Its my first time on this site and I've posted 3 times already! I keep thinking of new questions that I need to ask.
Anyway, starting ICSI within the next few weeks. The charge is £2200 for IVF and £850 for ICSI. Drugs aren't included in this price, so in order to "budget" (yeah, right), I was wondering whether anyone could give me an idea as to how much the injections, etc will cost for a fresh cycle and a frozen embryo transfer cycle.

erm as far as the price of drugs goes the down reg drugs and the ovitrel are relativly inexpensive its the stims that cost all the money and obviously every woman has to take different amounts of them so tis hard to give you an idea of price
although we were given gonal f pens which had 450iu per pen and they cost us £150 roughly we were lucky that the pens lasted us 3 days as charlie was on a low dose of 150iu a day as far as im aware thats as low a dose as you can be given
just want to wish you all the luck in the world
glad you finding the site helpfull its gr8 isnt it
good luck take care

Not that this will help you much - because my prices are Canadian $. But it cost us $2,000 for medication. In total, including drugs it cost us approx $7,500 so the medication was about 1/4 of the total cost.
Hi, I don't know if this will help you, but I was told if I was self funding I should ask my GP as they may provide the drugs, it deepends on the practice. I asked a family friend who is a GP, and he told me that if anyone asks at his practice they will provide the drugs. Mine doesn't but its worth asking.
Thanks for all your replies. Its really helped! Panicking now though!! How expensive is treatment?!? Hubby and I have about £10,000 we've saved for IVF, so I'm hoping that'll be enough to get us a baby!!
My ICSI cost £3148.00 and drugs were £550.00 at Manchester Fertility Services. I'm sure they are much the same elsewhere. FET is £650.00

I've just done a fresh ICSI at Care M/c. When you go for your consultation, you will discuss what Protocol you will be using (long protocol, Short/Flare protocol, Cetrotide protocol). Cetrotide seems to be all the rage at the minute (and it's good in that it's a really quick cycle) although with this being your first time they may prefer another protocol. You will probably be offered a choice of drugs, and the prices vary enormously. Menogon, Menopur and Gonal F all do the same job (it is said !) but the first 2 are from a human source, the 3rd animal source. You may be asked which you prefer. Menogon the cheapest, Menopur middle, Gonal F dearest (more than twice as dear as Menogon). It's impossible to say how much it will cost you as it depends on how many ampoules you end up needing, depending on how you react to the drugs. These 3 drugs also vary in how you inject them - Gonal F and Menopur are subcutaneous (just under the skin). Menogon is intramuscular - ie. hurts a tad (however I'm a wimp).
I think the drugs for the Cetrotide cycle we've just done (Cetrotide and Menogon, final HCG injection and pessaries) would cost around £800. This was a normal length Cetrotide cycle, reacting normally to drugs. If we'd have gone for Gonal F instead of Menogon it would have been an extra £400.
Hope your consultation goes well and you can get started with trmt soon.
Good luck !

HAD MY FOLLOW UP APPT ON TUESDAY AND THEY SAID ON NEXT ATTEMPT OF WHICH I START BCP NEXT MONTH - I WILL BE ON SHORT PROTOCOL AGAIN MENOPUR FOR STIMS - WONT BE DOWN REGIN UNTIL FOLLIES ARE AT 12 - 14MM THEN INJECTING I THINK HE MENTIONED ANTAGONIST/CETROTIDE??
The cycle was really quick, compared to my previous downregging/stimming Long Protocols. You simply start stims on day 2 of cycle and continue until lead follicle is at least 14mm (at Care they say 14mm, other clinics will have their own measurements). Then start Cetrotide (downreg to halt ovulation) - this was day 8 for me - and continue 'til lead follicle 20mm (however, clinics vary with this last measurement - my last clinic wanted to see only 17mm). Then HCG inj as usual, with EC 36 hrs later.
Less than 4 weeks from first jab 'til test day.
I believe that this cycle is now being used for those with higer FSH, but I don't know why. I haven't a high FSH. My new consultant simply asked me why I should put myself through a long downreg - with headaches, sweating and all that - when I don't need to. I agreed !
It did all seem really strange though ... as though it was all over, before it got going.
Best of luck Caz !!

