Anyone at the Lister?

Post by Ellie »

Hi all
I was just wondering if anyone was at the Lister in London. We are thinking of changing clinics and my consultant recommended trying the Lister as I have a history of high FSH.
Any comments would be welcome.
Merry Christmas to you all.

Yes, Ellie I'm at the Lister. They're very good and very nice. You have to be a bit pushy to get what you want but that's the same everywhere in London, in fact I think in the whole of the UK, because they're so many of us wanting treatment. They know exactly what they're doing, their cultures are the latest scientific mixture, and they get pretty good results. I've got pregnant twice there in 1 year, and I'm 43. However, I lost them both.

You could try Professor Craft at the Assisted Fertility Centre in Harley St., he's also very good and a bit more personal, though more expensive overall. The Lister's good because it's a hospital as well, so everything's to hand. The lab are excellent, and they're licensed for PGS and PGD. They offer everything, basically.

Good Luck,
Lara

Thanks Lara,
I am sorry that you lost 2 pregnancies in a year it must have been hard for you.
I have an appointment for jan 24th at the Lister so not long to wait. After spending a year being knocked back by my current clinic due to high fsh it was nice to be told it wasn't anywhere near their maximum!
Have a great christmas and fingers crossed for the new year.

High FSH & Lister

Post by Dunnie »

Hi Ellie

I've just found out I have high FSH (19) and that my only option is egg donation which was devastating news. I've been looking on this website and it sounds like Lister are willing to do IVF treated for women with high FSH.

Before going ahead with treatment or getting my hopes up I just wondered how your appointment went and what your FSH is?

Hope all is going well, look forward to hearing back.

Hi Girls,

I am not a patient of Lister but have heard alot of good reviews about this hospital. In fact my GP suggested that I should try there as he has had alot patients who have had success from Lister.

The nurse at my surgery also suggested Lister. I will consider this for the future. I am currently going through another clinic because I went through my first cycle there and they know my history. I am hoping everything will go well this time.

Wish you all the very best !! I also opened a thread sometime ago about Lister and got some good responses. If you go into my profile and see the threads I have posted, you may find it.

Good luck !!

Sita -- Thanks for bringing this post back to the top.

I'm at the Lister and have done cycle there (BFN Feb 14) and am scheduled to do my next cycle in mid-april. I can highly recommend them though I do not have any other clinics/doctors to compare them to. For what it is worth, I really love the staff and the doctors (especially Sam Abdullah and Marie Wren). In my follow up consultation, Dr. Abdullah was really thorough and we are trying a slightly different and more tailored protocal this second time around. I'm keeping my faith in them especially as the doctor himself has such a positive and encouraging attitude! Also, they are known for taking on women with conditions that other clinics discourage -- hope this is of some help for those of you contemplating different clinics.

What I would suggest is really doing a lot of research -- visit the different doctors, meet the staff, ask for feedback from these threads. IVF/IUI etc. takes so much out of our schedules that you want to really feel comfortable with the clinic as well as have faith in their expertise. Good luck deciding!
