lisa - I do believe that people have preminitions about what is going to happen and that they should be used to give us hope, after it was announced that London had got the Olympics my sister's reaction was "Well that now leaves us open to major terrorism" and what happened, all the bombings in London - she also has predicted other things - she's never had any preminitions about me, but then I don't know if she'd tell me or not.

Daly & Deirdre I'm gald EC went well, when are you transfering?

Tapim, Kerri & anyone else still waiting 4 AF - this is for us Image

I did get to leave work early yesterday, as I had to go with DH back to the Eye Clinic, so left about 1.30, my normal hours are between 7.30 & 8am - 4 pm, sometimes though I'm still here at 6pm & every Friday I work 6am - 4.30pm - I'm a Health & Safety Officer for a construction company so what happens each day usually determines the hours I do.

Lola - good luck with scan today

Niccy - how did your appointment go yesterday?

Diane - I know your not logging on at the mo, but thinking about you and hope everythings going OK.

Jen - good luck with scan tomorrow

 Hi gang

Kelly - Thanks for your good luck wishes fr my scan. Hopefully i will get to start stimming over the weekend although i don't like needles i use my Emla cream to numb the area first, big wimp eh  . It's quite frightening as things really then start to move fast and i'm dreading the 2ww again.

Daly - Thanks for your advice but i'm even more confused now. I think my folic acid tablets already have all the Vit B, D E etc but might invest in some Omega 3. Now put your feet up and get pampered by your DH  .

I don't know about you guys but at 36 i always feel a bit old and wish i had found out years ago that imy tubes are blocked. However after watching tv last night (The Oldest Parent in Britain) i feel like a spring chichen. Did anyone see it? What did you think?

Well am off to do a late shift at 2 so must go. Will catch up with you all tomorrow after my scan.

Love to you all

Jen,

I saw that programme advertised & as most of the parents were old enough to be my parents I felt that maybe I was too young to be going through IVF!! - then reality kicked in and I thought again.

I'm interested to see the Trevor Eve programme that starts next week, I think it's called The Family Man and although it's only fiction, I want to see how close to real life it is - from what I've read Trevor Eve is the consultant and there's patients wanting different types of IVF, one wants to choose the sex of the child, another is an egg donor, another needs an egg donor etc.

Take Care

Hello girls! Hi and good wishes to everyone - I always enjoy reading your posts. I would respond to all individually right now but I am at work and it looks like it's going to be a busy day today.

I want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! to Sammylou. I assume this is the big
3-0?? I hit that mark last June and it is hard when other women younger than you are having babies all of the time. But remember - we are still very young by today's standards - don't let depression grab hold of you. The nurses at my clinic are always saying "since you are so young..." If nothing else it is nice going in there for the ego boost - lol! My mom had her 5th child when she was 31 so I can relate to what you said about your mom. Remember though - this is a different era and lots of women are having babies later on. I have lots of friends who had babies at 24,25, etc and they have told me they wish they would of waited longer. Try to put all of this out of your mind (no easy task, I know) and pamper yourself for your b-day!

Daly - I think the sunshine made it here - it is beautiful today, although still a little chilly. I am just happy it isn't snowing!

And to all the ladies worried about the few extra pounds - I am the exact same way. I am have the metabolism of a turtle and gain 5 pounds if I even look at a piece of cheesecake! I always retain a few pounds of water when I have PMS and I have been bloating a little from the meds. I understand it is only going to get worse with the stimms but I figure I will just get out my trusty sweatpants and not worry about it for now. With everything else we are going through - we can worry about the weight thing later! Who needs the added stress? Indulge ladies! We deserve it!

Love you all - have a beautiful day!