YES - I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY THEY HAVENT TRIED ME WITH THIS PROTOCOL BEFORE NOW - LAST 3 ON SHORT PROTOCOL - ALTHOUGH THE LAST ATTEMPT (4TH) I PRODUCED MORE LARGER FOLLICLES THAN PREVIOUS 3 ATTEMPTS SO I THINK THIS NEXT ATTEMPT IS BECAUSE I HAVE SHOWN THERE ARE EGGS TO BE HAD WHEREAS THE 1ST 3 I ONLY HAD ONE EGG AT EC AND TRANSFERED JUST THE ONCE OUT OF 3!!
MY FSH IS AT 12/13 AND AS BEEN AT THIS LEVEL SINCE I FIRST STARTED 2 YEARS AGO. I WAS THINKING OF CHANGING CLINICS BUT ON TALKING TO ONE OF THE NURSES ABOUT MY THOUGHTS SHE INFORMED ME THAT MY CLINIC HAS A 37% SUCCESS RATE!! THATS ACROSS THE BOARD - ALL AGES - SO I DONT THINK IT GETS ANY BETTER THAN THAT DOES IT. AND I ALSO HAVE BUILT UP AN EXCELLENT RELATIONSHIP WITH THE STAFF THERE AS WELL AS IT BEING RIGHT ON MY DOORSTEP. I - JUST LIKE ALL OF US JUST WANT A RESULT - BUT IT SEEMS A LONG TIME GETTING THERE EH!! I AM ONLY GRATEFUL THAT THEY HAVENT GIVEN UP ON ME - THEY SAID THAT THEY THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE GOT PREGNANT ON LAST ATTEMPT - 2 REALLY GOOD EMBRYOS TRANSFERED WRITTEN IN MY NOTES - BUT WAS NOT TO BE - THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THEY HAVE EVER GIVEN ME HOPE SO I HAVE FAITH THAT IT WILL HAPPEN EVENTUALLY.
DID YOU HAVE BCP ON YOUR LAST CETROTIDE PROTOCOL?? I TEND TO THINK THAT IT WOULD BE MORE SUCCESSFUL FOR ME WITHOUT. WHAT DO YOU THINK?
No, I've never been on BCP on any cycle. They're just to make sure you shut down completely, aren't they ? Why do you think may be more successful without them ?
37% sounds amazing. Don't think you'll get any better than that - plus with the clinic being on your doorstep, should cut the stress factor down a little too.
My df has an infection at the moment. Think it's prostitis again. He's seeing a urologist tomorrow. When it's cleared up we then have to wait 3 months, then go for DNA sperm tests to a clinic in London. So, next trmt / cycle depends on those results.
It just goes on and on and on ...

YES I CAN UNDERSTAND HOW YOU ARE FEELING HAVING TO WAIT FOR TESTS ETC - YOU'RE PROBABLY LIKE ME JUST WANT TO GET ON WITH IT.
I WILL ATTEMPT TO EXPLAIN WHY I THINK I WOULD BE BETTER OFF WITHOUT THE PILL - PLEASE PUT ME RIGHT IF YOU THINK DIFFERENTLY.
4TH ATTEMPT I STARTED BCP 29TH NOV AND STOPPED ON 13 JAN!! IT SEEMED LIKE AN ETERNITY!! STIMMING STARTED ON 16TH JAN WHICH AT THE TIME I HAD BEEN HAVING A LIGHT BREAKTHROUGH BLEED FOR 3 WEEKS!! IT DID GET HEAVIER AFTER STOPPING BCP AND STIMMING WAS DURING AF WHICH YES THEY SAY IS THE TIME WHEN FSH IS AT HIGHEST LEVEL. I JUST FEEL THAT IT WOULD BE BETTER TO STIM WHEN HAVING NATURAL AF INSTEAD OF WHEN CLINIC WANTS IT TO HAPPEN JUST IN CASE MY CYCLE TIME VARIES - IF IM NOT DE REGIN UNTIL FOLLIES ARE 12-14MM THEN ISNT IT BEST TO DO IT WITHOUT BCP????
WHAT DO YOU THINK?

This cycle has cost us £2300 for ICSI without drugs. I am extremley fortunate that I have an amazing GP who wrote up the hospital perscription for me on a normal FP10 costing me £26 (normal perscription charge) this has saved us nearly £1000. My clinic advised me that there are some internet sites where you may be able to buy the drugs cheaper than from the clinic.
Hope this helps

Hi I'm a newbie and sorry about the long posting. Feel I have to tell peeps about what happened to me.
Hello everyone
I was wondering if anyone could offer me any guidance on my experience so far.
I am 41 years old and began the whole process of IVF in Nov. 2005. After consultation with the advisor/coordinator/registrar, my husband and I were informed that the cost would be about £3,500. I’m not at all sure whether she mentioned anything about drugs and any extra charges for them. I naturally assumed that price was for everything!! At the time we were both very nervous and feeling very vulnerable (as you can imagine). There should have been so many questions that we should have asked her.
Anyway, we were enrolled.
My blood tests were fine. I was asked to administer the syneral spray which did not work for me. I had to start the whole process again a month later.
This time they found that because I didn’t respond so well last time, I was put on max dosage (600 units) puregon. This was at a cost of about £400 pounds at a time, I needed about 6 bottles of this. I was having a blood test everyday for nine days. Each time three different tests were done. )LH, proj, oest? Each at a cost of £90. (£270x9 days!!)
Four embryos were finally achieved. Three transferred with ICSI fertilisation. I will find out on Friday (7th April 06) if I’m pregnant.
The whole process has ended up costing me £10,000. couldn’t believe it when the final balance was calculated. Now, I never ever thought that I would fall pregnant the first time round so we had put aside enough money for three attempts. This is impossible for us now!
Where did it all go wrong. Naturally, if this first attempt works out for us, It’s not as bad-but what happens if it doesn’t?
