So how do you relax in 2ww?

Post by nicolam »

It's no good, I've got to have a rant! Firstly fantanstic news Kateg - and there were you worrying about your one frostie! After my first set of worries over whether any of our 6 frosties would survive thawing we got the fantastic news that we had managed 5! So last Fri had 3 put back in (I've would've had all 5 if they'd let me.. what a shame they're wasted...) Now day 4 of 2ww and I'm going up the wall.... (My test date 1st Aug).

Everyone says trying not to be stressed is the most important thing - well I'm not joking, but everytime I think about them being in there, my stomach just turns with fear - then I panic because I think that everytime that happens, I'm releasing some horrible fear endorphin and that will stop them staying! Trying to get to sleep is the worse. So last night tried camomile tea, deep breaths, but don't know what else. I mean just now at the computer, a jacket fell off the back of the door and made me jump out of my skin - what ****ing hope is there for them!!!
This cycle is likely to be my last, I'm afraid I'm one of those who just can't do it anymore. So maybe that's why it's worse than before. However, there are some real positives to this cycle (which I keep trying to repeat to myself).
1) Got three in there instead of two.
2) I'm generally healthier - last 3 tmts I suffered with hives - a skin allergy caused by nothing apparently..... so I was allergic to myself basically (possibly caused by stress) so was on allergy tabs as well (one time my face swelled up like a balloon!) After the 3rd failure I stopped all the drugs inc. allergy tabs and decided to have a break from IVF - the hives went within a week.......
3) I've not had to have all the drugs & the horrid egg collection
4) They had this new equipment which showed on screen the needle dropping the embryos right into the optimum place in the uterus - even got a picture of them in there!

My symptons so far: Sore boobs, very mild AF feelings with niggly ovaries plus sharpish pains low down mostly on one side - god knows what that means - it's not like period pain. Anyone else had this?

Sorry if I've gone on, but had to get all that off my sore boobs and any relaxation tips greatly received to stop the butterflies.

Nicola x

Hi Nicola - snap! I had 3 frosties put back in on Friday too, and like you, I just don't know what to do with myself (spent quite a lot of time on here!) I'm back at work (cos otherwise would go even more up the wall), but time is dragging terribly at home (that probably sounds really pathetic - small child who can't keep herself amused!) I have a good novel, but usual weekday evening pastimes - bit of exercise, pub etc. are out of bounds.

I'm trying not to analyse symptoms, but can make my boobs feel uncomfortable if I squash them! There's a few of us with similar timescales on the July cycle buddies, so do come and say hi if you haven't already.

Alison x

hello nicola
welcome to the JCB's (july cycle buddies...obviously!)I think the answer to'how do you cope'is...you dont!!! Im pretty sure in the 2ww youre more addicted than ever to this board ,as youre watching everbody elses twinge and pain!
are you working or taaking the 2ww off?
both kat and I are testing the same day as you. Alison and susi both have 3 embies making themselves comfy too. And I cant forget buddies, dawn, Jo, becky and dolly all who are testing near to us. Its wonderful having people around who understand you and are there for you, even if we dont know what each other looks like! although I do have my own mental images of the girls!!!!
I think the board is my way of coping, especially as Im not working until I feel really really really ok!

I agree with you about it being a good thing to be feeling alot healthier, plus youve got 3 tucked up in your tum!

pains and twinges are a weird thing, this time ive been good and not worried about the twinges and the pains as I think it must be my poor swollen ovaries after being put throught the mill.
what I am worried about is not having an implantation bleed! As thats always a good sign. Saying that I know that not everyone gets it. But you have to worry about something dont you!

anyway, wishing you all the best nicola!

lots of love
kathryn
x

Dear Nicola,

Hope you're hanging in there! There's no way anyone who hasn't been thrôugh fertility treatment can understand the anguish of the 2ww! I've had 4 in the past 2 years. The last time I took the full 2 weeks off and I did get a positive. However, it's really difficult to switch off and I know that all twinges are multiplied 100 times.
It's hard to say if the sore boobs are a good sign - it's certainly a sign early on in pregnancy, but I think that the progesterone pessaries also may make them sore.
I had acupuncture before and after EC / ET, and afterwards too and I found that it helped me relax. Why don't you go for a massage or something?
I do hope that you get the good news you want - Alison xx
