Waiting for 1st scan

OK - now I'm scared....

I just saw my GP to discuss care options for birth etc. She asked me if I wanted another Beta HCG test, and I said yes. So I get the results tomorrow. I have not had any other tests since my BFP on the 17th, so I'm so worried that things might not be going well and I'm about to find out....I guess I'll know more in about 24 hours.

Holy crapola! Its like the damn has burst and after all this waiting and long crazily windy backwards facing road we all been on for yonks theres this sudden wonderful place were there are little beans and TWIN beans popping up everywhere!!!! Way to go Kirstie! Thats fabulous!

Its so funny to think your the only one feeling something, but looks like we are all running around squeezing our boobs and taking daily htps (no names mentionned but you know who you are!) even AFTER the result to make sure its real. Bella your comment made me think this coz Ive also been secretly wondering if A) my one embby splits into 2 or B) perhaps by some crazy miracle I conceive one natrually at the same time as my FET! ha ha. I am over the moon with one. But twins - bring it on!

Bella try not to stress! The HCG rechecks are good for your peace of mind so you can see your levels are rising. I had my first beta on a Saturday, and then the clinic had me retest 4 days later so the can see the climb. Single hcg readings dont mean much on their own, they watch for the doubling and climbing rate between test dates. Have had 5 blood tests now since March 4th, I know what you mean about scared though, I felt sick (and not coz preggy!) everytime I had to call in for the result, but when the result is good (and yours WILL be!) it is a nice reassurance.

So is everyone sorting midwives out now? Have been informed theres a chronic shortage here in Welly and I have to do it now now now! So have list of names to call, but so scared about just cold calling and getting a midwife and getting a good one! Could pay for a specialist, happens to be my fertility specialist whos done all my surgery and IVF but this means serious nappy buying $$$ get used up! Hmmm.

Mel, only one more day! I bet you are excited. Wouldn't it be amazing if you did have two by some chance? Same with you Bella! I read online that a women's intuition and gut feeling usually is right when it comes to twins. I had an overwhelming feeling that I had twins too.

I agree, rechecking hcg levels sounds like a good thing to me. I didn't like having to wait 2 full weeks from one beta test to the first scan. I wanted to see those levels rise so I didn't have to worry. So Bella, I think it's a good thing.

Eminde, we'll have to exchange twin chat at some point. We both have our 2nd scan next week. I love those pictures they send me home with!!

Hi All,
Just had my scan this morning. So so happy! Could see our little beanie and the little heart beating away! Heard the heart beat too! Burst out crying with relief and joy. Beanie already 16mm long! Doc said was a long baby for 7.5 wks, I reckoned it means has DP's legs, but doc said doesnt even have legs yet! Can see the head and body and could see little arm buds too and sure looked like s/he was waving!!!

Feel so blessed!

Ahart, did I see that you just had a scan and your having triplets! Wow.

Hope your feeling better Sue, when you have a chance can you tell me how you get those ticker thingys? I am feeling so much more confident and sure now I have seen little bub, I just know s/hes there for keeps!!

Mel - go to Tickerfactory.com, click on the pregnancy ticker, follow instructions to pick the different bits and then at the end when your code is displayed, copy the one that is for BB boards from url bit to url at the end, then paste it into your profile. If your profile is long, you may not have enough room, so then you have to shorten what is already in there before pasting. Any problems let me know as i am trying to do this from memory (which is not good ) So pleased your scan went well, thats fab you go to see bubba.

I think i am starting to drive myself crazy with all the worrying, i just feel so worried, every ache and pain, i'm convinced it's over. I don't even know where i can go in Liverpool to pay for a scan. I had such a crap day yesterday in school i was called for everything by one delightful student, i could really do without it. hoping i can get a scan sorted with the doctor. Sorry about the moan, just had to let it out. Not i can try and fill back up with PMA!!!

Mel, congratulations!! I know you must be relieved now. Wow, 16 mm already at 7.5 weeks! I was 7 weeks 2 days and one was 11 mm and the other was 9 mm. They said mine measured perfectly for 7 weeks 2 days. And the 2 mm difference between the two were good. Do you have the long wait to 12 weeks for the next scan?

I just figured out the ticker thing last night too at tickerfactory.com.

We saw triplets, however the 3rd beanie is smaller than the other 2 so he may not make it,but we pray that he does and was just a late implanter. We are scheduled for a repeat U/S on 4/5

Ahart, wow, you are 5 weeks 6 days (on your ticker) and saw triplets. You must have had your scan earlier than I got too. Congratulations. Keep praying for your little one that he/she will continue to grow and catch up to the others. How exciting!

Wow! Ahart - triplets! What a blessing that you saw all 3 in your scan. I'm sure the little one will grow up for the next scan - we'll keep everything crossed for you.

My blood test came back excellent - well over 10,000 which means doubling every 48 hours. Phew! I can try & relax a bit now until the 'BIG' scan next week.

Bella, I'm so glad your #'s are so high! You can rest easy now for the next week. That's a nice relief!! I'd say you have nothing to worry about now. It will make your scan more exciting because you can expect to see a great heartbeat (or two?)
