Hi Girls,

Just wanted to let you know that I had my first acupuncture session today and it was good. My acupunturist recommended that I have weekly sessions throughout the cycle even after ET. He seemed quite knowledgable and has treated alot of other women who are going through IVF.

One thing he recommended for women who are trying to get pregnant is a vitamin with magnesium and Zinc. Apparently it is essential for the body. He also recommeded multi vitamins for me.

My acupuncturist suggeste that I will need to have a few sessions after the ET. Most girls on this thread have stopped just after ET. I was wondering whether anyone has experienced acupuncture after ET.

Sml,

Thanks for sharing Zita west's schedule for acupuncture. I have not read this book. Do you recommend it ?

Good luck all !

Love,
Sita

Hi Sita
Am also going to have accupuncture on day 7 or 8 of trannsfer as am having full bed rest for 1st 5 days and then not doing anything until embryo's have "hatched" . Zeta west is a fertility expert who is also an accupuncturist. Her books are easy to understand and have lots of helpful tips especially for ivf.
When is your ET Sita?

Hi Sita,

I just wanted to let you know that it is a good idea to get acupuncture a few more times after ET only because we want to strenghten the uterus at this point. Im glad you have found an acupuncturist who has experience in IVF, its essential.

Goodluck,

Sita,

As Lucy noted, Zita West is a midwife who specializes in fertility (and infertility) based in London. She has written a couple of books -- the one I have read is called Fertility and Conception (her other book is also good -- I can't quite recall the title but you could look it up on her website -- www.zitawest.com). A lot of the ladies on this site have found her book(s) very helpful. Personally, I continue to turn to it for advice, reassurance, etc. and highly recommend it.

I'm glad you've found an acupuncturist you like -- it sounds like he has the experience with IVF issues that you were looking for. Best of luck!

Hi Girls,

Thank you for your continued support.

Lucy, my ET may be end of May as I am starting the drugs in April. You mentioned the "hatching" process, Is this an additional IVF procedure. The last time, after EC 2 embryos fertilised and they were transfered. My hospital did not mention anything about a seperate hatching process. Will appreciate your advise. Pls excuse my ignorance !

Kristine, It is good to hear from you. I am glad you too think that it is good to have a few accupuncture session after ET. I was not sure before, but I am reassured now.

SML, Thanks for the tips on the book. I will try and buy this and read it as well.

Wishing all of you loads of good luck !! :)

Love,

Hi Sita,
Hatching is one of the stages of embryo development that accurs naturally in the uterus sfter transfer. Embryo development goes through certain stages before it sticks to the lining of the womb.-.
Day 3 - embryo has 6-8 cells known as Blastomeres
Day 4 - the cells start to merge together known as Morula
Day 5 - embryo has many cells and develops a fluid filled cavity , embryo is now a Blastocyst
Implantation - 5 days after fertilisation it starts to break out of its outer shell during the following 48hrs(hatching)Only then can it implant.
Accupuncture 7 days after transfer when the embryos will be starting to implant.

All this is in the zita west book , plus more tips on not only accupuncture but on alsorts!

Hope this helps, what i am doing this time is accupuncture plus gentle yoga and deep breathing exercises and visualisation tecniques (also advised in the zeta west book). Am also healthy eating and 80% organic. Am hoping that this works for me this time round!!!
