Hi Heidi, I'm not writing to answer your question cos I'm not that knowledgeable about vastectomy cases (although I know that sperm can be extracted by other methods), but just to say hello & welcome to the site.

Best of luck with your treatment, once you've decided what it's going to be!!!

Love, Jo.XXX

Hi Heidi

Welcome to the site.

My partner had a vasectomy 11 years ago and we wanted a family, we were referred to Oxford about ICSI treatment.

I tried ICSI treatment last year, unfortunately it failed, after this we went private about a vasectomy reversal and was told the chances are very slim and not worth spending the money.

Therefore we are now going for ICSI again this week.

My partner had to have a Pesa, this is where they put them out and keep sticking a needle into their testical and remove the sperm, it is a very delicate process and they then freeze the sperm for when you are reading for treatment. (I hope your partner does get put off!!)

My partner also had testicular cancer so when he had his Pesa they could only take from his remaining testical, we were lucky there was still sperm to take, it is amazing.

Therefore I sure that is the route you would go down if you rule out the reversal.

(At the top of the page there is a heading IVF/ICSI click on that and PESA will pop up, so you can both have a read.

Wishing you both lots of luck.

Love

Marteen

xx

Thanks Marteen!!
We really didnt want to go down the route of reversals as it doesnt have a good sucess rate and want to save our money for something that gives us more of a chance. I will look at the top of the page now.
Good luck with you and keep me informed!!

Heidi x
