Baby P arrived 9 weeks early and is doing great!!

Hi Everyone-
Just wanted to let you know that our son Ben surprised us all (even the doctors) by arriving last Wednesday night at 31 weeks. He's a champ at 3 pounds 9 ounces and 17 inches long. Currently he's still hanging out at the Special Care Nursery, but we spend as much time as we can with him, and he's just doing so well. We hope to have him home by early May.

We are completely and hopelessly in love with him.

At 21 weeks I was diagonsed with an incompetent cervix and an emergency cerclage was put in. Then I was put on bedrest/couch rest. I laid around for 10 weeks.

At 24 weeks they gave me steriod shots to help our little guy's lungs develop and it seems to have really helped. He's already off all oxygen support and has been started on breast milk (through a feeding tube).

We feel so very lucky to
1. have gotten pregnant at all (3 round of clomid, 1 IUI with injectables, 1 round of IVF)
2. have worked with awesome doctors who "caught" the incompetent cervix in time

But mostly, we feel so blessed to have this little guy in our lives.

Even though I haven't been on this site for a while (I was just too scared that something would go wrong), when I was a regular reader/posted I found so much love and support from everyone.

So, I just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you for the support and kindness throughout the pregnancy and I want to wish everyone the best.

Just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am really pleased that it all had a happy ending, and that Ben is doing really well. Enjoy your time together.

Congratulations on a beautiful baby boy!!

Well done for keeping him in as long as you did against the odds. I hope his NICU time is nice and quiet and that you have him home with you soon.
