Fall in E2 levels post trigger
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi,

Me presently going through an IVF cycle. Took 3 more days of stimming this time to reach the same follicle size in the cycle that i had conceived (had a missed abortion at 12 weeks).

On the day of trigger had an E2 level of 1744 (6 follicles >18 and 4 below 18mm) , progesterone of 0.70. Levels throughout the cycle had increased well.

However the day after the trigger the E2 was 1496 and progesterone of 3.53.

My experience is that the levels always increase or almost double post trigger.
So does this mean i have ovulated or poor quality of eggs? :(
the results came in post retreival of 10 follies of which 4 have fertilised and transfer is on.

If the cycle goes through does this fall in E2 levels negate /lower the chances of conceiving.

Any info on the same will be highly appreciated
Thanks,
ash

Hi ash,
I don't know much about infering the values of your estrogen. Here's my 2 cents.I remember in my case my estrogen "plateaud"(the doctor put it like that) by day 7.In our normal English it means it wasn't gonig to rise any more.So they told me to trigger that day.Levels of progesterone greater than 2 indicate ovulation has taken place which would be consitent in your case as you already had the trigger by then.I don't think estrogen gives any indication of egg quality.ESTROGEN is related to the number and size of follicles that both your ovaries have at the time.Try not to worry about all these numbers. It will just give you more stress.I remember I too did all this research when i was in the ivf cycle. It just made get more confused and upset.I guess you must have had your transfer by now.So relax and rest well. All the best for it.I see you are from India. Why don't you join our "Asian girls thread" here on the General Forum to give your company?
Take care Best wishes,Tina
